Here's the posting from the auction for those that missed it, along with my analysis in brackets. Note: This auction ended at $5,300!!!!! I don't know why I'm typing this, I guess I'm bored
Relisted for the THIRD TIME. WE WILL NOT GIVE UP.
[The first time this guy listed it, it didn't meet the reserve price, it ended at $450 or something. I'd assume this was before the guy got mentioned in the paper]
No kidding. Three undeserving boys have crossed the line. Tonight we sat down and showed them what they WILL NOT get for Christmas this year. I'll be taking down the tree tomorrow. (December the 23rd)
[I have no real problem with disciplining your children how you see fit, within reason. This seems a bit extreme, but if the kids were really misbehaving, I can see it]
Three DS Systems WITH PictoChat AND Metroid.
Three games - Spiderman, Super Mario something, and Asphalt driving game.
[Super Mario something... lol]
THIS IS FOR EVERYTHING.
If you don't buy them we'll return them to the store.
[No one bought them the last time, but then he got mentioned in the news, which brough him a lot of publicity, so he probably figured he'd cash in on that, rather than returning them to the store]
NOTE: This is for THREE full systems in perfect shape - WITH THREE GAMES. The information says NEW but my wife and I opened two of them VERY CAREFULLY and tried them for about 2-3 minutes each. They are still in the bags and perfect in every way.
[Probably why he can't just take em back]
They truly are the neatest thing I've ever seen. (We tried the PictoChat and it was absolutely amazing...)
[Either he's trying to taunt his kids with this line, or it's hype to try and sell the things for more money]
Remember kids - Good things happen to good people. Bad things happen to bad people.
[Yak yak yak, preach preach preach. I doubt many kids actually read this auction]
This is a perfect example of what happens to bad kids.
[More preachin']
Note: On our past auction this page was copied and duplicated by someone with bad intentions. We posted their name to our auction and brought it to everyone's attention. Because our actions were good and honorable
[Everything we do is good and honorable! Everyone else is the bad guys!]
- Ebay cancelled the auction. You can't mention another user's name in your auction - even when they have done wrong and you are warning others to steer clear.
[you could have just made mention to watch out for phony versions of this auction without mentioning names]
Appearantly another thing we teach our children, "If you tell the truth you can't be wrong" does not apply on this website.
[More preaching. This guy's self-righteous attitude makes me want to hurl. Plus if this auction goes through, he's making nearly $5,000 profit, so what's he complaining about Ebay's ethics for?]
Let's just sell these things and be done with it.
[I thought he was gonna take them back if they didn't sell? And who's "let's"]
Bottom line: From what I can tell, this guy is a self righteous, god-fearing uh... something. What may have started as a way to discipline his kids, turned into something pretty screwed up. The free publicity his auction got made things worse. He also claims he is not intending to profit from his kid's hard earned lesson, and that the money is going to go to buy his small church a heater. Whatever.
