Crazy XBOX 360 Rumors - If true, HOLY. SHIT.

Had to.

MS has trouble getting their own Xbox games to run on the dam 360. They would have to hire some smarter ppl to get DC games going well on it. lol

Lets not forget that the 1st XBL game ever was a Dreamcast port. (Never released AFAIK though)

They may have a way of converting DC to XB coding?

Plus, aren't both the Dreamcast and the 360 running a modified version of windows?

Except that the console in question is the 360. Needless to say, it's a lot more complicated to code for, and it's completely new hardware/software. Like I said before, they can't even get Xbox games to work correctly. Maybe if they fix that first, I'll give this rumor a little bit less doubt.

[Edit]
So, I decided to actually read the source link, and I'm surprised. This isn't a source at all. Just someone who found an old roomate who supposedly works at Microsoft now? How could one guy, (probably still a peon, if he's only worked there for 3 years) know just how the hell Bungie will release Halo 3?

Microsoft Game's division employees would never get access to this information. Not to mention that they are seperate companies.

To me, that alone discredits the original source. Toss up another bullshit response.

I like the idea of a virtual console but being that a dreamcast costs about $15 and the games can be downloaded and burned for free doesn't make this all that appealing. Some 2 or 4 player action would be cool but once you get past the fighters on the DC there isn't much left.

is it so much they can't get them to work, are haven't had the time. I would imagine a lot of resources went to getting the right console, and make as many as possible, getting launch games ready, and getting xbox live arcade going. I would imagine the resources and manpower devouted to b/c for xbox games was small. That and the fact after they write the code, they have to extensively playtest it. They have stated there would be another major update to b/c list of games in march, as they had given the workstaff off time around the holidays. Since Sega won't be b/c but more along the lines of xbox live arcade, sega would probably be in charge of making the games work, rather then internal msft studio's. Granted Sega would be getting help from the arcade team, but what it comes down to is about 2 games a month for 2 years. Is it possible, yes, is it going to to happen who knows.

Dreamcast uses Windows CE.

I hope this rumor is true, I would love to have Marvel cs Capcom 2 with Live support.

Boooo!!!! There are tons of great games for the DC that aren't fighters... I really liked Soul Reaver, Shadowman, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5, Jet Grind Radio, Rayman 2, Skies of Arcadia and a bunch of others I can't think of right now... the Dreamcast ruled!

wont happen as EA owns the Marvel License right now. Also only a handful of Dreamcast is coded using Windows CE (Sega Ralley is one of them), and the X60 is more like a Power PC.

Sorry...its just that I didn't get a dreamcast until very very very late in the game. Basically when it went to $15. Most of the games you mentioned were available to me on other systems.
I don't really care what anyone says, the Dreamcast is pretty much worthless.
U r crazy...the Dreamcast is the best system ever made imo...the amount of quality software that came out in 99-2000 has been unmatched since.

Now you're just letting yourself get blinded by nostalgia.
I believe the part about WoW coming to the 360, but an exclusive expansion for it before there is a PC version of it? I highly doubt it. Plus we don't even know if there is going to be another expansion for it after the Burning Crusade.
Blizzard has said they aren't porting WoW, they have their hands full with the PC one at the moment and have no intention of porting it anywhere.

And Blizzard is not stupid, they would NEVER release an expansion exclusively for Xbox 360, and alienate their 80 bajillion subscribers on the PC.

I thought the rumor said they would release the expansion a month before the PC version launched, not a specific 360 exclusive.

That wouldn't happen either... Blizzard does not want the backlash that would come from the millions of extremely hardcore PC fans that World of Warcraft has gained, and Blizzard knows this.

The PC market is their bread and butter, and they wouldn't shut that out just to grab a few Xbox 360 sales. In December 2005, World of Warcraft had FIVE MILLION subscirbers globally... Blizzard wouldn't screw them over, no matter what.

It is of my opinion that the only reason FFXI is coming is because Square is hard up for customers, and they can really rack them in on the 360 since it will be the first MMORPG.

Game Informer did an interview with a Blizzard higher up a few months back, and they asked him about WoW on other consoles. His response that "While it would be great for us to pierce that market, it would be a hercluean effort, as we are concentrating on stable servers, and getting caught up on content, so no, there are no plans to bring WoW to the consoles".

Why would it matter, the XBL WOW probably wouldnt be on the same servers as the PC WOW. And WOW is on the Mac.... so they've already ported it once.

Also, Blizzard has made just about every other availible for consoles.

Blizzard could spit in their customers faces, take a dump in their ice cream and make them eat it, and burn down their house, and they would barely lose customer 1. Those people are addicted. Sure, they'd ACT all outraged....by complaining while playing the game they continue to pay for. An XBox 360 release would spark angry words, and nothing more, just like 95% of all "internet outrage."

You have to wonder if Nintendo's decision to let people download games from their entire library is making Microsoft look in that direction. Hell, Microsoft might have an easier time with Sega's stuff than their own.
so is microsoft going to announce a giant hdd? or do we have to mod our own?
I'm sure they will have one soon enough....especially if this DOES come true. I would love some old Genesis games and things like that.

So Bliizard is going to wait 1 month to give their 5 million users an exspansion?

I doubt the 360 could get close to that number of users.

They never ported to the MAC the day it launched the same start up discs could be used on PC or MAC.

No way an MMORPG on a console could break 1,000,000 let alone 5,000,000.

At best WOW would attract 500-750K users.

While I'd love to see it I don't know if that kind of user base makes a port worth while. That number would also take a huge hit if you couldn't game with PC/Mac gamers.

While not impossible it just seems to be a very high technical hurdle to overcome for a six figure increase in your user base.

It's not like WOW is a game driven by overwhelmingly high specs. There aren't that many gamers that would have a 360 that wouldn't have a PC/Mac that could run the game well. Besides, that game isn't exactly controller friendly and how would you incorporate voice into a game that's primarily KB/mouse driven for communication?

In regards to the DC fans being driven by nostaligia? I don't think so. 99-2001 really did see an incredible amount of fantastic games unequaled in a first 12 month period of time for hardcore gamers. That's the key though, it was an enthusiast system.

Current mainstream gamers wouldn't go gaga over this but if you put up 50 DC games for download you'd sell bigger HDD's and I can easily picture buying 10 games even at $10 each.
