I'm only taking my PSP back to school with me, and must leave my PS3 behind, but was curious as to whether or not using remote play I could copy PS1 and PSP games I buy from the PSN on the PS3 onto the PSP? Or does it need to physically be connected to the system to copy games? I know I can use the PC version of the store, but was curious as to whether or not it would work this way, such that I don't have to waste one of my 5 times downloading it.

I believe you have to connect the PSP to the PS3 physically to transfer PS1 games over. You could play them over remote play and keep the saves on the PS3, but that's not as reliable as having them on the PSP itself.
