FIRST OFF, yes I know, there are hundred of you that warn everyone to stay away from the place, guess I had to learn the hard way(and really only because I had gift cards to blow)

Guys might look around the net and specifically Best Buy's own support forum regarding Gift Cards and refunds. From what I'm reading It seems refunds are not being given on gift cards when a item is returned or order cancelled.

I ordered something in stock, promised to be ready in 45 minutes, in 5 minutes I was sent a text notice that there was something wrong with their inventory(showed in stock, both both of the two bluray box sets "in stock" are missing). Now my $65 is missing also

Just want to give a heads up, maybe spare someone else my troubles
so you couldn't return an item you bought using a GC?
They never had it to begin with, their system is jacked. So I cancelled the order(obviously), and the gift cards are empty.....
I have no idea what you're rambling about.
yeah was on a bit of a rant, I cleaned it up, a lot more simple now

Wouldn't it take a few days to reapply to the GC? that or they will send you a GC in replacement?

I guess I never had to do a cancellation with GC as purchase but a simple Customer service visit would fix it up I would think.

I don't quite understand exactly what you are trying to say.

Did you order this directly from the website, or did you order it for in store pick-up?

And did you actually call up BB customer service about this, or is this just from what you've read on forums?

OP, you need to explain your situation better before posting.

Gift Cards are considered payment, and they have to be refunded like any other purchase means, be it credit card, cash, check, Reward Zone certificates or gift card.

If you purchase an item with a gift card, you're going to get a replacement gift card with the gift card value back on it from what you spent. Best Buy isn't going to stiff you out of a return because it's a gift card used for the purchase.

The only thing you don't get back from any purchase at Best Buy when you return it are digital coupon codes, which are single-use, usable only on BestBuy.com and they discount the price of the item used on the purchase. They're the same format as the McDonald's promotion codes from back in the day.

Basically, OP, if you used a gift card for the purchase, you get the money back either on a new gift card or back on the original one if it's still alive and working. If you're not getting that taken care of, call and complain about it.

Sounds a lot like he's simply canceled the order and expected it to be magically placed back on his GC the second he canceled the order.

Since it hasn't, he did some reading and found others in his situation.

Naturally, I'm going to guess he hasn't contacted BB customer service, because if he had, I'm sure they'd have worked with him.

No they wouldn't. Best Buy customer service is awful. It's like you're calling someone's house. They seem incredibly bothered to speak to you. However, I imagine the amount will be put back automatically.

I bought an item last month for instore pickup with a gift card.
Item could not be found.
Took a couple days, which staff described as the norm. Credit was reloaded on the card, just not immediately.

I can't imagine that I would want to work for Best Buy's CS line. I can't expect anyone to be happy to talk to a bunch of illiterate geeks with entitlement issues whether it's their job or not.

I'm still trying to get my GC replaced/credited after they canceled one of my orders because of their mistake. Called CS almost 2 weeks ago and they said it would take 3-7 business days or so. I've been patient but still nothing. Going to call again soon.

I don't think they would purposely try to screw you out of the GC though. I suggest calling customer service and keep calling until you get someone helpful.
