Comp USA on Stevens Crk Liquidation

is that branch also closing out?
maybe coz of BB being adjacent, and CC not far also.

when did this "liquidation" started?

The liquidation began about 10 days ago or so and will be going on for a while, until they shut down operations in a month or so -- or so a staffer there told me. Most of their games are only 10% off right now, though a few are 20%. There are other relatively minor discounts on hardware, when I was last there on Monday last week. I haven't checked back there since then, so it may be a better liquidation.

hmmm... might check it out. who knows, they might have some good stuff like printers and all, even though they're like the smallest CompUSA branch around here.

It appears the Comp Usa at Stonestown in San Francisco might be doing this too. Last time I walked by (about a week ago) they had a big banner out front declaring a storewide clearance sale "Up to 40% off".

I never bothered to walk in to see what was offered though.

is this close to the valley fair mall? would anyone know how much time of a walking distance it would be from the mall to the compusa?

stopped by today. nothing good.

did see Donkey Konga 2 (without bongos), with 2 different price points. Something like $16.XX and then $26.XX. There was also 2 with Bongos, by the accessories, no prices marked.

This place is a waste of time. Most of the good games have been picked clean several months ago.

thanks. i was thinking of going today if not for crap load of stuff. but hey, they'll probably just re-distribute their inventory to other locations anyway. they just want to reduce the load for moving out later on.

The CompUSA in Memphis, TN is also liquidatings. They said that as the month goes on they will continue to markdown every week. 20%, 30%, 40% and such.

Jesus, when did they open a compusa on Stevens Creek? If it is in the shopping mall I am thinking off then didnt that used to be a Good Guys?

Man, I miss the bay...

yeah, i think the one in Stevens Creek was a former Good Guys store. that was after CompUSA acquired GoodGuys. that store is actually pretty small, and tucked in a corner.

topnotch is right. that was an old good guys.

that brings back an old memory. that good guys store was where i bought the SNES version of Fatal Fury.

Back in the day...

i was at BestBuy Santana Row branch, just an hour ago. for some strange reason i was inclined to checkout the CompUSA adjacent to the store. i know i'm gonna regret it, since that CompUSA store would really disappoint me, the last time I was there.

so i was like, what the heck, since i'm in the area. and i might see something and let everyone know what could be worth checking.

walked-in and found like a handful of customers. there was more staff than the customers, probably just me and 3 people. creepy.

head down to the video games section. the video games are 15% off at the checkout.

browsed some titles, and to my surprise:

Asphalt GT(DS) -> $12.73 ($14.99 - 15% off)
Rayman (DS) -> $12.73 ($14.99 - 15%)

those were the only games worth picking, especially if you missed out the clearance from CC or TRU among other things. i don't see these titles on any B&M stores, except maybe for some Fry's stores.

the rest are ridiculously overpriced. like:

Kirby (GC) $29.xx
Donkey Konga 2 (GC) $29.xx

for PSP titles, the lowest was around $19.99, but the titles aren't worth picking. you're better off getting the best ones from Target or Sears.

so it isn't really a good closeout deal, even the recent clearance sale they had with all those ridiculous Managers Special $2-off, those items didn't really made a dent, evem with further discounts.

it seems that they already reduced the titles and redistribute the stocks to other branches. the glass cabinets kinda looked like they were already empty before the closeout, as in the past i rarely see decent titles anyways. there was more copies of PingPals (DS) and Sprung (DS), but the good ones? nah.l

even the rest of the store were already tagged with their respective discounts, but still they hardly move or at least any sign of people even getting them.

so the bottom line, it was a complete waste of time. i was hoping to see more price reductions, but i didn't came out empty handed since i bought some titles worth selling to ebay. LOL.

but yeah, if you guys are looking for something or any titles, i'll see if i can remember them from the top of my head, so that you guys won't bother coming down to the store and walked out pissed. but all i can remember that the recent releases were already out or probably moved out to other stores.

so for the love of god, if you don't wanna be disappointed, just shop elsewhere and who knows what other deals will pop out in the future.

yup. you are wasting gas money going to this particular store/location.
didn't that Comp USA [ next to tony & alba's ] just open up months ago?
RE-opened as Good Guy/CompUSA combo.

the CompUSA/Good Guys Super Store in San Mateo off Hillsdale is much, much better. plus, there's a Tower Records, too!

a friend of mine just called, telling me that the Asphalt Urban GT (DS) was all gone. CUSA Stevens Creek was cleared out of those Asphalt copies.

yeah, i told him yesterday about it, since those are the only worth picking. :D for now.

Woohoo, I got lucky and grabbed Shenmue II for the Xbox for 3.99 at this CUSA. Ace in the hole for the day. I picked up a few other mediocre titles for 3.99 but hell, at that price, how can you go wrong.

I'm heading to CUSA Stonestown Mall at San Francisco.

any comments to those who went there already? if not, wish me luck!

and I'll pass by at San Mateo as well. I hear those Baten Kaitos (GC) are $9.98. then I dunno about that 20% thing that I hear.

I'd suggest going on to CUSA site and checking out their blowout list by store location, including SF. Last time I checked, I wasn't moved to enthusiasm. But, YMMV ;-).

I'm trying to jog my brain, I recently saw Baiten Kaitos for the GC with the rare bonus music CD for 14.98 at a TRU in the Peninsula, but that was like a month ago.

okay, I got big hole... i mean big haul at CUSA Stonestown.
most are priced $9.98, then there's a 20% discount.

here's what I got from the Stonestown clearance: (already discounted)

:gc: Rogue Ops - $3.98
:gc: 1080 Avalanche - $ 7.98
:gc: Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King - $ 7.98
:gc: Medal of Honor: Rising Sun - $ 7.98
:gc: Rainbow Six 3 - $ 7.98

other than that, the PS2 & GC clearance titles are on one stand, while two bins are filled with XBox titles.

heading up there was much better than going to the Stevens Creek closeout.
