Just stayed up most of the last two nights and played all but the final chapter of Condemned. I'm very impressed. Was playing with a friend, and we both jumped a number of times, and literally both screamed out loud (two grown men) more than once. Incredible atmosphere, great gameplay, and very creepy story. Just wanted to throw this out as a huge reccomendation for 360 owners who haven't given it a chance yet.

Yeah it's a pretty fun game, although the environment was giving my friend a headache, and me as well overtime. Though with some ginger pills I have not experienced headaches in FPS's anymore amazingly.

The only downside of the game is I heard It's beatable in twelve hours or less, and has no replaybility outside of unlocking some of the achievements. They should have added multiplayer for it. It wouldn't have been great, but atleast added some value to it.

I'm getting this later today from my dad as a Birthday present. I can't wait, this was by far the 360 game that impressed me the most, and I LOVE the demo.
10-12 hour games : The New standard.
You make it sound like 10-12 hours isn't long enough. People just don't have the time to play 25-40 hour games. As college student I don't have the luxury to sit here and play Dragon Quest VIII because it takes up too much of my time. Between work, class and hanging out with my friends I barely have enough time to play games.

So IMO i'm kind of glad that games are becoming shorter.

Amen. It's the main reason I've only bought a maximum of three RPGS a year for the last few years, and I don't frown on short games. I only bought KOTOR for the XBox, and the Suikoden games for the PS2. But I lost alot of interest in my PS2 once I decided not to buy as many RPGs years ago.

10-12 hour games considered short?! I still remember my brother and I pooling our money ($70) to get Streets of Rage 2 for Genesis. We beat it in 1 hour. On hard difficulty. But it was fun playing through again and again, just to see the graphics and experience the music, which were exceptional for that time. I loved DQVIII, but there's no way I could stand having most of my games last that long.

Beat this game a couple days ago, though "short" to a lot of people, I thought the game was a very good length for this type of game. for a game like this I don't think I would want to play it for 30 hours and so on.

I was encouraged to go back and to it again to find all the achievements, which I will probably do once I finish some titles I have backlogged.

I will mention as well that this game is really scary. I couldn't play more than one level at a time because the atmosphere was done so well for this game.

Yeah, if this were any longer I'd have grown bored with it. We pulled some marathon sessions to beat this thing in a weekend, but I had to turn it off last night because my shoulders and neck were sore from the tension. After 8 hours or so over two days, my nerves were shot.

I'm also in the 10-12 hour game length being preferred school of thought. As a parent of two young kids, my time is limited. Most good games can offer the best experience in 10 hours. Beyond that, I usually feel that the developer is "fluffing" the game with content that's not that fun in order to say that it's a long game. Wind Waker on GCN is a good example for me. There are always exceptions (particularly RPG's), but I'd take a 10 hour game over a 30 hour game in most cases.

I tried playing the demo and got motion sickness. Really a shame too - I was looking forward to this game.

I beat it in about 5 and a half hours or so, maybe 6 and a half counting the replays... It's definately an awsome game though. I probably enjoyed this more than the Silent Hill games. I don't mind games being under 10 hours either, I work full time with quite a bit of overtime and have a family to take care of, who has time for 80 hour games anymore except kids. Alot of the gamers have grown up like me and just want to have fun and not have to spend 80 hours to make it through a story...

Only bad thing about Condemded really is the main character's voice acting, it seems like he is the only one that did a cheasy job on it. Gameplay is pretty good once you get used to it.

I beat the game a few days ago (100%). I had to go through it twice to get all the achievements. I really enjoyed the game and i think the length of it was just fine. I would have found the game repetitive if it was any longer. I didnt really find the game as scary as I thought. The only levels that made me jump were the school and one of the underground levels for the subway (I think 4th level). Definately my fav launch game though for the 360

i love this game, its f'ed up and creepy. when you "find" what your looking for in the department store at the end of the level, it scared the crap out of me. walking into the dressing room and snapping pictures......ughhhh

Or, how about the locker room part where you had to "zoom in" on the body to get a better picture? I peed a little when that guy grabbed my hand while the camera was zoomed in on his face!

Am I the only one that thought the game was a bit too sluggish ? I enjoy the game non the less, but you seem to move really slow.

Things also appear to be way closer than they seem to me. When walking up to someone, you stop at what seems to have anough for 2 people to fit between. The same happens when fighting in melee combat. Hold a short pipe I can swing and hit someone running at me that I should no where near be able to reach yet.

Aside from that, still a decent game.

I thought the game was slow, reptitive, and short. I think they slowed the pace down to make the game seem longer. The graphics were weird, some stuff looked good, and other stuff looked like an N64 game. Overall I didn't like it, definitely not for $60.

I agree, to an extent. It's definately slow and repetitive, but I definately didn't mind one bit. The game isn't short if you actually slow down and look for all the hidden things and get all the achievements and whatnot. I agree about the graphics.. the environments were AMAZING, but the character models are pretty.. uh.. pretty messed up. I used store credit, so i'm kinda glad I didn't pay $60, but man I love this game.. too bad there's no multiplayer component, it would've been fun.

Ive been playing this game, its really fun, though 10-12 hours does seem kinda short, any more and i'd probably end up having a heart attack. Definately a great game to play in the dark with surround sound. If you look at the leaderboards for the game, you'll see there are people who have logged over 440 hours in the game. Which i find as extremely insane.

I liked it very much, It was just WAYY to liniear. I mean they told you every single thing to do. The only thing i got to choose was the end. It was a little on the short side too but if they did make it any longer it might have gotten stale. A very good launch title though.

I really like this game, the only letdown for me was the final level, it felt tacked on and wasn't nearly as atmospheric as the rest of the game.

spoiler:

personally I would have made the farm house the last level, not the farm, outside does not work for this game, IMO.
I beat it the other night. My favorite launch title.
Damn you for beating it before me, Brak. Here I was at like level 7 when you were just starting, and you beat it first.

At least I can say I got the Gold Melee Master Award. Playing through without firearms -- though they're limited anyway -- makes the game much harder and scarier. Being outside in the orchard, having to beat 5 fat dudes at once with just a torch, was no easy task.

It was also pretty scary. I whisper-swore a lot, playing at 2am alone. My wife -- who normally likes watching me play games -- would've hated it and had nightmares. Overall, a really good game. I'd give it a 8.7 out of 10.

Just finished the game, i thought the ending was pretty cool. Seems like it'd be good to make a sequel dealing with what they discussed in the ending. Not sure if they'd still have you playing as Thomas though.
