We need more of this.

An American couple turned the tables on a burglar they caught ransacking their home by dispensing their own summary justice.

Without waiting for the law to arrive, the pair doled out their own punishment to the surprised criminal - they made him clean up the house at gunpoint!

The unlucky burglar was caught red-handed when Adrian and Tiffany McKinnon returned to their house near Montgomery, Alabama, after a week away.

To their dismay they discovered their home had been plundered.
“Tears just rolled down my face as I walked in and saw everything gone and piles of trash all over my home,” Mrs. McKinnon told her local newspaper the Montgomery Advertiser.

When her husband walked into another room to check what was missing he came face to face with the burglar, who was wearing one of Mr. McKinnon’s hats.

“My husband Adrian caught the thief red-handed in our home. And what is even crazier, the man even had my husband’s hat sitting right on his head,” Mrs. McKinnon said.

Mr. McKinnon held suspect Tajuan Bullock at gunpoint and made him sit down until he decided what to do.

“We made this man clean up all the mess he made, piles of stuff, he had thrown out of my drawers and cabinets onto the floor,” Mrs. McKinnon said.

When the police arrived the work-shy burglar had the cheek to complain to them - about having to clean up his mess at gunpoint.

“This man had the nerve to raise sand about us making him clean up the mess he made in my house,” said Mrs McKinnon.

But the police officer laughed at Bullock when he complained and told him that anybody else would have shot him dead.

Bullock was arrested on burglary and theft charges and was held in Montgomery County Detention Facility.

A police spokesman said the victims were lucky to be able to catch the suspect in the act and hold him until police arrived. It was an unusual case because usually burglars struck while the homeowner was away and were in and out fast so they could quickly sell the stolen items, the spokesman added.

Many burglars in this situation don't get away so lucky. I am not sure it was such a good idea, as after his hand slapping he'll get by our FUBAR judicial system he'll likely want revenge.

That's awesome. Guaranteed it wouldn't happen here, they'd probably call it forced work or something.

BTW prepare for the incoming "so it's ok to detain and kidnap people on your property now" comments.

Pretty funny. Though, the burglar will probably be able to sue the shit out of them for detaining him... and that's depressing. Honestly, it'd probably be more convenient for them if they'd just shot the dude, and that's a little fucked up.

I like how they qualify it with needing "reasonable" belief they intent to cause harm or do damage.

You're in my house and I didn't invite you. I'm reasonably sure you're gunna get your ass kicked.

that only happens when were talking about illegal immigrants. as long as they are us citizens then its ok.

Meh, it doesn't sound that bad. Of course he doesn't deserve to die for taking somebody's stuff, even if he did make a mess of the place, so it's good that they didn't just shoot him (plus if they did they would've had to clean up themselves...).

I'd be amazed if they didn't get charges pressed against them. It's just down right unamerican to not sue when detained while trespassing.

Hahahahhahaha!

On a more serious note... these counter arguments under "laws" are getting really rediculously retarded. You went into rob this families house, you are excluded from you rights at this point. And yes, they could have just killed you btw.

There should be a new law, if you knowingly violate certain laws, you lose all rights, some things should be automatic death.

Woah woah woah! Slow down buddy. Are you saying we should treat criminals like criminals? Are you kidding me? We're in America buddy. Everyone deserves rights. Unless you're raping a child and videotaping it to sell on the inernet. Outside of that it's your God given* right to do whatever you want whenever you want.

*God given rights only in America; God does not endorse other countries.

As much as I would love this, I imagine if we started punishing stupidity with death we would become underpopulated quite fast.

^doesn't bother me...

On that subject... Kalifornya's budget is non-existant yet they are "worried" about letting criminals out while the ones inside get better health care than law biding citizens.

A civil suit will be brought against the couple for enslavement and they will lose, especially if they are white and the burglar is black. Count on it.

You forgot emotional abuse and intimidation with a deadly weapon.

wasn't it darwin that had a theory about this?

1. Did the burglar have a gun? If so it would cancel out.

2. if he didn't he's an idiot and it wouldn't make a difference. Although in all seriousness if the burglar did and was one that didn't give a shit about human life that couple wouldn't have been able to do what they did.
