I'm such an asshole. I just sent in the form, receipt and check but I forgot to include the UPC barcode. Is there a way I can fix this before the 03/07/10 deadline?
My copy just arrived. It had the "heat gun shrink wrap" which is quite different from every other PS3 game I've opened. No voucher either.
Same here.

Asshole probably isn't the right word - dumbass would be better :)

You can cross your fingers and hope that they accept the request without the UPC. Or if you can get a copy of your receipt (I know you can do this at Target and Best Buy), you can send in another completed form along with another check and the UPC. If you do this, you may want to call your bank and have them cancel the first check.

 I think my bank charges $15 or $20 to cancel a check. I'm going to try and find their customer service phone number and just call them in a week or two. Maybe they'd be willing to take my UPC number over the phone or maybe even fax. *crosses fingers*

EDIT: I found their number in the back of the Darksiders manual if anyone needs it.

That might be a tough sell. The UPC numbers are the same for all copies of the game - that's why they have you send in the UPC - to prove you have an actual, physical copy of the game. They might take pity on you with the receipt, but the other part of it is if the game still has the UPC code, it's returnable - so theoretically you could take it back after you got your free stuff. Again, another reason they require you to send in the UPC.

Good luck.

Well, got my PS3 Darksiders today. It was shrink-wrapped, and it was definitely a repackage. How could I tell? There were also clearly visible fingerprints on the disc.

I don't have a problem with it not containing a voucher, because I didn't expect one. I do, though, have a problem with them sending me a repackaged disc as "new". I called them, and they're sending me a replacement copy and a shipping label to send this one back. We'll see what I get, I guess.

I just got mine and same it was rewraped and no vocher either. Fail! I also agree very different from any and every PS3 game I have ever opened.

Agreed, I think that is to prove that you have opened the game and therefore cannot return it to the place of purchase.

Where the lucky people with codes have opened their games in order to get the code, so returning the game is not possible.

Decided to eat the extra $4.99 and send it in again. Hopefully, THQ has some integrity and will only cash one of my checks.

I took advantage of the price and started playing a little this evening.

Holy crap, I am having a blast!

What a fun game, worth every penny.

Don't know about GS.com, but in-store the price went back up to $59.99 new/$54.99 used, so this one is dead at least in-store.

Please keep up posted on what happens.
I'm finding that the Ps3 version stutters quite frequently, ala Assassins Creed 2. I'm only about an hour in... maybe it gets smoother?
Wait till you get to the one boss fight against a giant worm. The framerate drops at times to the point where everything looks like it's going in super slo-mo.

You know you can cancel your first check that you sent. Contact your bank.

Finally got my copy today. It took all stinkin' week to get here. It was wrapped in the same type of heat-shrink wrap that others have mentioned, with no code inside. I carefully inspected everything for even the slightest fingerprint and saw nothing, so I think this wrapping is legit. I googled it and apparently others from the beginning of the games release have noted the same type of wrapping.

As far as the game goes....BAD ASS! Not as sharp graphically as Dante's Inferno, but very stylish and action packed.

I looked in the glass case at my local Target and Darksiders was wrapped in the same cheap shrinkwrap that my new Gamestop copy came wrapped in. No hanky panky from GS going on...well, at least as far as the new copies of this game being sent out.

Yes, but my bank charges $20 or so to cancel a check. It's financially worthwhile for me to just send another check.

Did you get an email saying they cancelled your order for lack of payment? That's what I got, and when I called customer service, I somehow had 2 order numbers. The one that got cancelled I never paid for, and I had another one that was processed.

No, my online order at Gamestop went through fine except for them not sending me the $10 code which I then had to get from one of their CSRs.

Yea sucks deal is over because just got back from EB Games, went in and grabbed the PS3 version which said $39.99 New on the front of the box, when the guy rung it up it was full price and I said their must be a problem, he said he wasn't sure why it was ringing up full price when it says $40 on the box so he grabbed the manager, he tried and tried but nothing so I just said screw it and walked out.

If they had 39.99 as the price on the case they are obligated to sell it to you for that price. If they refuse, all you have to do is point out that it's false advertising, which is against the law.

they should have price adjusted it for you for that reason

We had a gift card for Best Buy, so we tried to get them to price match GameStop (where we'd just been, looking at the 39.99 on the box), and GS told Best Buy on the phone that it was full price there, so no price match. Super lame. And the BB people were rude, too.

Depends on which state you live in. Some states require stores to sell it at the listed price, whether it is a mistake or not. Others don't.
