Civ4 Collector's $36.99 + shipping @ Outpost "preorder"

FlyingGimp

CAGiversary!
Ground was ~$6.90 and 2-day was ~$7.20 for me. This is marked pre-order so who knows when it will ship. I figure I can cancel if some B&M has a good sale next week.

For those of us without a Fry's this seems to be the best deal going for Civ4 Collector's or not. I could care less about most of the Collector's features. The spiral bound manual doesn't hurt - hearkens back to the late 80's / early 90's when you actually got something substantial in a box. Maybe the rest will bring an extra dollar or two when I sell this after Civ5 comes out.

I did a search for Outpost, hopefully this is not a repost.

The box set is actually very nice. If you take the sleeve off, it can sit on a bookshelf and blend in with books rather than stick out. The CD soundtrack included is very nice and the spiral bound manual is extremely well done.

I did get the infamous French tech tree foldout rather than an English one, but it doesn't bother me too much since I speak French :). They're sending me an English one through the mail (and anyone else who signs up for it at http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/techtree_support.htm at no charge).

I was hoping for SOMEONE to put it on sale when it first came out, but it was 49.99$ everywhere. I had a preorder in at the last minute to ensure I got this edition and got free shipping and no tax, so it was a little savings over hopping to a store to get it (gas + tax).

This game is CRACK... 16 hours without blinking is hard on the body! :) :) :)

I got the Special Edition at EB games... I had a $5 off coupon and used credit from the GT4 deals. I got the French version of the tech tree and I don't speak French but signed-up for the English version.

I am a huge Civ - been playing it since 1992. But I wasn't hooked on Civ 4 right away. So many new choices to make. 3D map but I don't think you can spin the camera around - just zoom in and out. But as I play it more, I enjoy it more. It's just a matter of developing new strategies and learning about the details of the new choices.

They are humping us; it is now saying that it will not let me add the product to the cart, and to contact customer service. I wouldn't rely on this one.

i ordered it the day the first post was made; i got the order in my cart and everything; about 3 days later i get an email saying it is on backorder...

now their site doesn't even have the collector edition listed

You can spin the map around. One of the random tips that come up while the game is loading told me so. It's like ctrl-numpad4 or something like that.

Thanks! I should have looked at my keyboard layout that came with the Special Edition...

Although you can't completely rotate the map, you can shift the view 45 degrees to the left or right (and lock it there) using Ctrl left arrow or Ctrl right arrow. You can also temporarily rotate using Shft left arrow or Shft left arrow.
