Ive been playing the hell out of MLB Power Pros for the Wii, but doing that has actually inspired me to bust out some of the old classic Baseball games I loved back in the day.

I dusted off my Yobo NES clone and busted out Baseball Simulator 1.000. Good fun but not nearly as good as Super Baseball Simulator 1.000, which I played next on my snes. That game is still playable today, and the whacky Ultra pitches and hits are awesome. Plus you could edit your own teams and pick your uniform colors, assign powers, etc.

But then I went back to the NES and played the greatest baseball game of all time, Baseball Stars from SNK. I was the Ninja Blacksox and I played against the Japan Robins. The Robins won 4-2, but only cos I let off 3 runs in the first inning before I remembered the controls.

That game even has girls in it! The NB have a girl named Kuno.

And I forgot how well the graphics hold up for a NES game. This game looks incredible. When I was a freshman in college we used to run a 6 team season mode with this game with all the guys I lived with. I do remember that every season ended when the battery erased all our hard work tho... =(

If ever there were games that needed to come out on the Wii's Virtual Console, its Baseball Stars, and Super Baseball Simulator 1.000.

I dont have Dusty Diamond, but Ive always heard that it was great.

And I believe Little League Baseball was developed by SNK, but published by someone else, and uses the same engine as Baseball Stars, which of course means its great.

Dusty Diamonds is awesome, but the Japanese version > American version. As they got rid of all the monsters/animals/etc, and replaced them with multiple versions of the same humans.

You can actually find a translated English version of it on the Interweb, just do a Google search.

Baseball Stars was my favorite of the NES-era baseball games. Classic.

BUT Don't forget about one of my other favorite baseball games of that era, Base Wars!! Robot baseball at its finest. I would love to see an updated version of that old game.

Agreed, it's one I hope to import sometime down the road.

Baseball Simulator 1.000 NES was awesome. Never got around to playing the SNES version.

another fun, crazy, but broken Baseball with superpowers game is Base Wars.

Little League was awesome...I'd love to see it on the VC. I actually really like Nintendo Baseball still. I used to play it in the arcade as a kid and I'm probably the only one here who grabbed it for the VC but to me it was worth it.

Darn, I was hoping this would be a thread solely about Baseball Stars. For the longest time, I really thought this was one of those games that my friends and I greatly enjoyed, yet no one else ever played. Glad I was wrong.

Baseball Stars is STILL my favorite baseball videogame of all time. I can't count the hours I've wasted on this game - I stilll play it on the shitter from time to time using my PSP.

Ken Griffey Presents MLB is probably my second favorite - we played the crap out of that in college...
Anyone ever play the original Baseball Stars for NeoGeo?
Nope, never had a NG. I had one friend who had one and he didnt have BS. And whenever I played an MVS unit in the arcade I usually played fighting games.

But if it comes out for the VC, I will probably buy it.

If I had a nickel for every hour I spent playing Baseball Stars as a kid.... It was the first baseball game that I had played that allowed you to edit rosters and kept track of your stats. I made all my friends from school on my team and them played and played and played. lol how sad

Wasn't there a like a big homerun hitter named Lefty of something like that? LOL I LOVED THAT GAME! :D

Baseball Stars... wow. I can't even express my love of that game.

My Dad and I used to play the game all the time. He became obsessed with creating a whole team of All Star players. And did. I can't even imagine the hours he put into the game.

One of the saddest days of my life was when I popped it in, power surge... Memory erased.

(Baseball Stars 2 sucked btw. Neo Geo versions were fun, but better suited to the arcade)

I'd love to see the Neo Geo version of Baseball Stars 2 on the VC. When I worked in a mom n' pops video game store some guy came in and traded his Neo Geo with about 15 games. We held onto it for about 2 weeks and played Baseball Stars 2 every night before we closed. Then we put it on eBay  That was a really fun baseball game and I'm not much of a sports fan.
