Crysis Demo - September 25

Well I'm interested to see if Crytek was serious about making this game run on even older computers and still look good. I'm getting new stuff this year, so I don't care all that much I guess, but yeah.

Oh, and it'll be cool if the game's good too.

with what they've shown it is fantastic, but then again they have been slices of the game so who knows how the full product ends up.

Yeah, the shit they've shown has been really, really good. Sometimes though, the combat just isn't fun when you actually play the game. That doesn't look like it could be the case here, as it looks visceral and ridonkulously fun, but ya never know.

I can't wait. I also wanna see how this run on my system. What I really want to see are the physics, the trees falling down, the leaves moving as you run past and all that.
so whats the minimum system requirements for this game? is it still planned to work on DX9 video cards?
I would also like to know. I want to see if my system is capable of running it.

Hmm... Bioshock specs are ridiculously low, considering it's a next-gen game. It runs on my notebook with 2GB RAM and Go 7950GTX. (Remember, it's a LAPTOP). It runs maxed out with 720p. I saw the min reqs for Crysis. Somethign like:

3GHz Processor or Dual-Core
6800+
1GB RAM, 1.5 for Vista
blah blah blah
Not as high as you'd expect.... but high enough.

EDIT: Off of some random site --

Minimum
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
RAM: 1GB
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Recommended
CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800 or ATI X1800 (SM 3.0)
RAM: 1.5GB+
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Thats not a laptop, it's a desktop replacement. Would you ever play a game with that toaster on your lap? And what did it cost you, like, $4000?

$1800... :\

And it runs at 51 C idle, 70 while playing BioShock demo. It's a Clevo M570RU, and I got it barebones. So much cheaper than Alien-fuckmeuptheass-ware.

Nice deal. But a 7950GTX is not "ridiculously low". Its great that Crysis won't require an 8800 card! You'll need one to enjoy the full glory but you should always be able to play a game with 2 year old hardware and have it be more than just a slide show.

Aye, remember that I'm a CAG. I'd never spend over $2K on a computer. Ever.

What I meant by ridiculously low is that the videos/screens made it seem so hi-tech that you'd need an 8800GTX to play it. The 7950GTX mobile is about the same as a 7900GS desktop. If a 7900GS can play BioShock at full settings and HD, I'd say the game is pretty well optimized, and a lower-end system could also run it.

To be honest, when I first heard of Crysis I wasn't too impressed. Now that more info and videos have been released, I'm on the list of getting it when it hits $40. (I've never gotten a game for more than $20 :))

question just how scalable the game is. I got the new maximum pc yesterday and they had an interview with Crysis' director, and he said the game was optimized to quad core processors and that it would run fairly well on dual core setups. Doesn't quite sound like it's going to be that scalable.

Since I ordered Halo 3 from LionsGames this will be a nice thing to hold me over until it comes.
I got a new system with an AMD Duel Core 6000+, 2 Gigs of DDR2, and a 8800 GTS, so I should be able to run the demo with pretty much maximum settings on my 1280x1024 monitor.
