CONTEST (is over) Congratulations to Visc, and thanks everyone.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, guys. Even if you couldn't care less about any of the games or movies I'm giving away, think about all of the women in your life that are important to you, and then think about how important this charity could someday be to them. Mothers, sisters, girlfriends, wives, friends, aunts....whatever. It's scary to think how many women are diagnosed with breast cancer, especially when you stop and think about how many women you care about.

I started this contest because I want to help my friend reach a difficult goal, but the reason I'm being so persistent (some might say annoying) about bumping it over and over again is because I think the fight against breast cancer is so very important. Even if you don't donate to help my friend, I hope you think about supporting breast cancer research in any way you can.

Bumped for a great cause.

Manimal's friend is 25% to her goal. I KNOW CAGers could bring her to 50% by Valentines Day.

Here's a thought; instead of spending $20 on flowers that wilt the next day, or chocolates that make your girlfriend sick(you don't want her to associate that with you!!)donate to breast cancer research. Print out your donation in HER name, put it in a nice card, and write a cheesy note about how you care about her and wanted to protect her in the future. C'mon, she'll think you are the most creative, romantic guy ever!

I like what you're doing Danimal. I figure every, small or not, donation helps so I figured I'd pitch in. There has to be a few more CAG members that can give a little bit.

You get enough people giving even a small amount, after a while it really adds up to something big. Thank you very much for helping.

Eviltude convinced me to put some money up ;) - I'm going to have a $5 check in the mail at some point this week if I ever get my lazy ass motivated

That's great. Thanks, joevan. You can make the check out to "Avon Walk for Breast Cancer". Eviltude has my address, or I can give it to you myself if you pm me.

So CAGers, did you get something great for your sweetie for Valentine's day? Or are you desperate, only have a few hours until you see her and don't have any good ideas? See my post above, or if you're too lazy, here it is again.

Donate through the link on the first post, and you'll get a confirmation page from Avon. Fold it up, put it in a Valentine's day card, and either explain or write in a note that you love her(whoever she is)SOOO much and you want to spend many, many years with her, so you funded breast cancer research to protect her in the future. She will think you are so sweet!

While I can't GUARANTEE you will get some, you'll be helping a great cause, and most importantly to a CAG heart, have the opportunity to win free games!
Oh, I donated in my girlfriend's name (Lindsey Moore), because I'm sweet.
Now that's a guy who knows what's what on Valentine's Day. ;) Thanks very much RudyPants.
Finally enough space in the thread for me to make a bump of my own!
It doesnt count. You need to start your own page for it to be your own. Sorry!

Bump before I leave for work

Incidentally, we've got $145 in total CAG donations so far. If we can get another $55 donated by the CAG community, a $25 gift card to the store of the winner's choice gets added to the prize package, so at this point a donation could help a fellow CAG (along with my friend and breast cancer research in general) It's win-win. :D

bump because I'm back from the movies (finally saw King Kong)

There must be someone out there who feels like helping a good cause tonight

12 days left for this contest.

My friend Leigh has about $800 in donations so far ($736 showing on her Avon webpage and another $70 in checks), so she still needs $1000 more. Every little bit helps. I really appreciate all of the donations so far from CAGs, but I'd love to see some more.

Just got an e-mail from my friend, Leigh. She's hit the $1,000 mark in donations ($886 showing on her Avon page, the rest in checks) and she's starting to get excited about reaching the final goal. Thanks again to everyone here who has helped with this.

I'd love to send some more donations her way to help her keep pushing toward that final goal. There hasn't been a new donation in a while, but even if we can only get one or two more donations I'll feel like all these bumps were maybe worth it. You could win a bunch of games. I hope more of you will take a shot at them.
Question Danimal, if we make a donation through the link in the OP do we just PM you to let you know?
Yeah, you can do that, or even just post into this thread and say you donated. I check this thread a few times each day, and I'm keeping an eye out for any pms, so either way is fine.

I probably should be putting her link into some of my bumps, too, in case anyone skips the first page. Here it is again, in case anyone missed it in my OP:

http://walk.avonfoundation.org/site...1160&px=2221158

I should mention again that her Avon Foundation page only accepts donations of $10 or more. I wish I had known that when I first set up this contest. It still only takes $5 to enter the contest, but the donation would have to be made by check or money order made out to "Avon Walk for Breast Cancer" and sent to me, rather than directly through her page.
BUMP.

By the way, what will happen to the funds if she does not reach $1800?
Thanks for the free bump, Wolfpac_Ite. If she doesn't reach the $1800, whatever money she has raised still goes to the Avon Foundation to fight breast cancer. The money donated on her page goes straight to them, and is just credited toward her total amount, so it's not like she has a pile of money that she has to deliver to them at some point.

Well, it was either this or Shadow Hearts 3.

And, as much as I want to get that game, this seems much more important, don't you think?

Great cause; donated $20 to her Avon site-thingie. (Although I forgot to write in my name, is that ok?)

>( C'mon people, donate some more money! What would life be without soft and squishy breasts? Ok, an exaggeration, but still! Donate!

EDIT: So...wait. If she doesn't reach the $1800 mark, then she won't be able to walk??

Just contributed $20 to the cause by means of a check - the site wasn't loading properly.

I must say, as I mentioned to Danimal, this is truly one of the most sincere threads I've ever seen on CAG. My mother is a breast cancer survivor and I fully support breast cancer research in any way possible, from the smallest collections to the largest fundraisers. I've donated as much time and money as possible to foundations like Avon and Susan G. Komen for the express purpose of saving more lives.

I'm moved that CAG can help in our small way by making contributions to promote the walk for the cure. Please send a donation along to Danimal. $5 would help and certainly won't break your bank. It may even win you a few games. But even if it doesn't, it may help to save someone's life. It helped save my mother's.

I would like to salute Dori-dori, a brand new member to this site! If your actions here in this topic are representative of you as a person, you will be a great CAG! Welcome.

A Standing Ovation goes out to psiufoxx2 as well, with an equally generous donation! Great CAGs such as yourself are true inspirations.

Thanks to all the CAGs who have helped Manimal's friend, it makes me proud to be a part of this community!

Not a big deal if you didn't put your name on her scroll; I'll pm you to get your info and I can verify the donation with my friend easily enough. To answer your question, you're right- if she doesn't raise the $1800, she doesn't get to do the walk. There's not any question that she'll hit the $1800 goal, though. I have a few other ideas for raising funds for her if it gets close. She's over $1000 already, and I'm certain she'll make it with or without any further help from me, but I intend to help her as much as I possibly can.

I'm glad to hear your mother survived. It's nice to know there can be happy endings where breast cancer is concerned. It's good to know that money donated to research and treatment can make such a big difference in someone's life. Thank you very much for the donation.

Aiyah, thank you very much! I joined this site shortly after I found it yesteday (yay, cheap goodness!), and this contest was really inspiring~

=/ Geez, that sucks. But, since you're confident that she'll be able to walk, then there's no problem! Glad to hear she's over the $1000 mark as well!

Right now she's at just about $1100. Her Avon page is showing $906, and she has another $200 that she's given them in checks, but I guess it takes those a couple weeks to clear before they update her page with them. I'm going to be giving her another $80 this weekend that I've collected from some of my friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers, so she's going to be just a shade over $600 away from reaching her goal.

I'm hoping a bunch of CAGs will come out of the woodwork in the last few days of this contest (8 days left, counting today) and push her even closer.

Cheapy can you hear me!!

I know Danimal is too humble to ask, but could you post this contest on the front page?

The contest is for a noble cause, and honestly the window for donation has almost closed. One week of front page exposure might just push Danimal's friend over the $1800 mark.

Thanks to all who have donated.
