Coheed and Cambria - A Favor House Atlantic - Whaddya think?

My b/f saw them open for Thursday. He said the singer sounds a little different live, but he still sounds like the guy from Rush.

They sound like Rush and if you enjoy the single then you would probably think the album was fairly solid. I guess I like them I've got 2 of their cd''s.

if you can ignore the fact that they get lumped in with a bunch of bad bands and they look like idiots, then they are a pretty decent band.

Hello Apollo. Where should I begin?

For those of you poor bastards who don't know nor have ever given a shit about music that DOESN'T suck, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 is part 3 in a four part sci-fi rock opera based on the graphic novel Claudio (lead singer) is working on right now. Second part is The Second Stage Turbine Blade, fourth part will be Burning Star 4 and the first part has not been released yet (a prequel if you will).
Also, if you are reading this topic, you are one of two people:

1. You own a Co&Ca CD.
2. You will buy one. Or I'll shaq-fuing kill you.
I'll never buy the CD and I ain't afraid of no gopher

i like em, been a fan for a while. they remind me of placebo

favor house atlantic's been stuck in my head 3 out of 7 days this week, and thats a good thing.

They are pretty good. A friend of mine told me about them a few months back. Definitely reminiscent of Rush though. Good stuff!
never heard this song, but cant stand the band at all. their live show is pretty dissapointing too
one thing they arent is dissappointing live. excellent musicians.
How claudio sings like he does and plays those ridiculous riffs at the same time is is amazing.
I saw them a while back with fata and shai hulud...so good

while im not going to bash your taste. i thought they were pretty bland live. granted i havent seen them in over 2 years, but when i did see them, they just kinda stood there and did their thing, the singer moved around a bit, but i like bands being more actives and stuff for a live show, and they just wernt what i like

ill agree their good musicians, i just dont like them

yea id say they were bland too if they just stood there.
I have never seen a bassist rock out as hard as theirs the guy stands 5 feet from the mic screaming and you can still hear him, their drummer goes nuts too, he just looks crazy when he plays. if you get the chance check them out again, maybe someones dog died before that show or something, I dunno, that show was close to two years ago too.

since this topic is still near the top, i felt the need to elaborate a bit.

i saw this band a few years ago. they opened for some really bad bands like student rick and god knows who else. i went there specifically for them, and even though i was supposed to be on the list, i wasn't so i had to pay $10 to get in. they played their half hour set, which i was pleased with, and then i left. there were like two people there who actually cared. it was fun and they put on a good show.

about six months later i went to a show where they were supposed to open up for shai hulud. i'm not that into shai hulud, since i can't take a single one of their songs seriously because their old singer is the guitar player for new found glory, and it's hard to swallow him singing a song called "a profound hatred of man" when he's in some "wacky" video with that fat guy who still thinks its funny to take his shirt off. but anyways, i went. shai hulud missed it anyways, their van broke down or something. coheed and cambria were ok, but not as good as the previous show. they had gained a little more popularity, and they had also gained a little more suck.

fast forward a year and a half. now they are all the rage, on the covers of alternative press and the like, garnering a ton of attention, wearing truck driver hats and having bad piercings. i was given free tickets to a show where they opened up for thursday and thrice, and figured that even though it's a lot of effort to actually drive that 20 minutes and find a parking spot, i may as well go. and i did. and they sucked. it had nothing to do with the fact that there were a bajillion kids there. well, maybe a little bit. but it also had a lot to do with the fact that they just weren't that good. not as bad as thursday, mind you, because thursday is repulsive. but they still weren't that good.

all that being said, the recent album is pretty ok, it has some good songs on there. it's not really that much of an advancement over the first cd, but i think sometimes people put too much emphasis on advancement and not enough on just writing solid songs. but yeah. they sucked live.

how is thursday repulsive exactly?
