I have a HP pavilion XT1958 you can have for $100 plus shipping, it's only 1.8 ghz but it's got 512 ram and a 40gig HDD and a open AGP slot. Not the best but still pretty good

Emachines is alright, any nerd will tell you otherwise but If you dont know how to make your own they might be ok(not if plan to play games and or upgrade any piece) You could prolly put together a good machine for under $400 if you don't buy mine.
