Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2 PS2 - Deal Dead/Ongoing Discussion
I think that's including unlockables. I hear a LARGE portion of the songlist is locked at start, but that's just hear-say, so I can't back that up.
i think all the konami original songs are locked

*cries* So jealous... we moved to a second floor apartment and I haven't been able to play much since :( Thanks for the songlist, though... looks faboo.

Meh... I may have to get it anyway... dunno why I give a crap about the dippy college girls downstairs :p No love for this in the ads, though? Perhaps I will try at BB with the $10 coupon...

I wish some of the PS2 DDR titles would drop to $20. I mean what's the deal? These games never go below $30 like other games. I would figure that they would sell well enough to go Greatest Hits easily.

i lived in the 2nd floor also...and i just got into DDR'ing the past two months. I have all the DDR games for the PS2 now---the thing is i cant do most of the standard modes coz' i'm concern bout my neighbor downstairs.

i think the online mode make this game worth buying.

Maybe they sell really well at their current price point. They could definitely go GH...and hell, Ultramix for Xbox went PH a while back!

Picking my copy up tonight at EB...I have $40 in gift vouchers! Won't get to play until tomorrow night though... :(

I have always wondered that as well. I got friends to pick it up in the buy one used game over $30 and get one under $30 free. They picked up 2 copies for the price of one. Other than that and the In the Groove sale (24.99 after shipping, ends today) I have yet to see a PS2 DDR game really go on sale any respetable time after its release.

I got my copy of DDR E2 today. I have played it a bit and I like the songs so far. I will probably be playing this one for weeks to come now.

Have played it for 2 hours and I have to say its pretty a good game! I still think DDR Max 2 is the best out of any dance game, but this one is pretty good. There are a bit too much pop songs that piss me off. I like the trance and dance songs more, since they are faster. Some of these songs are SLOOOWWWW. I like how you have to buy your songs though, instead of just earning them randomly like it max 2.

It wasnt random at all. Every song in every DDR game before Extreme 2 was earned for completing a certain number of songs successfully.

I kinda liked having the song unlocks after so many songs vs. this buy a song. It gets kinda annoying having to play the dance master mode just to let me get a song. I just like to play. But oh well.

I am playing it now, and I am finally going to agree with this. It is getting to be an annoyance. It was entertaining at first though...
If you're willing to shell out about a hundred bucks for a dance pad, then you might also be willing to consider this pad from Vortz:

http://www.vortz.com/product_2102_5477.html

It's halfway between a soft pad and a metal pad. It's hard (acrylic? plastic?) and costs a good bit to ship--although not as much as a metal pad--if you're not willing to spend $200-300 for an honest to goodness metal pad. Some reviews have panned these pads for poor durability, but I've been fairly pleased with my own. I am not a hardcore fan, however, and probably do not put mine through as much wear & tear as others might. {these pads were a much better bargain a while back; Vortz upped the prices on all of their pads by a good $30 or so some time ago.}

[edit: cmosfm; yeah, but the buttons on Vortz's pad light up! :) Your method certainly sounds very practical and I can see it working pretty well, too. When I got the Vortz pad, however, it was only about ten bucks more than a decent soft pad ($60) so it seemed worthwhile. I couldn't drag my lazy carcass to the local Home Depot. Oh...the effort....]
no that pad blows.. the buttons suck

And just a FYI... it does requre you to get a AAA to unlock some of the "bonus" stages.

Played quite a bit of Dance Master Mode and it's getting old...fast. I am not a beginner player, and I have yet to fail a song...I want to move on to harder things! (Plus, they are all pretty much the same thing!)

I thought exactly the same thing when I first started playing EX2. I pretty much unlocked everything in A,B, and C areas easily. But wait 'till you get to area D (and E). They'll kick your ass.

 I actually thank you for this. I hate having mistakes like that...edited!

Should one ping a moderator asking for a fix on the title? I keep getting excited about a potential good deal on DDR, but alas... DEAD

I'll change the title since I was duped into thinking this was a deal. I just wish I would have seen this sooner!

Ok so yeah... I got the e-mail from Outpost saying they have no idea when they will be able to ship my copy. Basically they gave me the option of leaving things be and they will cancel in 30 days (or I can call and cancel now) or I can call or e-mail them to keep my order active... What do you guys suggest doing at this point?

It all depends on whether or not you want to wait...if you think you can hold out, I'd continue to do so. Or, you could get it at BB for $35 with a GGC and be playing it now...

I agree. I am completely bored with course A and B. I think I failed one of the X songs once (it required a full combo and I missed one step) but otherwise had no problems. Got red stars on most of them. Now with A and B fully done I started on C. For the most part its ok, but I have seen only 1 song so far that was harder. Hit any arrow and its over, and have to hit the arrows 150 times not on. Took me quite a few times to do it.

Anyways it's not quite as bad as I originally thought. Without it I would'nt know that I could AAA songs since I really don't like going down to beginner/light anymore. Still annoying having done 50+ songs in normal mode and not having any songs unlock from it.

How in the world do you get AAA? I am assuming all perfects? Even on beginner, I always manage to throw out one or two greats. That's really stupid if they require that. Can you restart a level if you mess up?

I guess I just wonder how long it will take. I can wait a while. My Best Buy doesn't seem to have the GGCs out anymore. I haven't seen them for ages anyway. Does anyone have any notion of how long a backorder on Outpost can take? I mean if it comes before thanksgiving I would be happy enough.

Yes, AAA's are given when you get all Perfects, and get all O.K.'s for the Freeze arrows. If you are playing Dance Master Mode, you can always go back and redo the song, until you get a AAA. In the past, I used to think AAA's were very hard to obtain. But, after playing through a lot of Dance Master Mode, I have found that AAA's are incredibly easy on Beginner/Light now.... *shrugs*

Yes it is a perfect combo (all perfect). You can retry a level as many times as you want in dance master mode. Switch modes and you do not have to go through all the earlier songs, just pick the one you have unlocked to try again.

I had never gotten a AAA myself until this game. Then again when I used to be in light mode was when I had just started. I now feel a lot more comfortable in the 7-8 foot song level.

I also bit the bullet and got some CF pads so that probably ends up helping a lot too.

It is extreamly annoying to get a AAA for me. I was not happy when I heard you will also have to get a AAA to unlock some stuff on standard/hard levels... some songs will never be unlock it seams...

EDIT : seems Rig beat me to the explanation. Oh well. Sounds like Rig is doing a lot better at this game than me hehe.

Probably because of all the song licensing fees...
Probably because of all the song licensing fees...
That has nothing to do with it.

Tony Hawk games have more licensed tracks than DDR does, but previous versions can be had for 10.00-20.00
