CocheseUGA's custom covers - requests welcome
If the original design is only 72dpi it's going to be near if not impossible to increase the resolution and still get a high quality printout from it. If you have access to the original graphics material I suggest you start from scratch with a 300dpi image. I realize that might be big hassle but it's probably your only option at this point.
That was the problem. The original graphic I found for the logo was 72dpi. Oh well, I'll see if I can't manipulate this one to look like the first one.

OK, I think I've gotten the final template done. But again, my problem is a lack of quality 300dpi scans. Hmm. I'll have to do a bit more in-depth searching to see what I can find.
The 3 I gave are not good?
nah, they just require a TON of editing and cleaning up, which he probably can't do very well yet.

More time consuming than anything else, I gather. Haven't tried yet, but when I went to look at them, the links didn't work.

OK, here we go:

Changes:
-Went back to original orange border on front top
-Added original white DC curve to front cover. It will look like that on all.
-Retained revised SEGA spine logo
-Added orange back bottom with game info. (Thanks mooky and Cyrix for the inspiration) Portion contains information relevent to game, and actual barcode

-The back image is just a tester, it's the inside of the original case. Not the best DPI on the front or back cover images, but you get the picture.

Great work cochese! Very good stuff so far. The powerstone in post #55 looks amazing. If you get a chance, would a grandia II or a sega rally case be feasable? Which ever would be easier for you, either would be great.

Also, anyone willing to print these out in very high quality color? I would pay for a good set of covers.

Thanks everyone, Justin

Thanks for the kind words. If you've been following the OTT, I posted a couple others in the revised series.

Speed Racer (see first post) is your CAG source for printing.

Requests are welcome, and I will see what I can do. I would like to say that I am going to complete my personal collection first, since I can see them up close and personal, I can best judge them on the format and what looks best.

I'm not spending quite as much time on this as I did, because I want to concentrate on giving my girls as much attention as possible. Also, the design template I've come up with is pretty much going to be final, unless someone can get me 300dpi or better back logos. The images I use on here are the ones I think are the best and look the best. If you have better quality images you think would look better, don't hesitate to give me a PM.

hey, Cochese....

do you, or does anyone else, know where i might be able to find templates for slim dvd cases? i been wanting to put all my demo discs from PSM and various other sources into custom slim cases, but i cant seem to get the measurements right for customizing and printing....finding a template would be a tremendous help! thanks alot for your time! -dashobbity
What color cases are people putting these in? Black? Just curious.
If the game had a black Dreamcast side logo, then I use a black DVD case. If the game had a white Dreamcast side logo, then I use a white or clear DVD case. I don't know about everyone else.

I personally am using white dvd cases just so it helps them stick out from the other system's cases.

PS2 - Black/Blueish
Xbox - Green
Dreamcast - White
Gamecube - Black
Are these being uploaded to snackbar as you finish them? They look great to me - keep up the good work!
Not right now. The last work I did on them was experimenting on cleaning up the covers and finding hi-res images.

Here's what I've got so far:

The Power Stone edition in post #56 is final, unless I can convert the rest of the text.

Sonic Adventure:

It's not done yet. I like the 'shadowy' Sonic at right, but not all the text is perfect, and it's a bit too much black. If I can get the text perfect, I can insert another image behind it to give it a bit more color.

It might be awhile before I can work on this consistently again. I'm moving in 3 weeks, and the girls are going to start being more active. If I can get a schedule down and get them to nap regularly, it will help.

BTW, that Sonic evolved from the one below, as you can see I'm trying to make the cases look authentic without standard electronic text. If I could get these stupid SEGA fonts to work correctly, I could really whip some ass.

I have a request :)

I'm looking for backs of the games Sonic Adventure, Dead Or Alive and Chu Chu Rocket. I recently bought these games second hand only to figure out that the backs were missing when they arrived at my house.

I have the games PAL so it would be cool if it's possible to make them fit in a regular PAL Dreamcast case, so that it has only one big side with the title on it attached to the back.

Just scans of the originals would be cool too btw, if someone has them laying around ;) .

Wow, those are really incredible. I know in just tooling around with GBA covers and trying to do some Saturn ones that they can be a real pain and a lot of fun all at the same time. My brief stint making Genesis covers almost drove me insane ;)

If you could use a hand with anything, let me know. I can offer cover hosting if need be (the links appear to be broken). You mentioned having issues with Sega fonts. I'm assuming you were getting them from here, but thought I'd throw this link at ya if you hadn't seen it yet:
