Connecting PC to HDTV

Eastsidecracker

CAGiversary!
I was wondering how to do this. My tv does have dvi, and I was thinking of vga to dvi cable, but someone said I should use component, then I could use it on other tvs that dont have dvi but have component. Anyone recommend a site thats cheap and reliable, and which cables to use?

VGA to Component:

Heard monoprice was good. On a components info, it say "Do not assume that this cable will work just because you have a VGA port (ie. you can't use this cable to connect your PC to a device that only accepts component video, since PCs do not output component video)." Need help deciding and wondering if this will work.

The VGA to Component cable will not work. It's basically made for projectors and some other specialized sources.

Look at your graphics card. If it has a round port that says "video out" you can probably order component cables for that.

That said, VGA is easier and probably better.

Hook it up using DVI... the computer should do everything automatically to make it work. You should go into display options and raise the rez to whatever the highest is.

Gaming using a PC hooked up to an HDTV is awesome.
