I have always used consoles flat and not on side, my understanding is internal optical drive wears out less if used in horizontal position rather than vertical. What do you CAGr's think.
I've heard of that 'wears out on it's side' thing before too, but I only remember hearing it in regards to the PS2. I have heard no such things for the Wii. Nintendo even recommends using it on it's side.
That being said, my Wii is on it's side. There is no other way it should be.
I've heard having a PS2 in vertical position helps the thing read games better, but that's PS2. For the Wii, I have it veritical to save space and because it looks cooler.
I used to have it standing up until I changed tv stands and had to lay it flat. I have to say that it's definitely less sexy this way.
same thing here, used to have it on its side but now w/ a new entertainment system i cant attach GC controllers unless its laying flat. definitely, definitely not as sexy.
I have had my PS2 now for 5 years vertical and not once did I ever have a problem with it. Infact if I loaded a game in it now it would run just like I bought the damn thing in 2001. As for the Wii, the Wii just is more sexy on it's side.
