I picked up some coponent cables at best buy to use on my ps2, however I am unable to get any video to display.

In the system menu i have tried both the pr yr etc setting and the rgb setting but dont get anything. However if i hook the s-video connection up while the system is on, it still displays. It also appears that the settings i make prior are saving.


Im hooking it up to an infocus x1 projector that I use component on with my dvd player. However the component connection is being converted to "monitor" type input on the projector.

Is there something im over looking? Or does the ps2 have limitations on the connection?

I hook my PS2 up to a TV using component, and I know only one of the two settings you can choose will work at all for it. It sounds like it could be a setting on your projector that might need changing or tweaking, when the wrong one is chosen on the PS2 it just results in a scrambled/static picture, not a blank screen. I have no experience with hooking up to a projector though, sorry.

EDIT: PS2 is capable of being hooked up via projector, because we used to do it for game tournaments at school using the classrooms. Just try every video setting your projector is capable of and hopefully you'll get something with one of them.
 
You have to select component as the output in the setup. Turn on the PS2 without anything in the tray and go to the system browser. You can change the output type in there.

Did you even read the first post? He stated clearly that he tried both modes and nothing has worked so far.

i was taking a dump at the time, so my focus was elsewhere.
