Im thinking of selling my Dell Demension 2350 and getting something that will play games better. Any suggestions or any good deals? Im not a big computer guy, so I dont really know any of the technical stuff. I was thinking of getting something at Bestbuy on Black Friday, because I have a shitload of best buy bucks.

But anyone have any advice?

Id like something that would play Halflife 2, thats just about it

Odds are any PC on a black friday deal wont be HL2 worthy (or if it is very low settings) Get together $1000 bucks and buy a serious PC or else just buy an xbox and HL2 for it when it comes out.

Keep on watch during BF for an E-machines that has a PCI-E (PCI-Express x16) slot, with a good ram and processor, then just buy a good vid card for 200-300 and youd be good to go

Build your own. If you don't know how. Find a gamer geek and pay them to do it.
I build machines for people at work. If find most people are just nervous about markup, so I just do a flat rate. I tell them what to buy, usually giving them a list of newegg part numbers, and then I just charge them a flat rate of $50 to $100 to build the machine for them. (depends on how complicated it is)

If you want something that will run games ok, not a monster machine, but upgradeable...
Look into an entry level Athlon 64 cpu on a decent motherboard, 512 to 1gb of ram, and a SATA hard drive. Then pick a good video card. Geforce 6600GT's are relatively cheap right now and are good bang for your buck. You can reuse your optical drive from your old machine.

this guy's got it right... i prefer pricewatch (prices are always better new egg is ridiculous)... also the holiday 2005 edition of maximum pc teaches you how to put it together yourself and save 100 bux
i cant believe you used the word good in referance to an e-machine...
I can't believe you give advice regarding something you know absolutely nothing about.

If he keeps his monitor etc .. He doesnt need $1000 to play new games. He could build or buy one quite a bit cheaper.
