So the other poster seems to have taken out the information in his thread so I figured I'd start a new one...

Trade in 4 GBA games and pre-order Nintendogs for free at EBGames B&M. This deal has been confirmed by several of us here including me.

Here's the list of pre-owned excluded (POX) games thanks to vietgurl!

GBA POX
Bum (Butt Ugly Martians?)
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
Dragonball Z: Collectible Card Game
Ecks vs. Sever
Fortress
Fire Pro Wrestling
Iridion
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX
Ready 2 Rumble 2
WWF: Road to Wrestlemania

The trade in any 3 preowned games seems to be a huge YMMV because not many people have gotten it to work. There's a supposed Streetwise coupon that allows you to trade in any 3 games, no exceptions, to get the preorder but none of us has seen it yet. I'll keep this post updated with any incoming information from you guys.

The promotion code is #3901 if that helps anybody.

Edit: Just did the trade 4 deal... Promo #3929

I traded Dragonball GT Video, Cartoon Network Video, Xevious, and Rayman Advance and was able to preorder the Daschund version with no problems. They didn't take Iridion 3D though as was expected.

Edit 2: The coupon has finally appeared!

Thanks to darkcrawlspace

The coupon is good until September 5, but I don't think anybody here has tried using it yet. Go get 'em!

Edit 3: Link fixed. Also thanks to ahmedmalik and SanjuroTsubaki for their help.

Sad to say coupon didn't work for me. He just pulled up the regular deal and told me I needed 4 games. I said forget it...I'll get it at CompUSA for $25.

My wife decided to part with her copy of Bubble Bobble: Old and New for the GBA. We then went to Target and bought two copies of Classic Series: Donkey Kong for the GBA for only $6.98 each. When we took the three games to our local EB Games on Sunday, the employee there informed us that we needed 4 games in order to get Nintendogs for free. So, we ended up buying a GBA game there for only $5.99 and immediately traded it back in. On the receipt that I received from the trade in, it showed that I was given $7.50 for each of the four games thus receiving $30 towards Nintendogs.
After seeing the coupon in the first post of this thread, I decided that I would take in a printed version when I went to pick up my copy. When I went there to get the game this morning, I showed the coupon and the employee apologized for the mistake. I expected him to give me back $7.50 in credit. Instead he gave me back $21.50 in credit. I nearly crapped myself. For me Nintendogs was practically free.

Ah yes. My EB has the perfect example of a good manager: Eagle-eyed and uncompromising. And perhaps too much of an asshole to remember tact when dealing with suspicious things. I respect him, though.

The ASM didn't know about the coupon and showed it to the Manager. The Manager knew of the coupon and the street team. But when he saw my B&W centered printout of the coupon, he asked me if it was a photocopy and where I got it. I claimed it was a poor-quality PDF. He said he was told the coupons were being handed out by the street team and to watch out for copies, then instructing the ASM/clerk helping me to call the DM. After he got off the phone, he told me there were two strikes. One, that the coupon said "preorder," and two, that it shouldn't be a printout. I ended it with polite conversation about their current deal and made sure not to seem like I wanted to cause a ruckus.

I wonder if I should try this at another store. Maybe scope out the place and find an empty store with someone too young to be a manager (though they sure are young these days).

Or I can just try to find one more cheapo game. (I bought three for $18.18 at GameStop.) They only had two Lab editions that weren't preordered, but they said more of the other two should arrive either late tomorrow or Thursday.

I wouldn't buy another preowned game if they don't accept 3. You will end up paying around $23 total for the dogs. You'd be better off going to Best Buy and using the summer catalog $5 coupon. I think you'd get a $5 gift card too, but I'm not sure.

I went in yesterday and even with 4 GBA games, I couldn't pre-order a copy. I had a rookie employee who was slammed and the only one there. I didn't want to be a pain in the butt, and he said to come back when they had it.

Heh, I would be better off going to Best Buy. I don't think I see anymore of the summer catalogs anywhere for me to get the coupon, but I have a GGC (no others instore, unfortunately) and a $5 RZ certificate, plus I'd be getting points. Actually, what I'd rather do than use the precious GGC is to PM to CompUSA's $25 price (though it only lists Chihuahua and Lab versions, and I want the Daschund). The thing is, I'd rather save my GGC and RZ certificate for something I know I couldn't save any money on any other way.

Anyway, after class, I'm going to go to another GameStop...err, PlanetX. I got a $4.99 and a $5.99 game from my first shopping trip. If I can find two more like that, I'll return the $7.99 one I got from the first store. If not, I'll just go the BestBuy route. (I'm also secretly hoping there'll be more lunchbags/screen cleaners with tomorrow's EB shipment. I probably should have asked while I was there.)

I just used the coupon TODAY...
I took in 3 GBA games and the coupon. There was another CAG already trying to use the coupon when I got there. The sales assoc. was on the phone with the manager and then told the person that they couldn't use the coupon because it said"pre-order". The assoc. that was helping me told him I had the same coupon, so he started to tell me the same thing. I point out that the date on the coupon says that it is good till Sep. 5 and that it is an EBGames coupon. He tells me that he can only do what his manager tells him. I ask for the # to the district manager since they are refusing an EBGames coupon that has not expired. He looks in the computer for a min then calls his manager back. He fills him in on whats going on and lets him know that I want the # of the DM. I guess the manager had a quick change of heart because I was instantly told that they would do it and they were sorry for the mix up. I didn't even have to pay the tax as others in this thread did... hell I got a card with .56 credit on it plus Nintendogs :)
I was surprised to get credit and not pay the tax but it was ok with me.

I wasn't sure if the coupon would work but I figured I would try it since the worst they could say was no. Even though I was told that, I just didn't think it was right with the expiration date being Sep 5th. So I figured I would ask for the DMs # just to see what would happen and well it worked out great, I really doubt I would have called the DM over this though. But I was nice to the sales assoc ( I didn't yell at them) I just explained to them what was on the coupon and then asked if I could please have the # of the DM since the store manager had turned away the coupon. I don't know why the sales assoc. called the store manager back instead of giving me the DMs # but oh well... it worked ou for me.
if you use the coupon, ANY game will work, even POX and GBA Videos.
Nope. You can't read it on the coupon when it's printed out, but when you click on the link for it the first line says that some titles are excluded from the promotion. I just went in to one of the two EBs that are like half a mile apart (they're across the street from each other; one's in a strip mall the other is in a regular one), and I tried trading in SI Kids Football, No Rules Get Phat, and Chu Chu Rocket. No dice for any of them. Of course, I did manage to catch one of the oldest employees there. I think he's managed both stores at some point, so I just got unlucky. I'm going to try the other EB and hope I can get a dumb/cool employee to okay the games for me.

Kinda funny . . . I arrived at EB and one of the clerks who I've gotten to know immediately said . . . "you didn't want those Nintendogs games did you? I mean you always cancel preorders anyway."

Ahhh! . . . for now, my Dach has been given to someone else. I did get a Lab but will likely return it later. I have to head to another store tomorrow, where hopefully my Dach is still being held.

I laughed with the clerk and said that's what I get for being such a bastard and he said "you gotta tell me these things."

Then I tried the coupon to try to finally get rid of my 2 POX games and it wouldn't go through. But I think he felt bad enough about the preorder. So, he pushed it through . . . but I just got another Lab to return for credit later.

I also managed to get the last preorder bonus kit.

I went in to EBGames this morning to pick my preorders up (Nintendogs: Chihuahua and Friends and Advance Wars: Dual Strike). There was a new guy working and I think he was the only one working at that time. There were about 2 or 3 people ahead of me so it was taking some time to get through them. As I was waiting in line, 4 obnoxious punk rock kids that looked and smelled like they hadn't taken a shower in like 3 days came into the store. One of them immiedietly ran straight for the Nintendo DS which had Nintendogs in it and shouted, "OH MY GOD, NINTENDOGS!! OH OK YOU WANT ME TO KNOCK?! OK, KNOCK KNOCK!!! (as he was hitting the screen with the stylus as hard as he could)". It was finally my turn in line and I got my games in no time. I was surprised there was no hassle what so ever. EBGames gets 2 thumbs way up! Gamestop gets 2 thrumbs straight down!

There was also a guy in my local EBGames that is ALWAYS there. When I say ALWAYS, I MEAN ALWAYS. He looks like he's in his mid-early 20's and has curley/poofy brown hair. He has a lot of facial hair and he wears glasses. He is constantly playing the demo games and gets mad when he loses sometimes. You can tell he has a bit of mental retardation. The employees in there treat him like a fellow employee because hes in there so much. They give him free T-shirts and everything it seems like.

Does anyone else here on CAG have anybody like that in their local game stores?

Gamestop>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>EB Games

Yep - but it's just a really fat hairy guy who walks around looking at things. He doesn't talk to anyone - not even the employees - just walks around, sometimes leans waaaay over the counter, then turns back around and goes to a demo or something.

I tried the coupon (black & white printout since I only have a b&w laser printer right now) today at a fairly new store. The sales assoc was on the phone with someone when I got there; I think she was talking to her manager.

She took a look at my coupon and got back on the phone and read it out loud to whoever was on the other end. She also gave me the preorder excuse and I didn't think she would have accepted my coupon either because she said on the phone, "it looks like a photocopy." They didn't have the Dachshund version, so I just took my games, coupon, and left with no free Nintendogs.

I already have the import Shiba version that I haven't played in a few months, so I'm fine with not getting it free.

I've seen a few odd otakus (the negaqtive sense of the word) at the one I go to.
Last winter, I was picking up a game and all of a sudden, in the middle of the transaction, this short fat kid runs in the store, all out of breath with foggy glasses. He's behind me, practically breathing down my neck and screams in this high pitched voice at the cashier: "HEY IS NINJA GAIDEN HERE YET???!!!" I turn around and yell just as loud at him "NO, IT'S DELAYED FOREVER!!!!" He gives me a bewildered look, then looks at the cashier who just said "yep" and ran right back out.
Hot damn, this game must be selling a lot better than I thought it would...
The guy I talked to at my EB said they had only 2 copies of nintendogs for sale. All the rest they had were for preorders. Well I got my dach and immeaditily returned it back in to get advance wars for around $3 extra. Some lady trying to inquire and trade in games for nintendogs snatched up my dach as I returned it in and bought it.
visited 2 EBs and both are OOS. :(
Same here. I am one sad puppy. :(

I hope they aren't going to give me the excuse that it only works on preorders... the coupon clearly states that it's good until September 5, 2005.

I went in there today, asked if they were still doing the deal, and the employee said yes. The GBA games I gave him were fine (not on the POX list), but after trying the deal on the computer, the employee said the offer had only applied to preorders. Bought the game anyway, but phooey. :whistle2:/

(Btw, I hadn't checked this thread in awhile, so I didn't know about the coupon...)
Hey, are you guys paying tax on these? I just traded in two worthless games and Lady Sia, which I got for 4.99, and the girl at EB, though busty and rather hot, told me through broken logic that I needed to pay 2.31 tax. I'm not THAT stingy, to get a new first party DS game for 7-8 bucks and complain, but I'm wondering if the girl didn't know what she was talking about.

Thanks.
Yes I had to pay the tax on it (somewhere in that range of $2-2.40 don't remember). Didn't bother me at all.

Oh and I order/preorder another copy and switched the one I got today to a Daschund (sp) since some kid really want the lab and all they had was a Daschund (Sp).

The guy also let me order one using this deal and let me switch it over to Advance Wars: Dual Strike. Woo!!! I think I'll do it again and switch it to Sigma Star Saga this time.

Okay, I used the coupon with Donkey Kong, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secretes, and Simpsons Road Rage(courtsey of a friend who gave them to me). All were accepted, as well as the coupon and I got the last copy of Nintendogs. Lab and Friends, I wanted Dasch, but I'll take what I got due to it being the last copy, and on my part it was free. Game rocks by the way.

I was going to pick this up today, but I had class and I couldn't get there before they closed, so i'll be picking up my free one tommorow :)

I just wanted to say again (probably the twentieth time by now) how awesome of a deal this is and that we really should give this thread some 5 cheapy heads.

I am out of town and have been trying to call my EB to make sure they hold my Dach. and preorder bonus till I can get in there on Thursday. I called a few times between 6 and 9 pm Monday, and several times all day today. THEY HAVEN'T ANSWERED THEIR PHONE ONCE!!! I double-checked the number at EB.com and called a nearby store to verify the phone number (and ask if the original store suddenly closed or something). I have no idea what's going on. They also haven't called my home phone to let me know the game is in. EB SUCKS, in my experience :D.

I just called another nearby store and they are going to call for me and check on my preorder. Very wierd. I have no problem calling anywhere else back home with my cell (e.g., I just called an EB 1/2 mile from the mall store no problem). If he gets through I don't know what to think about that...

An update:

I went in to the EB today, and their phones are STILL out. However, they had my Dach. and 1 and exactly 1 Nintendogs bag left. So, I take it back, EB doesn't suck :D.
Maybe that EB has a bunch of lazy @$$'s working, like the lazy bastard at my store.
Dude at the nearby EB couldn't get through to them either. Maybe their phones are out (though it has been over a day now). Guess I'll find out when I go in on Thursday.

Holding the preorder bonus will likely be tough . . . even your game with the way that they are selling them.

I think I stretched this deal to the limit . . . preordered 5 and did the direct tradein for 1 more today. 4 done at the 3 GBAs per for and 2 at 4 GBAs . . . so 20 games total for $180 in credit (actually 1 Ndogs and $150 in credit). 18 of the games were purchased at EB or EB.com. 1 Iridion for $3 at GS and Castlevania classic for $3 at Target. Of the 18 from EB, I'd say the average price was about $4.50 . . . but because they were purchased with credit from past deals the out of pocket is more like $2 per game.

So, $80 in EB credit plus $6 became $180 in EB credit.

Thanks a lot for all the people who found out about this. Got a copy of Chihuahu today for around 18 bucks in used games (3 of them didn't even need the coupon) and my girlfriend is inside screaming SIT at her new husky.

Thinking about doing it again.... how exactly does it work, trading the game back in? Do you need the receipt- and wouldn't it show that you didn't pay anything for it if you did?

For me its win/win if they don't hold my dachsund...if its there, great, I got the rarest of the three and just need to wait till I get a DS to play it...

If they gave it away, I will argue my way into getting the credit changed to something else...I will be hissy and furious since it was paid for in full via the preorder and a copy should have been held. I know I can argue it easily in that situation.

One way or another, win/win.

When are they going to frickin come out with black DSes stateside though, damnit.

Good luck getting you preorder bonus... The store I preordered it at (Store #1) only got 2 bags in total (but had 8 preorders), and they had already given them both away by the time I picked mine up this afternoon. So the guy at Store #1 called another guy at Store #2 and it only had 3, which were also already gone. After calling the last nearby store, the manager of Store #3 had a fucking cow over giving his last one to a customer that didin't preorder it at his store, but in the end, he did allow me to take it home, that is, after I bought $20 of stuff in his store.

Hmmm... Maybe I can use this to help cancel my Nascar preorder there. I want to pick up my Ndogs and cancel Nascar. If they don't hold the preorder bonus for me (I talked to the manager when I found out about my trip and he said they would hold it for me, but that was a few weeks ago), and especially if they don't hold the game, I'll say what's the point in preordering and say I want to cancel my other preorder (Nascar) since I might be out of town again when that comes out. I'll take not getting the bag if I can get $50 back from the Nascar preorder :D.

I did this preorder promotion when I first heard about it in this thread, but was only able to do the 4 trade-ins as opposed to the 3 trade-ins.

When I went to pick it up today, I asked if they had the preorder Doggy Bag thingie and they said they didn't and they didn't get any at all. I put on a show like I was extremely dissapointed and said, "Well, is it ok if I switch the credit to Advance Wars?" They said it would be no problem, as long as I would pay $5 extra ($34.99).

I then printed out the coupon that was posted on here and went to get Nintendogs w/ 3 retro GBA games that were collecting dust. So all in all, I spent $5 out of pocket for both games.

Thanks to the person who posted the scans. :)

I got to my EB about 10 minutes before close, and I amazingly got the pre-order bonus. In all honesty, I didn't expect to get one, nor would I have complained if I hadn't. But still, it was a pleasant surprise.

The EB guy said people were waiting outside the store when they opened today to picked up their copies. Problem is, the shipment didn't arrive until 11:30am. I guess some customers were pretty pissed. They only got enough copies to cover pre-orders and two extras, which sold out immediately.
whats the rarest of all three?
They were all produced in equal numbers but the daschund version seems to be the most popular one so it tends to be more difficult to find.

Returning a game you got through a tradein deal is definitely YMMV . . . you won't know until you try. ALWAYS wait a day before doing a return. First off, you don't want to piss off the clerks. Secondly, the district manager may notice the two receipts in sequence and see your scam . . . and then change the local policy!

You definitely need a receipt to do a return . . . cancelling a preorder you don't need it . . . that works off your phone number.

The receipt I got for my pickup shows that I had a "Presell Order Deposit: XXXX 29.99 (XXXX being a number). If I return it, I don't know if EB tracks the payment linked to that number . . .

In that case, the pickup receipt itself doesn't reveal how I got the store credit.

If you do a trade in with the game instock, the receipt will show the games you traded in and their values (possibly original value and bumpup value). Where some people have run into problems in the past is with a clerk only offering them the original values back. One way around this is to ask for a gift receipt as they are ringing up the trans.

In the Ndogs case, on the 3 for deal my receipts only show the $10.00 per game . . . I don't know how they could refuse an exchange for credit or another game with that receipt.

But with the PSP game deal in March, some people got refused even with the gift receipt. But that deal was heavily exploited. This is very YMMV. My store has never hassled me in anyway about returns. But I think I'm one of a few (or only cust) to exploit these deals at my store. If a bunch of folks were doing it that might change things.

I'm better off returning a game than cancelling a preorder. If I cancel a preorder I get the money back on my Edge card and can spend it tax free instore. If I return a game, I get the money back on my online capable gift card and they also refund the tax I never paid! So, on a Nascar return, I will get $52.xx to use online . . . and I do more purchases online then instore.

I'm glad most people have been able to get this deal to work. I picked up my dasch yesterday but sadly, all the bonuses were gone. I think my Lab will be ready today so maybe the other EB will have some bonuses left.

Thanks for all that....very good to know. The EB guys at one store in my area (there's like 6...which makes this deal very easy) are very cool, didn't even need to see my coupon to take 3 games. I'll see if I can work this out.

Oh, and all the versions except the Chihuahua one were sold out around here. That was cool though, cause that was the one my girl wanted (wanted a yorkie). The game's pretty cute, but don't see myself getting into it.... now, Advance Wars on the other hand....

Where did the physical coupons come from? Did Streetwise mail them to you?

my girlfriend picked up my copy as i am overseas at the moment, and she said the local eb did the preorder bonus based on date of preorder. i guess i got lucky and made it in early enough to score one. definately ymmv on that policy.

also gave this 5 heads and good job to the scanner of the coupon!

Didn't mention this yesterday but I picked up the four copies I had on reserve. I got 1 lunchbox - all they had left. Anyway - two of those copies are going to my cousins - 1 for myself, and the other 1 I was hoping to turn into Advance Wars =\

F*ck... my brother won't be there today so I probably won't get any of the preorder goodies. It sucks not being able to have a car for the first year in college.:whistle2:x

All the versions are sold out here, i didnt check other stores but ebgames only got enough nintendogs for the preorders they had, which was probably like 5 preorders. I picked up my nintendogs lab version no problem and i didnt even have to pay tax (i did the trade in 4 games for nintendogs). They were doing the lunchbag based on who preordered first, they probably only got 3-4 lunchbags, of course i got the lunchbag. I think this is because nintendo only ships enough lunchbags for the people that preorder so if you preorder late then you lose out on the bonus since they wont have time to ship your lunchbag. It wouldnt make sense for ebgames to have a bunch of lunchbags lying around extra beyond the amount of preorders that they have taken. Most of the pre-order bonuses for games just end up lying around the store anyways.

Btw, the lunchbag is really nice, it looks just like something you would buy in walmart for 10$, its not a piece of junk lunchbag. The screen cleaner is really cute too, it goes on the thumbstrap part of the DS.
