So, Donkey Konga (a Namco drum game) is available exclusively for the gamecube, and Taiko Drum Master (a Namco drum game) will be available for the PS2. Which means those of us who'd like both song lists are completely out of luck, especially if they're thinking about multiplayer. Buying extra drum controllers for both systems is not something most people are likely to do.

Maybe I should have my fun with DK, then sell it before buying TDM? I'm sure I can live without being able to drum to the pokemon theme.

Of course, shipping the thing would be a disaster, so I'd probably need to find a local buyer.

Well, the Conga controller will at least see reuse in at least 1 more game on the Cube, so that good at least.

Agreed. Plus this game is selling good, so expect alot more music addons. Who knows how the drum game will sell for PS2.

I don't care about the PS2 one right now, that of course that could change. I'll stick with Donkey Konga and Jungle Beat.

Does anyone know how well Donkey Konga has sold thus far? I hope it sells well as I would love to see future music discs come out for it.

Don't forget the remote possibilty of an Odama release....
even if its not here... you can always import it...

the RTS/Pinball hybrid will utilize the Kongas as war drums....

Odama.... (just look it up....)

The game's been out for a week....

I will probably pick up both Konga and Drum Master, but I definately won't be picking up multiple drums. My friends can just buy their own!

I mean in japan they already released a second disc for conga use, Like DC Vol 2 so I think the Big Ns drums will be more succesful percentage wise

After playing both extensively, I prefer TAIKO. The song selection and graphics are both better, and I prefer the more skill-based gameplay. It feels more like you're playing a real instrument. It's also had at least two expansions in Japan, if I'm not mistaken, so success of the first version may spawn more.

I do like Donkey Konga, though, don't get me wrong. I've already bought a second pair of congos ($25 @ BB B&M with GGC -- that's a lot of acronyms).

About 5-6 tracks are nintendo-specific:

super mario bros.
the zelda theme
DK rap (if you missed it??)
donkey konga theme
pokemon and kirby tv theme songs.

Is it really worth it?
Without DK Jungle Beats it seems TDM would be the clear winner.

I will give DK the advantage in the design categories (bongos which are barrels, after all) but that's about it.

What upcoming games are coming out that use the congas? I assume there will be more music disks, but am I remembering correctly that there will be a platformer that uses the congas? Whats Jungle Beats that eldad9 mentioned?

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat... that's the platformer.
There is also the pinball game "Odama" that was spoken of. I really hope that one makes it to the US.

When a CheapAssGamer like me goes out and gets Donkey Konga and shells out full MSRP, you know it's selling well. (Plus Fry's Electroics in the Bay Area, CA is completely sold out; Circuit City just one left; Wal-Mart sold out) Like hotcakes baby!

I'm getting an extra set of Bongos this weekend. My gf and bros all love it. This game makes the traditional controllers look boring.

More expansion discs please. Keep 'em coming, Nintendo & Namco. Great product!
