Gonna go with a big "meh" on this one.

Amazon has the 1 year of Live for $39.99 year round. So you're only saving $5 after you add the points card. But Amazon doesn't charge tax so the savings at Costco are negligible.

Plus, the Live cards seem to go on sale for $30 many times a year.

exactly. clever bundling, but do the math and the deal is weaksauce

All true, though some of us get a decent % back from Costco/Amex. Though the tax nearly negates it.

If I still had my Costco annual reward cert I would definitely use it on this.
You buy a year card for $30 and pay full price for a point card. Almost a deal if there were ECA codes.
Any advice on where to buy a card for $30? I missed out on the Dell deal a couple weeks ago and haven't seen anything new since.

No stores currently have them for $30, but my best advice to to wait until black friday. If you urgently need a card, though, try Target, Microcenter, or even Ebay.

If you have one nearby, Micro Center has 3 months for $8 making a year approximately $32.

This is a very good bundling deal, however, the deal is not worth it in my opinion.

Do they charge tax for these? Got some points cards from micro center and they didn't charge. Never bought the xbox live cards tho, so iono ;x

you can easily stack 4 of the 3 month cards ($7.99 each, even though they're priced $9.99) at micro center and have a full year for $32, so this "deal" is actually a few dollars more. also, MC has the xbl starter kits for $13 (which includes the 3 month card, a headset and 400 MS points), so you can stack that with 3 of the 3 month cards and got a full year with 400 ms points for $37. that's a pretty good deal, especially if you want an extra headset, in case you're either broke or is about to break. but thanks anyway OP...

OP mentions $8 Micro Center Deals just a few posts up-
But thanks anyway. . .

You may be right that they don't charge tax. I think I've seen it that way at some stores before (not all of them though).

What's with all the douchbaggery?

CAG isn't "best deal wins" it is a forum for all kinds of deals. Some are better than others but this is still better than retail.

The bad thing about "point combine" deals, people always overvalue the Microsoft points.

M$ must be really proud about the MS Points system

Not that one should say it in douchebaggery context, but it's nice to state if there is another deal that is better.
