Confessions of a PSP pimp...

Back when the PSP was launching, I really searched hard for a reason to get one. I thought, maybe Darkstalkers will be competitive, but I asked around in the competitive community and get no confirmation.

I play predominantly only one kind of game. Turn Based (Not Active) Strategy RPGs. There is no question that myself and many, many others wouldve bought a PSP the day Makai Wars came out, but since it was killed, we still search for a reason.

Graphics, Multimedia applications, and the inherent sexiness of the unit itself do not interest me in the slightest.
I just had a 50 something year old lady frothing at the mouth when she saw my PSP. After I explained what the PSP is, all she had to say was, "That's smoother than sex!"

I shit you not!
I'm not sure whether I should think she's a cool old lady or a creepy one

And while I have talked up my PSP to people, I don't think I've influenced anyone as of yet, though I'm hoping EvilMrEgg builds up enough frenzy to buy one so we can hit up some mulitplayer :D .

Nippon Ichi is still bringing out a PSP game... it's called Generation of Chaos.

Well, upon further inspection, they are publishing one, but I gurantee they'll bring out one of their own full fledged SRPG's further on down the line.

I am aware of this. Strangely, I really dislike both pure strategy and real time strategy. Given that no development of a full, subsequent title has been announced, its going to be AT LEAST a year before a JAPANESE release. Perhaps they will use this first title to gauge consumer response.

Well, from what I remember, Makai Wars was only put on hold... there's a chance they could start it back up and finish it, maybe if Makai Kingdom does good (not sure if the two are related).

I've been reading here and there, and there was supposedly a lot of beef going on between Sony and NIS about even getting them a PSP dev kit. I'm not even sure that they even have one yet.

My take on the issue, that it is on hold in the same way that Duke Nukem Forever is on hold.

I'll buy a PSP when I can get it non-value (hah) pack, system only, and when there are more games I care about are put out. GTA: LCS will help in that department, since GTA III was a huge reason why I bought a PS2. It'll still take more then one game, maybe around Christmas.

in regards to to Generation of Chaos, NIS is not the developer. IMO, big difference.

I need a way to get Playstation RPGs on my PSP. This way I will have time to play them all the way through.

yes indeed. What maybe Sony doesnt realize, is that there is quite a crowd of sleepers whos 1 requirement that must be met before they buy a PSP is a NIS developed turn based strategy RPG.

Its called Killer-Ap people.

Off-Topic

I respect your opinion, but if you think my "mod note" was directed at the intelligent posts in this thread (or any others for that matter) then you have missed the whole point. I want flamers and thread crappers to know that we have a place for them. It's called the Vs. Mode forum.
Fair enough. Thanks.
Yes, I admit it. I am a PSP pimp. Every chance I get, I am pushing this product as the best thing since sliced bread.
Do you have some kind of grudge against the human race?

I don't even have a PSP yet. So far no PSP games have impressed me, and the price is more then I am willing to pay. Where is that article about Sony not planning to drop the price for the PSP in the future? I want to read it.

:(

When people say "it's all abou the game." They are bullsh*ting themselves. Graphic does matter. Imagining yourself playing ridge racer DS and someone came and sit next to you playing Ridge Racer on his PSP, with its Good GOD-like graphics (Compared to the DS that is)........ and you say you are not jealous? You are in the state of Denial my friend.

Here is how to sum up the graphics topic:

If you have the same game on both the DS and the PSP, and the game play and everything is just as smooth and just as fun on both system, THEN graphics come into play, since it will obviously give one the edge over the other. That is the only case where graphics matter to me though.

If you have two different games, and the game play on the DS is just outstanding and flat out fun, then have a game on the PSP where it's without a doubt visually beautiful, only with horrible game play and a boring game overall, then I have to go with game play.

I'd rather my games be fun, innovative, and awesome to control instead of just visually great to look at.

If I can have both at the same time however, then that makes everything that much better.

I will have my PSP sometime this coming week. I'll be able to post about this thred's topic soon enough. :)
