I just trade 6 ps2 games and a ps1 game to Coconuts and got fifty bucks exactaly, I had previousley stopped in EB and the guy offered me twenty five bucks store credit, and as you know they take off 20% when getting cash, coconuts gave me cash no prob,

Coconuts may be affiliated with FYE, if so feel free to lock this thread as there is already a FYE thread out there

More accurately, Coconuts and FYE are both owned by Transworld Corp.

But, what games did you trade in? Without knowing what games you're dealing in, it's hard to guage the deal . . .

It's understood that unless you have a deal (coupon or preorder trade-in) we should never, never, ever trade-in to Gamestop or EBgames . . . honestly . . . give your old games to poor orphans before you accept a $2 on a working game!!!!!!

I'll have to try FYE . . . thanks for the tip.
My point was that FYE gave me double of what EB would have given me in credit in cash!
If you trade the right games, all TWEC stores will give you more than double than what EB will give you.

Trans World Entertainment Corporation.

FYE, Specs Music, Coconuts Music/Movies, Wherehouse Music, and a couple others are all under this company.

They should change their name to my guess

My first trade-in experience with Coconuts... about 3 weeks ago. I brought in a few games I don't play any more to get trade-in values. They clerk said "We don't buy used games". I said "Sure you do. Look at that sign behind you". The clerk then said "I know what the sign says, but your games are used and we can't buy them". I asked for the manager. Then the manager explains that they only buy used games from the original owners. Meaning my games were from EB and had stickers on the covers. I asked where it says that on their signs. She said "It doesn't, but we won't buy your used, used games". I left in disgust.

After reading this thread, I thought I would try again with some old games I have without stickers on the covers. I go to the counter and the clerk says "We can't buy your games today. We already have enough". I said I only want store credit. He says he can't do it. I ask for the manager again. The manager says "We can't buy your games today, we have too many". I asked why they have signs all over the store and windows displaying to the outside that they do buy games. She said "We will buy games in the future, just not right now".

Well, that about sums it up. Coconuts sucks bigtime. Totally unprofessional and unpredictable. I would not recommend conducting business there to anyone. I"ll never go back. What a total waste of retail space.

That's false advertising/ lawsuit material. Used used games? I guess they don't take any two-player games because there's a good chance that it has been played by more than one person. The first visit was bad enough, but include the second visit and that would make anyone boil. That's like having a sign that says, "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE: 80% OFF EVERYTHING, " and then having regular prices and telling customers, "Every business will eventually close their doors."

That sucks. If it's worth it to you I would call customer service (you can get the number from twec.com or another TWEC website I'm sure) and make a complaint. No way they should get away with doing that.
