Cool, an ECW contest! :)

Does anyone know how the "Hardcore Homecoming" PPV that Shane Douglas is putting on, is going to be distributed on DVD? Are they just going to set up a website to purchase it from, or will it be available in stores?

Both cards are decent; each show has a great match that the other doesn't, such as HH having the triple threat main event, and ONS having the triple threat lucha match.

However, based on some news I read on ProWrestling.com today, I have less hope for the WWE produced event. Everyone backstage now seems to be dreading the event, and WWE didn't think that the event would do well, which is their excuse for adding the invasion angle.

Hopefully, we will all be surprised and WWE's show won't be like a traditional PPV and it will be awesome.

Either way, it's great to see ECW around in any form.

the real "wrastlin" is back...

Edit: Well with scorchs' post i guess i will add to it...i was born into early WWF and loved it and when ECW came around it totally changed my prospective on wrestling. Also I was truely sad to see all the greats sell out to the WWF but i always enjoyed watching this fantastic sporting spectacle. I even bought that ECW Hardcore cd awhile back. And of course I am a Sandman loyal follower...who couldnt love a guy who would wrap himself in barb wire and guzzle bear plus come out to the Enter Sandman was sic wit it.

Available right after the show, dunno if it's going to stores.

I've been SUPER hyped, but this "invasion" angle is really starting to piss me off. I also read a story on prowrestling.com that made me pissed off.. Vince is throwing his weight around with the invasion.. if the event's a success, he'll credit the invasion.. if it fails, he'll blame ECW.. and there's rumors that they don't even have the music licenses.. I dunno, dude.. if I have to hear Tommy Dreamer come out to a random generic entrance theme instead of Man in the Box.. or Sandman enter to anything except Enter Sandman.. it'd completely kill my interest.

That Sandman promo on www.wwe.com/shows/ecw features a generic theme.. I hope that's not a sign

//edit and people should have to post something remotely related to wrestling, none of that "post!" bullshit, no one-liners or anything like that.. i'd hate to have someone win this that entered with a "post 2 get free stuff to trade in at soem store!" line

I love ECW. Nothing will ever be able to replace it. I haven't watched wrestling in a long time, but I'm really looking forward to this PPV. Anybody have any stories about ECW events they went to?

From the sounds of it, it's not going to be televised. It's just going to be a house show-like event.

As for the ECW PPV, they should've kept all WWE superstars that were not in ECW at one time off of the show. That way it would truely be a real ECW PPV, all this is is Vince's way to milk some money off of the license.

I only went to one. It was a TV taping on 12/17/99 (taped for Christmas day), somewhere around there. I had a blast. Raven came out, RVD shook my hand, Chris Chetti (I think) pulled up Elektra's robe and stuck her ass right near my face (guardrail seats RULE).. I have a ton of pictures.. none scanned.. i'll work on that.. anyways, yeah, this fat blonde guy.. I can't remember who it was.. got irish whipped into the guard rail right by me and that guardrail flew back and smashed into my ribs.. it hurt like a bitch, but I was having too much fun to care. I was standing up (the whole show I was standing up, everyone was).. knocked me flat on my ass but I jumped back up.

It's the show where Masato Tanaka won the ECW belt from Mike Awesome and Justin Credible and Storm chained Raven up on the entrance way.

Out of nowhere Rhino hits
the spear on Sandman sending him though 2 tables that corino set up earlier.

The TNN exec let me take half of one of those tables after swearing not to ebay it.. still got it.. still got some newspaper advertisements of it, too.. here's one

I agree, the invasion angle is BS... I was really looking forward to a pure ECW show with no bullshit. With this invasion, it's hard to try and remember the 'glory days' because I'll be seeing WWE stars when all I want to see is old school ECW

That's fucking awesome. I envy you, the only wrestling event I've been to was a Smackdown right before Wrestlemania... sadly, there was a lot of WM hype so there seemed to be a lot less match time. I did get to see Brock Lesnar totally destroy Funaki in a dark match though, this was before he was 'The Next Big Thing'

I don't even like wrestling, but I liked ECW back in the day. I can't wait to get together with some of my old buddies and order this show..

I was at a show when Dreamer and Sandman beat up the Dudleys in the crowd about 1 foot away from me. It's a wonderfull thing when you can hand your chair to a wrestler so that they can smash somebody with it.

The announced matches have potential to be awesome!

Here's to hoping that wWE just lets the ECW guys do their thing and put on a kick-ass show. Originally it was supposedly Heyman and Dreamer booking the show, but now they say the writing has been somewhat 'WWE influenced' :(

For a while, didn't they have matches where you could bring weapons and the wrestlers would use them? I remember reading about people bringing carts loaded with random shit like stop signs and whatnot.. that would've been awesome to see.

I've been downloading ECW matches like crazy.. I just saw the Credible/Storm match where it was supposed to be a 3 way dance.. watched Sabu vs Spike Dudley last night.. I ordered the PPV where it was Bam Bam vs. Tazz and I think Tazz jumped on Bam Bam's back for the Tazmission and Bam Bam just jumped backwards on his back and they both crashed through the ring.. I missed so much of the earlier ECW shows..

I only got to see one ECW event, and it was inside of a gym at the local state college. But it was still awesome. Guardrail seats definitely rule. I took a ton of pictures, and got autographs of a couple of the wrestlers. Their was a short intermission where they had an autograph session with Tommy Dreamer, Francine, and Jerry Lynn. I got them to sign my ECW magazine (remember that?), and Jerry Lynn signed my ECW shirt which I still have and still wear proudly. The main event of the night was RVD v.s. Balls Mahoney. And after the match ended, and people started leaving the place, Balls Mahoney came out and signed autoghraphs which was pretty cool. And during the show, everyone looked back towards the entrance, and I looked back and saw that Chris Candido and Sunny had come out. They were just sitting there talking to fans, and I thought it was the weirdest thing. But I was definitely there to see Sabu. He stole the whole (F'N) show. I have no clue if he's going to be at One Night Stand, but I wish he could be.

What are the announced matches? And I heard the WWE was upset about the ticket sales. But the prices were outrageous, ranging from $100 to $400. I was really hoping that this PPV would be a tribute to how great ECW was, but I'm not so sure about that now.

Yea people used to bring misc items to the shows w/ them my personal favorite ever seen useed was a frying pan. Honestly get the rise and fall of ecw dvd its a great documentary and its got a lot of great oldschool ecw matches on it.

I went to the ppvs down here, and most of the house shows. I used to have Stevie's aim name a lonnnng time ago and would randomly im him sometimes. he seemed like a cool guy.

on a off note, does anyone find it wrong that Lita is on the "WWE" side of the angle? I mean she was in ECW for a year or so..
What was the Name of that wrestling faction that Mankind(Cactus Jack/Dude Love) belonged to?
..um.. WWF?

I'd rather Lita stay out of the storyline altogether.

No...He belonged to hardcore wrestling...in asia i think.

Nothing was like the last PPV they had in Asbury Park when there was pretty much a riot on the boardwalk because it was pouring and they weren't letting anyone in, even in the foyer of convention hall.
No...He belonged to hardcore wrestling...in asia i think.
Foley/Mankind/Dude Love/Cactus Jack.. all four were only in WWF/E. Everywhere else, he was only Cactus Jack.

Found some more information on the Hardcore Homecoming DVD Release:

DVD is a 2 disc set to be released 9/6.

Best part is, it will be in stores and most places like Amazon, Best Buy, and Circuit City have it listed for $15, with a MSRP of $20! $15 for 2 discs of pure ECW. :)

Yeah thats it...now if only i could remember what the name was hmm

Alright, honest to god, what are you trying to say? If you're trying to figure out which place he wrestled for in Asia under Cactus Jack.. I don't think there was any, I think he wrestled for Japan as Cactus. You mention the names, I say WWF. I offer no new suggestions and you say "yeah that's it".. what the hell.

Hopefully they can use people's ECW themes that they used to use as well. It would just be odd to hear people like Sandman or Dreamer coming out to generic music. I also agree that they should keep the invasion stuff out of there, what's wrong with having a pay per view of just good matches, the histroy of ECW should be enough to sell them. I am still very much looking forward to this ppv.

EDIT: The only stable I can think of that Mick Foley was really a part of was the Union (which was short lived) and cosisted of him, Test, Big Show, and Ken Shamrock. I'm not sure what other groups you're trying to get at. He used to wear a JOB Squad t-shirt under his dress shirt. He was aligned with Mr. McMahon for a while, but not as the Corporation.

I've been out of the wrestlin' loop for about a year now but it's very cool to see that ECW is back! I used to love ECW so much back in the day that once they went out of business I bought a lot of about 20 tapes of old PPV's. In my 10-15 years or so of watching wrestling ECW is definately my favorite time period. It's too bad a lot of the ECW greats never got a fair shake in WWF/WWE.

I been to a ECW event in Villa park, IL and it was the best wrestling event I have attended :) . Its good to see them try this again and hopefully we can see more ppv from ecw.

E-C-DUB! E-C-DUB!

I hope the Lance Storm/ Chris Jericho match is awesome. Those 2 can put on a show. But, Jericho has shown he can be a lazyass in the ring.

I don't think that this show will look like anything that we've previously seen from ECW. WWE writers are heading the show instead of the alumni that worked on ECW shows. I just feel that as a wrestling fan I don't just want a taste of a "one night only" reunion show I would love to see the resurrection of the brand. What I'm wondering is what if the show is a huge success...will that be it or will there be more?
Sounds interesting.
I bet it does. Post something more than a two word post, especially if it's a contest!

no doubt

also, Cactus worked for FMV, New Japan and All Japan over the years.

So many people succumb to the incentive of a contest.

This ought to apply to the true rasslin' board clique alone.

myke.

Where HASN'T Mick Foley worked?
I miss some old school ECW. Modern wrestling sucks although there is still a little hope for TNA.
Well, TNA is going to either WGN or Spike, with WGN being the more likely one. So, they could be some big time competition for the WWE.
