Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Gen. Discussion

I guess the slots are the "random" way to level up or get special attacks or whatever. It is a little weird. I just started playing too and I'm only about an hour or so in. So far I'm liking it, but it's very linear and there are too many cut scenes. Does the world open up where you can just wander around and explore eventually? Even though some people feel it's too button-mashy, I like the combat system. You still get to position yourself, block, and evade in what feels like real-time rather than turn-based.

Not really, no. At one point you have a small amount of environments you can run around in, but there's really nothing to interact with except for people who don't say anything meaningful. And for the last couple chapters of the game, you have no freedom at all, and your source for HP renewal and Raise status are forever taken away from you.

Better late than never. Everyone who likes action RPGs should get a PSP and this game.
I am near the end and have completed 70% of the missions.
