Command & Conquer: The 1st Decade 12 games for $40

I'll definately pick it up once it hits $20.

I just wish there was a place to sell used PC games now, I'd get rid of my Generals / Zero Hour, too bad EB stopped taking them.

What? No Sole Survivor? Heh.

Yes, I paid full price for Sole Survivor on release day. Second worst game ever made.

It's $30 at Fry's tomorrow and Friday. It's a really good deal. I wanted to pick it up only for Generals and Zero Hour, since Generals and Zero Hour goes for $30 already.

I own almost half the games on there, but I doubt I will ever play the earlier ones if I pick this up.
i hope it has online for the first command and conquer. that would be awesome.
I was thinking about getting this too, but people on the EA message boards are saying that there is no multiplayer in the original C&C nor is there multiplayer in Red Alert 1. Also several other issues with install ect. I was really excited about this but I think I'll pass now.

EA killed C&C,

RIP Westwood Studios. :(

Also, the box art is horrible. Where's the soldier with goggles and some sort of explosion reflected on said goggles?

Wow, has it been 10 years already since the original C&C came out? I still remember getting that game on my birthday. I remember being blown away by how amazing the installation was. That was probably the best install program ever.

Hell yeah. I still remember an issue of PC Gamer at the end of that year where they made a category of "best installation routine" or something like that just so that they could give C&C's install an award on it's own.

The online multiplayer in the Windows versions of C&C and Red Alert used the old Westwood Online IRC based service. It is no surprise that this is no longer supported.

Still, it would have been nice if EA had followed what Blizzard did with the "Warcraft II battle.net edition" and put in modern multiplayer. I guess that was hoping for too much though.

Apparently there is a fan based workaround to get C&C and RA1 to work online. The tutorial is here.

The EA Rep said it was not officially supported but I guess it works and hey its better than no multiplayer.

same here but a lot of people, including myself are a little po'ed aright now at EA for f'ing up a great series. I was really hoping for remastered audio and video or at least the ablitlity to watch ALL FMV from all the games on the bonus dvd but did we get it? Nope. Good thing I didn't buy it..maybe they will fix it.

If they aren't going to remaster it then im not buying cause i bought these games the day the came out and play nostop in 4 FFA on a LAN with friends good times.
But now CnC suxs We try out Genrals and zero hour but they were not CnC felt like a blizzard RTS clone :(

:bs: They probably found a few "un-used" discs lying around the old westwood building and thought "Hey! Lets put all of these games in a pack and sell them for 40 bucks without remastering them". I'll probably still buy it though. I can still beat the computer at the Original C&C.

I really find it hard to believe that Westwoods/EA does not have the ORIGINAL uncompressed footage (meaning all the video/audio on tape prior to compression) stored somewhere were they can pull it out, remaster it a bit and dump it to dvd. Those who were lucky to get the collectors edition of RA2 were lucky to get the bonus dvd with the cutscenes. So we know it exists. Generals is actually a fun game to play, but should NOT have the CNC tag on it as it has no relation to the series.

check planetcnc.com for updates on the situation. because of this I am very nervous about EA's handling of the "next" CNC game.

I remember BETA TESTING C&C before it came out

I feel soooo old.

But man, that was fun.

So with that thought, aren't all the older C&C games gonna run kinda fast on modern rigs? Or did they do a little emulation slow down on them?

That is a bizarre thing to say. The C&C games aren't that old. I imagine every commercial game programmed after the introduction of the 486 has had proper timing.
