I've played COD4 (borrowed a friends) and completed it some time ago.

I am considering purchasing it again it have for my collection buut I was wondering what the current differences are between the original and the GOTY ed.

I understand that the initial GOTY run game with free map codes but they stopped that a long time ago. So if there is no longer a map code included new with GOTY or the code has been used (after buying used from gamestop or something), what is the difference between the two editions?

Thank you.

Since they've stopped the Map codes I believe the only difference is the cover art.
No difference other than cover art and reduced price vs the original release.
By reduced price I assume you mean the $50 GOTY (is that right?) VS $60 original price?

Thank you both for your responses.

I just went used, via eBay. Got mine just a couple weeks ago for $13.50 shipped... CoD games never seem to drop in price so that's the best way to get a decent price imo.

Also, I believe by buying the GOTY version, the disc has been updated with any patches that have been released so you have the most current version. I know Fallout worked that way. It is true that the map pack token card is no longer included, nor is the code valid.

Yeah I meant original release price. I'm sure you can get either one now for $20.

If I picked up the Reg Ed. once I sign on to live with it, wouldn't it automatically update?
If so, I guess the difference might be taking up HDD space vs on the disc?

yes, but the difference between hdd space and space on a disc for a few updates in minute, it wouldn't really make a difference. So go with whichever one you find cheaper.
