Conan - Gen Discussion
Has this been confirmed to be censored? Just because the demo Mission doesn't have nekkid boobies doesn't mean they aren't there...
well it wont be the first time that the US version is the only version censored.
I wonder if Red Sonja is in this game?
I think the game follows the works of Robert E. Howard in which he does not encounter her, at least not to my knowledge.
One of the worst demos I have ever played.
Yeah, it really just felt like a clunkier version of God of War. Nothing really memorable or particularly special about it.

Red Sonya was created by Robert E. Howard as a 16th century gun slinging warrior. Roy Thomas and Barry Smith reworked her (and her name) as a Conan character. I love wikipedia for this kind of stuff.

The graphics are reminiscent of Frank Frazetta's Conan art... and the story/dialogue is quite similar to the original R.E. Howard stories.

Anyone who was expecting this to be Ahhnold's style of Conan is a putz. :)

Like it was said earlier in the thread... "It's f'in CONAN."
Combat was way too slow and his moves were trying to have too much style and finesse for a barbarian. It should be more rough and straight forward like PS2 Shadow of Rome, where it feels like each of his moves have more impact.
Conan's not the Hollywood-style barbarian... "grog smash!" or anything like that. He's an archetype for all-action no-compromise warrior kings who become ruler by their own hand. This is more obvious in the stories than any of the movies related to Conan... (he does despise magic in all its forms, though...)

I mean, what do we expect? Thulsa Doom was a Kull villain... ;)

It's a must-purchase for me. :bouncy:

Me too! Except, I didn't read it enough!

Conan or not three things will keep me from geting this game. The controls suck and even with the voice acting not that good I don't mind it. What I dont like about the voice acting is it is not synced up with the movement of the mouth. To me it looked almost like the old Godzilla movies. That I can look over it being Conan but the controls I can't and the biggest thing that will stop me from geting this game is if it is censored. If it is then I will not even get it if it ever gets down to 20 bucks.

The controls I can try to get used to but still suck and will keep me from geting this if something better is out. If nothing better is out that I don't have and I have the cash I would get Conan. The voice and mouth movement not being synced I can get over but still sucks. What will keep me from geting any game is if it is censored. Hell even if they said Halo 3 might be censored I would have not got it.
This is how I would reimagine He-Man, with tons of blood and gore.
That's funny because He-Man is Conan reimagined as a kid friendly toy line. The original Masters of the Universe toys were to be Conan toys...

there's nothing like the smell of a freshly opened he-man figure LOL:drool:

I remember the cartoon. It was big around the same time as ThunderCats.

I liked the demo. It was fun chopping off guys arms. :)

I went in expecting crap and I liked it. Had fun.. that's all that matters for me.

I knew the whole He-man-Conan connection. I still would like to see a decent Masters of the Universe game. The last decent one was back on the Intellivision.

I've had the game for a while now and I can't say that I'm really impressed with it. It just didn't have that edge I was looking for to swoop me in.

Played the demo and gotta say I was very disappointed. I've been waiting for this game and I guess I was expecting more. Graphics where PS2 and game play was just too dull. I was hoping for more of a GOW type game, instead it's more like TMNT with blood.

Game was a good RENTAL, but it seems your combat skills mean NILL
when it comes to the boss battles...all that matters is if you can memorize button combos...

for instance...

You will have just LOST your Raven Plague Spell.

This is the final stage in which he will engage you in hand-to-hand and AREN'T
you glad of that !!

This time he's PROPER mad, and uses the following as his main attacks.

A) Charged-up unblockable hit (with a delay beforehand so you can get out
of the way - roll to avoid);
B) 3-hit combo (fully blockable - either block or roll away to avoid);
C) Fist Slam (raises his fist and slams it into the ground, creating a
part of his body to shoot through the ground and strike out at you).
He can either grab you or just stab you this time too.
D) Downward-swipe with his claws and then a stab (which remains dangerous
for a good second or so after his animation has ended).
E) Block-breaker combo with unblockable finish (sounds like an advert for
BLEACH or something !! This is an aggravating combo where the energy
trails are orange for the first four hits, and then red for the fifth,
unblockable attack. Roll away to avoid it.

Once he has taken 100% damage in this form, you will be promped to press Y, X,
B, A, Y, tap X, B at the appropriate time to BEAT that MUTHA down, which takes
us to the PENULTIMATE stage of the fight ...

Learning all these BUTTON COMBOS runied the end of this game for me, I didnt even bother to finish when I got to graven..... this is supposed to be a COMBAT GAME, not a button/move memorization game like dragons lair! Glad I didnt BUY this game...

I'm confused...the button sequence itself and not the ridiculous last boss ruined it for you? Despite being a combat game, I can't imagine one button sequence at the end being THE reason for not liking this. Hell, God of War has a ton of them and its a "combat game". If anything, the unpolished gameplay should have been what ruined this.

*Disclaimer: I thoroughly enjoyed the demo - just not a $60 game to me.

I agree, not a fan of button sequences at all. If Ninja Gaiden has any button sequences I'll probably slit my wrists.

But in order to slit them you will need to press X, Y, LB, RT, LT.

yeah given he's a barbarian and they commonly detest any and all magic they even distrust magical items. That does strike me as just ....blasphemy.
I still can't believe they gave Conan magic. Total blasphemy.
Yeah, if they wanted magic, he should have had a npc character follow him around and when you hit the magic button, they cast the spell.

Obviously you have not played the RETAIL VERSION... its not just ONE button sequence, its like 3-5 on EACH BOSS, thats 3-5 DIFFERENT combinations on EACH BOSS, for like a total of 25 combos... and if you dont hit them at the EXACT time, you start all over.. and there is no rythmn, you hit aab fast then like x slow then y super fast over and over but different button combinations. If you ever play the FULL VERSION you will see what I mean, and yes this RUINED the game for me. You earn credits to learn combat skills, but on the bosses THEY ARE USELESS AND DO NOT WORK ON THE BOSSES.

Again, it was a nice 2 day RENTAL, but definately would have been disappointed if I bought it, I want a combat game (all combat!) not some lame-o game like quitar ZERO where you have to do a bunch of button combos. If i want a combo, I'll order a big mac with cheese, and a large fry with a large coke, now thats a combo!

Confused about what "combos" I am talking about? then see http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/file/938400/50496

I won a copy of it, works for me, as I was interested in it, but probably never would have picked it up no matter how cheap it gets.
