Those Hanafuda cards are remarkably attractive. I love the mesh of the Nintendo characters with the Japanese aesthetic. I was set on getting the Game & Watch collection, but now I'm not so sure.

You guys should wait to do your Post-play surveys in July if you've already hit Platinum status and gotten the prizes you want. They're going to reset your status in July, so you can use those Post-Play surveys to build your coins back to the appropriate status level. 90% of them won't expire until after 2009. Launch games like SM64 will expire in November. Plenty of time to hold off and do these in July.

Ditto - I was going to pick up G&W, but I may be opting for the Hanafuda cards instead.

I made the same decision. I was all psyched for the G&W until I found out it only had 3 games. Since I have the old G&W Collections for the GB, I decided the Hanafuda cards are a much better use of my points.

I don't really feel like going through all that Hanafuda love (even though the cards ARE amazing), but they recently posted a new

INTENDING TO BUY

game. The game? FIRE EMBLEM on the DS. Don't forget, you get 10 points for expressing your intention once you purchase the game... and another 10 points if you purchase it within the first SEVEN days of release.

That's effectively 50 points for a DS game.
30 Points for the Game itself
10 points for registering after declaring intention
10 points for registering within 7 days of launch

Even if you plan on waiting, it's always good to take part in the intention surveys for when any secondary market (read: gamestop used game) purchases.
I'm at 570 coins and the Picross DS didn't count :wall:

I hate how selective Nintendo is being on which games are accepted and not.
I hear you. Electroplankton gets you coins but Picross does not?

So basically this is Nintendo's way of ensuring all of the hardcore Nintendo fans buy their new releases in the first few days.
I wonder if that means no more incentives to pre-order Nintendo titles at B&M (since Nintendo probably figures 10 coins is enough)...
Other than the Mario Galaxy coin, how many pre-order specials have they done?

Dates on that intend to buy are weird, but I've already preordered, so yes!

Edit: Heh, oh yeah, the pre-order bonus for Fire Emblem. But since that's also the first intend-to-buy title since launch of the Club, I think we're safe.

Do you have post-play surveys coming for any of your games? If so you may be set. 10 points per post-play survey. You get one per game that qualified for points in the first place (not counting WiiWare/VC games, which *only* count for post-play). I think you get the post play surveys 1 month after registering the games, but don't quote me on it.

I believe I can now verify that post-play surveys come exactly one month after you register a game. I've been checking each day recently and received post-play surveys only today for all games I registered exactly one month ago. We got 6 more surveys. After we register two of them we'll be up to 600 points. I'm going to save the rest for July.

They have done stylii for Phantom Hourglass also, but in general I agree that they haven't done anything good for a long time. (I still compare everything to the Zelda bonus disk!)

The Zelda bonus disc rocked. Don't forget about the Brain Age 2 stylus set.

My kids want to get the Mario game case and rainbow stylus set (the one with the goomba), so tonight we'll fill out two post-plays and then put in an order for that. I hope we see a 4 day turnaround like some of you have seen.

I also filled out the intend-to-buy for Fire Emblem even though I don't have any real intention to buy it. Why not? Who knows what will pass through my hands in the future. I might as well fill in intend-to-buys every time, right? Or... do we think that they will stop giving you these if you keep failing to actually buy the games? Hmmm.
Fire Emblem will be getting the music CD, iirc... so I doubt they will replace bonuses w/ coins.
Thanks for the heads up for this game, dyeknom. It is coming out February 16. That should the only game I buy from amazon on February. I better register my Fire Emblem (wii) but I don't want to open the sealed game yet.

I could not get it to redeem my downloaded games. I connected my WiiConnect24 account to my Club Nintendo account and re-downloaded all my games, but no luck.

You need to send a message to support. The instructions are on the support page.

50 coins away from ordering Game & Watch. Getting Fire Emblem the day it comes out, so the "intend to buy" survey and registering the game should give me 40 coins, then I have two post-play surveys I haven't done yet so that'll get me to 800. Then it just becomes saving for when it restarts.

You'll actually get 50 points for FE, with the 10 bonus points for registering within 4 weeks of release.

The Phantom Hourglass stylus and the Brain Age 2 stylus set weren't actually for pre-orders; they were rewards for registering the game after purchase.

You got the Zelda OOT/Master Quest disc for pre-ordering Wind Waker, but the Zelda Collection came free for registering select games (I think you could also get it by subscribing to Nintendo Power).

We just got our Mario (goomba) DS game case and I have to say that it's pretty dissappointing. It looks good, sure, but it's pretty worthless as an actual game case because it doesn't hold the games in well at all. My kids have dropped it at least 5 times tonight and every time all or nearly all the games have gone flying out. Sometimes they fly out just moving the case around with a little too much enthusiasm too. It's pretty ridiculous. This wouldn't have been as much of an issue if the case clasped shut somehow, but it doesn't. I suggest picking something else. I wish I'd tried harder to convince my kids to get the Animal Ceossing cards. :( Oh well.

EDIT: To be clear, when I say they "dropped it", I don't mean they necessarily dropped it from 5 feet (thought that certainly happened too.) I mean in some cases they dropped it from, say, 7 inches above a table onto the table and games came flying out of it. I tried dropping it yesterday morning from about 3 inches above the table and even from that "height" 1 game popped out. It's ridiculously insecure. So I would say to only get these game cases as a collectors item if you are into that sort of thing, not to actually use. I'm actually thinking of calling or emailing Nintendo to ask if we can return it and get something else, because it is so disappointingly useless.

Sounds like the real problem here is your children. Just gt rid of them and the games won't fall out of the case any more.

No - you haven't seen me with the case. It would only get worse. :)

Glad I checked in here - signed up for Fire Emblem as I know I will get it eventually. So the way it works is I'll get 10 extra points no matter when I register, but I'll only get the (second) extra 10 if I register within 4 weeks from release?

I suppose I could just go preorder the damn thing, but I hate paying the GS DS tax - or is this game really $35 everywhere? And I heard something about a preorder bonus? It might be worth it for that... But recently I've really been holding out for used games since I can get most new releases within weeks for much cheaper with GS coupons + Edge. And with the last 4 or 5 Nintendo games I've gotten that way I've even gotten unused registration codes that way.

OK, just did some research and answered my own questions - a bit... GS is charging the DS game tax (it is $29.99 everywhere else), so that sucks... That means either I wait for a used one or preorder it from Gamecrazy or Amazon with the small amount of credit I have there. But, I don't see a preorder bonus anywhere. Did you say there was a soundtrack Botticus?

Art cell at GS, unless they took it down. So they did!

That's what it was. I'll decide when I get the game if it's worth $7.

Ordered the Hanafuda set last Thursday and received it this past Monday - now that's fast shipping!

I did inquire about exchanging our Mario (goomba) case for something else, but got rejected. Policy is that once ordered, you can't return an item unless it is defective, and then only for exchange. :( We have found that if you turn the game cartridges sideways they hold in better, however, this is not due to the case being improperly constructed. It's clear that when putting them in sideways that is the wrong way. However, because it is the wrong way, it holds them in with more force. So it's a partial workaround. Not entirely satisfying, but it will have to do, I guess. I still definitely recommend picking anything other then the DS game cases. They suck.
They looked pretty cheap from the get-go.
You're doing it wrong.

It should be Exhibit A as to why you should keep buying Nintendo stuff. They thanked *you* personally. They appreciate you. You don't want to let them down, do you?

You got a who from the what now? Living so close to NOA why the hell haven't I gotten anything yet?

Maybe it's just as well - given the memory corruption problems my Wii is having Reggie would be lucky if I didn't make the short trip up there to shove that thing where the sun don't shine...
You got a who from the what now? Living so close to NOA why the hell haven't I gotten anything yet?
Yeah, I want one too. I wonder what the threshold is, but no matter what it is I've got to be above it. I have so much stuff registered, but I didn't bother doing it until after the switchover so I wonder if I don't count.

I should get a consolation note from Reggie for having foolishly picked one of those DS game cases. "We're so sorry to hear of your recent loss of Club Nintendo points...." :)

I want an apology from Reggie regarding the recent lack of good VC games. I didn't snatch up and redeem all these clearance points at Wal-Mart fer nuthin'.

How many points does Link's Crossbow training earn you? Surely it can't be 50 like the "full" Wii games.

I'm guessing you won't count. The letter says something about noticing how much stuff you had registered at the conversion from MyNintendo to Club Nintendo...

It counted as a full game for me - 50 points for registering and 10 later for the post-play survey.

Dammit. That's kind of what I figured.
