Crazy Japanese kid plays arcade

Seen it before. Damn near impossible too without memorizing every little note that drops down. Bets on how long he studied it before pulling that off?

Yeah. I remember toward the end he got pretty close to the top and made an impressive save. Too bad the video cut off instead of watching him finish. He was at, what, level 80 or something?

I hate when people say that people memorize everything in this game. I play, not at such a high skill level, but I have friends that do. We don't memorize. People ask me that all the time when I play DDR, it's just so frustrating. You get used to the patterns, but rarely do you memorize them.

i dont know what game that is.
Pop'n Music (not sure which version, but I'm guessing around 8 or 9, based on how long this video has been around). Not to diminish the skill of the player, but high-speed mode can actually make songs *easier* to do with practice, since you're not being overloaded with 30-40 notes onscreen at once. (The timing on hitting the notes doesn't change between normal and high-speed modes; they just scroll at you faster)

Pop N Music is probably the most difficult game I own. I have had the game for 2 years and I still am having trouble with the medium difficulty songs on 9 panel mode. It's an awesome game though.

I just wish there were more arcade machines in the US. I think there are only around 6 or 7 in all of North America.

I remember seeing that for the first time and wondering how good at the piano this guy might be if he actually spent all that time playing it instead of memorizing the sequence of a fake piano.

I like the vid of the guy parrying Chun-Li's entire Super Art, then following up with a Shin Shoryuken to win the Evo SF3 tournament.
Um, "Jap" is an offensive racial slur much like "slope" or "spic".

I would kindly ask that you not use it.
Agreed. But just wait for all the idiots arguing that it is a legit abbreviation and it wasn't said in a racist manner.

Then he'd go totally samurai on your ass.

Being Japanese and all...

...'cause he's Japanese...

...and in Feudal Japan, there were samurais...

...so being...and...well...eh....

Crap - that's insane. I'd hate to play the "Hand Slapping" game with that person. Might as well give him my lunch money before we even start. :(

BTW, I love that game. Played it all the time when I was in Hong Kong this summer.

Pop 'n Music! You actually don't need to memorize every song; I can play this, IIDX, and DDR on high skill levels because I've practiced like hell, haha.

DAMN, that's guy's good!

I can't say for sure which version of Pop n' Music that is, but I do know it's the same as the machine that's been in the Wired at Sakura Con the last 2 years. (Same cabinet art.)

That hardest part I have with that game, is just trying to learn the controls. I keep forgetting which buttons are top row, which are bottom... not good when you need to go fast. (Plus, I seem to remember the Sakura Con machine not having the control button color match the screen prompt colors, but I'm not sure.)

My problem is hitting the wrong button in the right row. I always seem to hit a button that is either to the left or right of the button I need to actually hit. I think it's because I am constantly switching from 5 button to 9 button mode (I need to play 5 button to clear the objectives so I can spin the spinner in the board game in Pop N 8 to get the unlocks since there is no way I can get no misses on a 9 button song or usually get 80,000+ on a 9 button song unless it's an easy one)
