Curse $14 Dreamcasts!

I spent little more than $40 for a Dreamcast, 2 controllers, a VMU, and six games. Yet...I still feel like it was wasted money. I think the Dreamcast was a great system in its prime (namely the years before the PS2 came out and the whole 'starting online gaming' thing...heh) but has not aged well. It's too loud and most of the better games can be found in other forms on other systems...I do not think the DC was a bad system and if you've supported it from the beginning than you probably love it, but me...eh. I know a little over $40 is not a lot of money but for $14 I could not resist. My money would've been better spent on a N64 probably. Anyway I just wanted to get this off my chest...I might try to sell this as some sort of a bundle and use the cash for ChuChu Rocket on GBA (the only DC game I think I'll miss).

N64 as a better purchase.. aging... Both were great, but the DC really pushed some boundaries and I think was 1 step ahead of the industry. Soul Calibur blew me away and for that game alone I keep my DC (plus Skies of arcadia!)

I used to be a huge Dreamcast fan. I got it 3 weeks after it was released in the US and have close to 50 games for it. But I rarely play it anymore. I guess part of it has to do with that a lot of games are on other systems. Like I can play Crazy Taxi 1 and 2 on Crazy Taxi 3 on Xbox or play Space Channel 5 on PS2 (with Part 2).

It was an excellent, under rated system but I really lost interest in the system in the past few months :(

how much do you want for the package?

My original dc broke, and while I didnt play it all that much I do miss it and have been thinking about getting another.

anyhow, let me know if you really wanna sell it.

also I dont recall what store had the $14 dollar deal, but is it availible anywhere online ?

TIA

I had both a 64 and a DC. I liked the DreamCast more than 64 because of Virtial On, Shuenue, SC, Gundam 0080 and project Justice ( Where is PS2 port of that ). The 64 games i liked was paper mario, Goldeneye and Smash Bros. The worked as a Web TV by getting me my porn email if the computer in the shop. MY X-Box and PS2 still dont do that. Dreamcast was better. But I love my Pikachu Edition 64.
there were actually consoles that went online before the Dreamcast.
which consoles?

anyways i still use my dc because capcom refuses to port third strike...

Certain Gamestops would let you get th 30% off the DC console, so that made it exactly $14. And while I do want to get rid of my DC, I want to do so locally. Not have to pay shipping and such.

Buyer pays shipping. Not seller. :D

How do you play Crazy Taxi 1 and 2 on Crazy Taxi 3? I've never played the game but if the original 2 Crazy Taxis are included on it I might try to find a cheap ass deal on it :)

The DC is still a great system, and there are plenty of great games for it that you can't play on other systems. Games like Power Stone, Giga Wing, Giga Wing 2, Mars Matrix, Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future, Jet Grind Radio, Alienfront Online, Seaman, Speed Devils, Gunbird 2, and on and on. And I'm not even counting some of the awesome Japanese DC games that are exclusive to the system.

The cities from CT 1 and 2 are included on 3. However, they are expanded to adjust to the "Crazy Jump" or whatever its called.

the dreamcast, like all the other sega systems were too advanced to be properly appreciated by normal people. The dreamcast hed quality games, mmorpgs and fps. The graphics colud even rival the ps2 and gcn (maybe not the X). Sega was the first company to make online gaming. the genisis teamed up with at&t to have online gaming with voice chat (like most new games now) in 1994! Sega was always to far a head of its time...

The DC had a MMORPG? Care to name it?

Yah, PSO was the MMORPG and has been the only MMORPG that has interested me. I played that game to death and loved every minute :)

And 99% of those versions are inferior to the Dreamcast versions.

You dug up a six year old thread to say that?

PSO wasn't an MMORPG, it's an MORPG. There is no world where everyone in the server plays at once; just a central hub to meet up so you can get in a game with up to 4 people.

On a whole this thread is an abomination. I have played my Dreamcast for more hours in the past year than the PS3.
