City of Heros...or City of Nothingness?

Okay...so I played this game and bought the three month pre-played card cause I worked at EB Games at the time and it was really cheap. Well now I have figured out that there really isn't a story line in it at all and it is upsetting me so much because it is a sweet idea for a game. I was wondering if City of Villians is going to actually have a "story line" not a bunch of boring mission where you find this, or destroy this. Mind you I am lvl 17 so I have played it enough to see for myself that as you go on in the leveling the missions do not get any more complicated just the bad guys get higher and higher leveled. I am not trying to be cynical but I was really hoping this game might be something to look foward to.

That's one of the reasons why I stopped playing it. It just got too boring. Plus I have no imagination so my superheroes looked like shit :(

Are you doing Task Forces, Story Arcs and trials?

There is no overlying story to the game, but there are strings of missions that have legitimate stories, and culminations in the form of an Arch-villain battle. These appear in the mid to late twenties and continue to the upper levels.

Task Forces are awesome for a little story driven mission-ing. At your level, Positron isn't an option, but you can do Synapse (one of my favorites) which allows you to fight both a giant monster and an arch-villain.

There is no story in the form of cutscenes or the like, but the story is definitely there, if you read all the mission blurbs, npc chatter, etc..

I played CoH for a good 8 or 9 months until I finally caved and got WoW and the main reason I quit wasn't the story, but the leveling system. Since the game lacked any equipment whatsoever for you to collect, you'd think it would have an indepth leveling system to make every level you gain a big deal. Nope, instead you get pretty much the same thing every time. You either get a new power, or some points to improve your existing powers. That's it. I stayed so long in CoH because I WANTED to love it, it was such a great idea for a game and the interface and community was great as well as the combat system. But the fact that getting a level was not a big deal at all just killed the fun for me, especially considering how much more work you have to put into a level than most games require.

I tried to stick it out, hoping CoV would breath some new life into the game for me, but it kept getting more and more delayed so I just gave up and switched over to WoW and have not looked back.
