Doh! So, I went to Gamestop tonight and found a used copy of the XBox 360 version with the voucher in it. Checked my online order that I placed on Friday (for the PS3 version) on my phone and saw that it was still listed as "open", so went ahead and bought it figuring I would cancel the order. Of course I didn't hit the cancel button on the online order there (that would have been too simple), but instead waited until I was at home on my computer to do it. I went and grabbed dinner, then came home.
I get home, get online, and the first thing on my mind is the question of whether the voucher still works -- my luck, I'd get a copy that someone sold back this weekend after using it. I enter the code (it does work) and place the order for RF:G. Then I go to the Gamestop website to cancel the order . . . and now the order is listed as "closed" and can't be canceled!
So apparently they shipped my order sometime between 7pm and 8pm on a holiday? How'd they do that? (I mean, even if they're on PST at their shipping center, it's still a postal holiday.) And I still haven't received a shipment confirmation email . . .
So now I've got a dilemma -- which do I return? The new PS3 copy from the website when it arrives, or the used 360 copy from the store now? I feel a little guilty about having used the voucher code, but not entirely since none of the other used copies that I've seen have had them anyway (and I checked three stores before giving up and ordering online). But I'm thinking about the discussion of the PS3 shutdown issues earlier vs. the graphics issues in the 360 version (I know the tearing is supposed to be fixed, but I think I read something somewhere about framerate issues still? that's why I ordered the PS3 version, before this shutdown stuff came up). When it comes down to it, taking into account the $10 coupon, the new copy is actually cheaper. Any thoughts?
If I return the new copy, are they going to try to keep some of the money for shipping/handling? I used the free shipping option, but obviously it still costs them something and the return policy does say "handling costs are not refundable", so they might try to keep something to cover it?
