I have never danced DDR.

I know, I know.... OMG NEVAR DDR?

Yup, never.

I would like to get started.

What would a DDR veteran recommend in the way of a cheapass DDR game and mat. Just recommendations please, unless someone has something they want to sell.

BTW, I searched and couldn't find a thread like this.

I have PS2. Hoping for something cheaper than $60... Looking I guess at hopefully around $40. But I'll keep those in mind as a reference. Thanks!

I'm not ddr compliant... My feet are too big. I always hit the frame around the button (front and back) so my foot doesnt trigger the buttons... =(

I noticed that DDR Extreme is newer, does it have all the songs from the older versions of DDR? I mean, is it cumulative, or is it a different selection of music for every version?

You are really going to have a tough time getting both a mat and game for $40. The cheapest DDR game for PS2 (DDRMAX) is $30 + GGC at BB would be $25. Then, you could pick up a cheapo flimsy $20 mat + GGC would be $15. Total: $40. That's your best bet, if you have a BB and GGC still... Good luck!

No. Different songs for different versions. The older PS2 ones are better than Extreme, IMO.

I know this is not the best thing but I got DDR MAX and 2 pads (PS2) off ebay for $40 with shipping. I got the item for $25.00 and the Shipping cost was $15. Both pads came new and so did the game. Check ebay listing but beware most of the sellers charge at least $15-25 for shipping with pads from the searching I did, but I was still very pleased with my purchase.
For PS2- DDR Extreme w/ Pad. ($60)
XBOX- DDR Ultramix 2 ($60). Definitely worth it. Just check your local stores,
I agree with regi cept that DDR Extreme extremely sucks. Get ddr 2 (purple cover with that upright draggon lookin thinngie)

You know the majority of heavy players that I see at the arcades are actually pretty big (not fat, but sometimes yes) people themselves. Its like people who you would look at and think wouldnt be good at ddr are actually some of the best.

Kayden, what size shoes do you wear? I wear a 15. I've been interested in trying DDR for sometime and hadn't thought that the size of feet might be a problem. It doesn't surprise me though. When you're really tall and have big feet many things aren't the right size for you.

if u need cheap pads, i use the mad cats ones from best buy for $20... i haven't had any probs with them yet... the only thing i'd have to complain about is they kinda slide around a bit depending on what surface ur using em on. u could probally use a GGC with it so $15 total.
