Clothes in Phantasy Star single player? Ever??

I'm up to chapter 3 of PSU single player mode

I'm tired of looking at Ethan Waber's bad fashion, any chance the clothes become available any time during the single player game?

For not having acheivement points linked to them, those Strateria are pretty hard.

Surely there has to be something better than his..DS Braves jacket..or whatever it's called..can't I just put him in some jeans and some sort of muscle shirt?
