Coded Arms reviewed - Scores are mixed so far

The IGN review made a big mistake when reviewing the controls, they said it doesn't let you set the analog to "steer and run".

But if you set the face buttons to sidestep and look up/down it automatically sets the analog to steer and move.

the IGN review mentions that there's some serious slowdown in the game but all the previews said there was no slowdown at all. have any of you (who already have or played the game) confirm if there's really that much slowdown?

you should send them a note about this... It could possibly deter people from buying the game !

There may be slowdown when fighting a ton of enemies, but it never went into "slow motion" or even enough for me to really take notice of while playing.

And about sending IGN an email about their mistake, I have done so at least 10 times in the past (only about major issues) and they have ignored it every single time. I think they have a no-correction policy (maybe they don't want to admit they are wrong?).

So picked up Coded Arms FINALLY!

The game: Not so good.

I've had much expectations for this game as it is the ONLY game that i thought would be good.

I have 6 PSP games and all are pretty boring except Lumines..

Now im thinking of selling PSP because all the games are either ported from PS2 or pretty much Suck..

Not to mention the 39.99 or 49.99 price tag.

I guess I'm going to wait on this game due to the VERY mixed reviews. I'lll wait until I can get it for around $20-$30.

Got it today...

Seems good. I was not expecting much due to reviews, which made it even nicer to find that its a "good" game. I got Meteos at the same time and I got Curby last night so I am all tide up playing them all to some degree.

got this yesterday, and can say it's the most impressive looking title on the system. I am having a blast trying to unlock all the 40+ items/hacks. One thing I think most people won't be able to experience, but if possible, is a good enough reason to buy: I went over to my freinds house and we tried out the multiplayer for a while. I can definitly say it was a blast, and since all levels are random (you can customize the randomness a bit to create your own world... and if you like it, the game will keep record of it). It was only 1 on 1 but it was the best multiplayer I've played on the PSP so far (yes, better than Twisted Metal HO online).

I do say this though, the controls may turn off alot of people, but just keep readjusting them until you feel the msot comfortable. Also, a high note: the boss fights are pretty fun as well.

And for those who are concerned about the game's style, this game is loaded with amazing "hacker" style... sorta a mix between matrix in japanese cyber punk... or something liek that.

I rented it, and it's a fun game. The controls are kind of pissing me off, so I need to try some different versions. The game looks really good, and although the music is repetitive, it lets you know when enemies are around. I like it so far.

I have been playing this game for a couple weeks now. I'm on infinity mode, level 60. I think it's a superfun game that is perfectly built for portable gaming. Dunno why it got such bad reviews.

Have y'all seen this: http://www.usvgl.com/codedarms/codedarmsrange/weapons_range.php?loc=www.usvgl.com/codedarms/index.php&range=pistol_range

It lets you blow up any website you want using weps from Coded Arms. Funny. I shot up a DS:

I just came back from the mall where I played Coded Arms for four hours with my buddy and this girl we met there. I'd never Coded multiplayer before, it's sweet. Glitchless, fun, awesome play. So weird after playing alone forever, to get those reminders that you're playing a real person, who is far more accurate of a shooter than the CPU.

I suck at getting my accuracy down in this game. Seriously, I didn't want to believe the reviews but damn the controls really drag down the rest of the game.....my fingers are raw after only two hours of light play :/

Heh. It does take some getting used to. But that's the thing, after my initial four hours (what controller setup are you playing on?) I got the controls, then it gets really fun. Now I play without the auto-lock. Just gotta hang in there...

Control Type A for me. Its the same kind of setup I used for the old n64 fps classics (PD), but lnow after all these years of dual-analog goodness i just can't find my groove. Oh, well -- its still a decent game and all, but it seems too outdated and bland on the PSP.

I use Control Type C. It's a little easier for me, actually, because I'm left handed. I dunno, I think this game is good. I think if you compare it to non-handheld console shooters it doesn't quite add up, but we have to remember that it is a portable game. As I see it, handheld devices are meant for peopel who have some free time, i.e. waiting in airports, in a doctor/dentist's reception room, between classes, or on the bus. The games that work work best because a) you can play it for 10 minutes and save. and b) simple, intruitive play -- determined by a handheld's limited control schemes. It's true that Coded Arms doesn't have much depth, but it IS fun. Fun is the point. I think people have PS3 sized expectations for the PSP.
