CONFIRMED: Pandemic Studios closing down. Ricci, you've got some 'splainin' to do!
No doubt. You can't put out several shit games in a row and expect to stick around. I think every person who worked for Pandemic was responsible for at least one glitch in Mercs 2. That would explain how so many got in the game.
LOL I can still remember playing that one mission where you had to defend the one church for a certain amount of time while tanks and enemy troops with RPG's were assaulting it.

The one time I tried the mission, the church was a smoldering pile of rubble, but the mission didn't end.

So yeah, even though they made the original Mercs, the second one was a total pos.

That was the mission that made me quit the game.

I was actually having fun up to that point. I was running around recruiting people, raising hell, driving fast motorcycles, etc. The graphics were that impressive but I was enjoying the wide variety of vehicles and that mohawked guy's silly quotes.

Then I had to help some random leftist guerillas defend a church from more tanks than participated in the Battle of Kursk and after about three lop-sided failures, I said, "fuck this".

Missions that require you to defend someone or something are almost universally terrible. They're only passable when there is an easy solution that allows one to quickly overcome the obstacle and get back to the fun bits of the game. There wasn't one in Mercs 2.

Oh well, I'll always have Mercs 1 and Battlefront 2.

I ended up using those cannons on either side to eventually finish that mission. Usually one or two hits would obliterate a tank. I used that tactic along with hijacking the incoming tanks and using them against each other to get past it.

But then I ended up sending my fat model PS3 for service to Sony and the game saves from Mercs 2 were locked to the HDD and I couldn't save those without doing a complete backup of the whole HDD, which I didn't have a large enough USB flash drive to do.

So, I ended up barely restarting the game before I got rid of my fat PS3 and got the slim, which I then started the game on again, only to end up not playing after I got past about 10% of it again.

It's a shame really, since I loved the original Mercenaries game enough to want to rebuy it for my Xbox after selling all of my last gen games to buy a PS3, but I can't even get through the sequel 100% without cringing at how glitchy it is.
