Crackdown $14.99 new at BN.com

Is this fun? I love the concept-sort of RPG-y super hero open world game, but I couldn't figure out if I liked it from the brief time I spent with the demo.

I know it seemed bizarrely under-hyped by the community (at least in theory, I was FAR more interested in this than Halo 3, and a lot of people were just getting it for the demo or whatever).

Shipping isn't terrible, $1.99 per order, plus $.99 per game/software/accessory, but if you don't mind getting it used, might be worth getting it from GameStop (B&M) using their current b2g1 coupon. BTW, it is $12.99 used at GameStop, and most locations should have enough copies to enable picking out a complete one in excellent condition.

I picked it up because it had good reviews and was cheap awhile back. First hour or so I thought it was ok. Once I got my agility up, this game was so damn addictive even my wife played, and she hates these types of games.

It's even fun to watch someone else play this game. It's friggin awesome.

I just loved the descriptions of single handedly taking on a big gang or something. And I love that for once you play the good guy. I love how that main character looks too, and how the vehicles apparently evolve with you too.

Hopefully I'll like it, but at any rate, $20 isn't too bad.

Really, more games should feature jumping REALLY f'ing high. Its fun. GTA and stuff are great, but being able to just bound around everywhere really changes the entire experience. The actual agency vehicles are the ones that evolve as you level up. It's pretty cool. They always look the same when unoccupied, but when you get in, they transform a bit and have additional abilities.

My buddy was a last-gen guy for the longest time, had been leaning toward buying a 360, but ended up getting a PS3. The biggest thing I regret about his decision is that we couldn't play Crackdown co-op together.

Dang, that sounds fun! Does it support split screen? I can't justify paying for online as I don't like it really, but that does sound fun...

If you dont have this game yet, thats a great price and you wont be disappointed other than the fact you eventually figure out its short.

brilliant ill give this a try at that price dont really have alot to lose

I will admit I bought this game just for the Halo 3 beta, went back to play Crackdown a few months later, and DAMN it was fun! I enjoyed it more then Halo 3....

Unfortunately not. But its still a damn good time by yourself.

Side note. I can't frickin' believe that the for-pay DLC for Crackdown has still not had any sort of price drop.

On the other hand, make sure to snag the free DLC for sure.

like everyone is saying, this is an awesome game and it is a steal at this price.

but for the ppl who played it, is the dlc worth the price??? it is kinda pricey even tho this game has been out forever and the dlc has seen no price drop :(

awesome! finally this thing is cheaper than 30 bucks! been waiting forever for it to hit 20 bucks. thanks for the find, i didn't think BN sold games.

hmmm is this new or used because it's being shipped from gamestop.

it says "buy it new" this better be new then.

I would play through the game first and see how much you like it. For me, the dlc was well worth it. Then again, I played through the game a half dozen times, loved hunting for orbs, and had a great time just moving around Pacific City from place to place. Bring a buddy in for some coop and it's even more enjoyable.

Crackdown is still my favorite game of this gen, and $15 is a steal if you can overlook some minor faults and get into that whole "emergent gameplay" thing. ;)

Yea, split screen would have made Crackdown a perfect 10 for me. My bro doesn't have a 360 and handing off the controller SUCKED because we both wanted to play all the damn time.

And the second the DLC drops in price, I'm all over it again.

Hmm, I really want to get Crackdown, but I don't want the Platinum Hits version. If you ordered the game from BN.com, please post which version you received...

if anyone is interested in co-op... im still on the first island have to still beat a few of them... i haven't played that much of it yet
I wish Amazon would price match this. The shipping and taxes on it put a damper on the deal for me.
it still ended up being 10 bucks cheaper for me then anywhere else that sells it.

Hey guys,

I ordered the game and got it today and it turns out the game I received is USED. So who should I complain to? Barnes and Noble or Gamestop? On Barnes and Noble site it says "BUY IT NEW". Anyway, I should have guessed it would be used but I still feel ripped off somehow. Any advice?

Update: I called Barnes and Noble. They directed me to GameStop. I called GameStop and they said that the Barnes and Noble website is wrong and the game is only sold as used. I was then told if I return the game to a GameStop store, I wouldn't get the shipping back. I guess the only reason I'm so angry is that I could have spent like two dollars more on Amazon and gotten a brand new one. Anyway, sorry for the complaining. Enjoy the game, suckas.

Crap! Mine had better not be used. Can you return it somewhere? (Where? Barnes and Noble? Gamestop? Mail it back?) After all that effort, mine had better not be used!

I would call, bitch and return it. In the past, I did that to GS multiple times. Now, I hardly ever order from there.

That completely sucks. They said NOTHING about it being used, and it even explicitly says new on the search results page (I've printed them...). I'll wait for it to get here, and then see what I can do...

Where are we even supposed to return it to? How do we get shipping back?

I just replied to one of my initial emails I got from Barnes & Noble and CCed the Gamestop address they said to use. My message was:
I ordered Crackdown for the Xbox 360 last week, and just received a USED copy of the game. I did not order a used copy, and nowhere on the product's description did it say the copy was used. In fact I just double checked, and it explicitly says it's new on the search results page.

I want to know what I need to do to get a refund, hopefully including the shipping cost, since I did not get what I ordered.

Thanks!

If this doesn't get resolved, including a full refund for my shipping cost, I'm going to submit a 1 star review for Barnes & Noble on Resseller Ratings, and report them to the BBB. Not that that will help me, but obviously I'd NEVER order from Barnes & Noble before.

And to the person who said you should have known it was used...why? It didn't say it was used, and as far as I know you legally have to. Certainly no one would be expected to know that. It even explicitly says it's new on one of the screens.

Not a bad price even if it's used.

You can use BN gift cards on video game orders right? Can you also pay with a paypal account? I have a gift card a friend gave me for BN and I have some credit in my paypal account from Live cashback. Would be cool to use both towards a game.

Here's my email i sent them - bought game online through barnes and noble - NEW- Crackdown for xbox 360 and you f*cking send me a USED COPY!!!!!! This is unacceptable!!!!!!! I want a new copy of game sent to me using next day shipping at your expense!!!! and i am not paying to return used copy u wrongly sent me!!!!!! U pay!!!!! I am so fed up with this crap!!!! if this is not fixed i report to the better business for false advertising!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me you are joking.

yea got my copy today used, this is bullshit. i just called my local gamestop they said to bring down the packing stuff with the game to see what they can do. hopefully they can refund me, maybe not including shipping but im not gonna keep a used game when i ordered new.

now they have freakin' crackdown on the list, i would have gotten that with mass effect if they were both on at the same time. *sigh* there's nothing else that i want on that list, i guess ill wait longer.

All right, I ordered Crackdown (again) and Dead Rising from Wal Mart :/

We'll see what Barnes & Noble and/or Gamestop does. I'd sure as hell better be able to at least return it minus shipping-but if they don't refund shipping too, I'm reporting them (and obviously could go through my credit card too). Really pathetic if they don't immediately fix this for everyone who ordered.
