I have a 360 and am looking at grabbing DDR Universe this week. But before I shell out 89.99 for it I want to know if it's worth buying from others who have boughten or played it.

I really want to simply because it has a beginner mode that helps you learn all the tricks of how to actually play and doesn't throw a ton of arrows at you to start and expect you to do well. Probably won't though as it is pricey.

As a big fan of DDR, I had to have the game when it was released. If you think you can wait, I would recommend doing so.

If you have other (better) DDR mats, I would say wait until an adaptor is released so you can use those, and pick up the game without the bundle. That'd save some money right there.

This one has its share of issues. Quest Mode is horrible, the "Perfect" and other words are too close to the arrows, the arrows themselves are smaller than usual, and the default "Vivid" color of the arrows blends in to the background too often. It's harder to tell the 16th notes and such from regular notes.

I didn't like quest mode much, but that is because I jumped into it a little too soon (this is my first DDR and I suck). Regardless, there are some pretty evident problems with the mode. I haven't really noticed any problems with the text position or the arrow colors, but I am playing on the lowest difficulty (where it wouldn't be as noticeable) and I don't have anything with which to compare it.

It's $70 at CompUSA and I've been hesitating since the reviews don't talk about how it works for kids. I'd love to get my son on a game that requires some physical activity. Boston has a long winter.
Thanks.

Yeah, I did forget to mention that. The mat worked great for me on my PC for Stepmania.

Ya I think I can probably wait. My friend and I were going to both get it so we could play over XBL. I've never played DDR before ever so I dont have any other dance mats. Maybe I will just wait on it.

If you already have DDR on another machine, in my opinion, it is not worth it. If you don't have any DDR at all, it is worth it. Especially if you don't have other consoles.

I only bought it because I am trying to retire my PS2. Once GH2 360 is here, bye-bye PS2.

IMO, not one of the better DDRs, but solid. I'm a huge DDR freak, so I somewhat like it. It's definitely my most played 360 game though.

I waited for the non-bundle version, so I could buy a nice Ignition pad type myself.

I like it, im a ddr fan and no longer have it on ps2 since selling the system. The pad works well, and online is good, even though I get schooled. Even better my friend got rid of his, so i bought his mat from him. 2 player!

I have a metal RedOctane Afterburner pad and I can't believe they have not announced Xbox 360 compatibility yet. If that happens, I will get DDRU, not otherwise.

I would suggest just buying a U.S. PS2 and getting a swap disc or an import PS2 and buy the import games as the music is much better and the songlist is usually superior in all regards to the U.S. one. The only exception here is DDRMAX 2 U.S. and possibly MAX U.S. period.

Yeah, I've got a metal pad as well, and I haven't played Universe in a while. Disappointed (and surprised really) that nobody has brought out an adaptor yet.

It's just terrible with a non-metal mat if you do anything over Standard.

Yes but you don't OWN the games so you're in the wrong if you're playing it on SM. Also if it's a non-DDR song but you own the soundtrack I don't see the harm, I mean with Dancemania.
Another problem supposedly is the engine on Universe may not even reach 60 FPS since it's based off the garbage Ultramix engine.

As somebody who owned the bundle since day 1, I'd say wait for a price drop. Im not going to restate whats been said about the quest mode and song selction, but i will mention this. If your planning to play on an HDTV, I recommend turning off the bg video and dancers. This allows the game to run smoothly like the PS2 engine. Looking back it kinda blows that you have to kill the new hi def background. Very colorful and trippy stuff.

Konami needs some competition here.
Compared to Guitar Hero DDR is an embarrassment IMO.
They haven't improved the actual gameplay since, well ever.
