[Dead] $19.99 EA NHL 2005 (ps2) pre-order @ bestbuy.com

Also, EB Games has NBA Live 2005 on preorder for $39.99. Is EA dropping the prices of the sports games that could get beaten in sales?

most liekly a mistake since the xbox version is still $50. I guess youre a hockey fan and own a ps2 you should go for it.

For some reason I have a feeling that EA is afraid of getting beat in sales. I love EA and i would choose an EA game anyday over a sega game but NHL and NBA sales have been too close. NBA live is now 40 and now NHL is 20.

Agree. Don't think it's a mistake. ESPN is kicking them in a ......

this is intresting. i mean madden will sell at 50, but other ea franchises are somewhat behind sega's and ea might be realizing it. anyways im gunna pre order and see what comes of it. i mean that cant say they never get this one is stock XoD

ouch! almost 24$ after shipping and tax! but its worth it. i havent played an ea game since nhl 2001(which is still sweet today).

if this price is universial, ill just cancel my order and instore ggc it. something tells me ea wouldnt retail it for 20 tho. 30 or 40 sounds more realistic if they were to drop some prices.

either way gooooooooo sega!!

From what I've heard, Sega's hockey game is supposedly much better than EA's this year. Maybe they're afraid people will see that the better game is actually $30 cheaper.

i dunno i mean people still can associate $20 with a crap game

i agree, espn is better, im just saying the general public might feel the cheaper game would be cheaper for a reason.

anyways bb lists it as $50.00 with a $30.00 savings so i dont think its a price drop.

i already have espn nhl2k5 and it is awesome as usual. it is becoming a trend for espn to kick ea's ass.

all we need now is for visual concepts to make a soccer game lol but i dont think they would.

They should make a soccer game. Sega's other soccer games, Virtua Stiker series is sub par IMO and Soccer Slam, although fun really can't compete with Fifa or Winning Eleven.

i doubt they could top konami

EA is overrated as a sports powerhouse. Yes, Madden and NCAA are the best football franchises out there, and no one beats Tiger when it comes to golf games, but the other sports are usually done better by other companies.

do you think winning eleven would sell more under the espn sports tag??

i know winning eleven is awesome but the public really doesnt know about it. maybe if sega and konami partnered it would sell more

it prolly could but i dont know if they would go along with the whole $20 pricing.

Man, if this deal is true, I will be very happy. I can justify to myself spending 20 on this game, was having trouble justifying 50. I hope some of the other so-so EA titles will do this also, NCAA B-Ball or FIFA.

i dont understand why so many people actulyl hate EA. all they do is market themselves well. A casual(sports; alot of casual gamers play only sports games) gamer thinks EA makes all the best games because of the image they present. and who would want anything but the best?

i like playing madden, but id NEVER pay more than $10 for it. because within a year, thats what it will cost. usually thats how i am with all sports games. however i like hockey alot. i but almost all hockey games eventully. so if best buy will sell it to me for 20, it looks like ill be buying both games this year ^^

EAs bball game sux, it so cartoony, almost like NBA Jam, I had shaq makin threes. I hope all of this price lowering forces EA to make a better product.

Heh, that would be awesome if they did. I loved WE6; haven't played 7 yet, though. It's definitely the best soccer game on the market (if you like a realistic soccer sim),

I gave it a shot also. It says "sale", so who knows. I'd rather have the Xbox version if it plays in 480p. Anyone know? Thanks.

If anything, I'll just buy it to make some money off of it. For 20 bucks you can't beat it. I'm sure once they get it to your house you can put it up on eBay for 40-50 easily. BestBuy.com still has free shipping right?

Sega SPORTS much better this year!!!

ESPN 2K5 Knock down Madden 2005 and NCCA 20056 unless you're madden & NCAA fans. Also, I did played EA NCCA 2K5 and it OK (average title)

ESPN NHL 2k5 is much better compare to EA NHL 2k5 and that's the reason why is $19.99 now.

I think ESPN NBA will kick EA NBA again !!!

Wrong, they got rid of that a few weeks ago.

^^^ It would come to 23.79 for me. Definitely worth it for reselling reasons when/if it sucks compared to NHL 2K5, which I am enjoying at the moment. Haven't played an EA NHL game in 3 years.

Don't forget about MVP Baseball.

I don't understand why everyone in this thread is going gaga for a 20 dollar EA hockey game when you can already pick up the obviously superior ESPN for 20 bucks, without any "pricing mistakes".

DEAD.

"We're Sorry

I bet it'll come back at it's regular price soon.

Is there anything that can be done if BB tries to cancel the orders when it was this price. I remember when the Geforce 4 video cards came out, they had a preorder price that was super cheap, and everyone who ordered it had their orders cancelled and got a gift certificate for 20 bucks.

i just checked my status on the site and its not cancelled and still 23$.

my hopes for this have diminished greatly tho

Just FYI - NFL 2K5 is a vastly superior product to Madden once you turn on Performance EQ.

NHL 2K5 is brilliant, and although I haven't tried the NBA game, I hear it is very good. Same goes for ESPN's college hoops, I suppose.

I like ESPN's baseball product, too, although I know that some are not crazy about it. A matter of taste . . . but for $20, why not pick it up, too?

Agree on the NHL games, though . . . why get NHL 2005 when NHL 2K5 is supposedly much, much better. If you are going to spend an extra $20 on another NHL game, go to circuitcity.com and by NHL Hitz Pro for $20.

Why would Konami do that...the game is a huge seller overseas and if you recall ESPN ditched Konami in favor of Sega Sports. Plus they probably don't want to sell it for $20.

Also, if there was a random ESPN Soccer for the first time in 3 years it would possibly do one thing. Remind people of the terrible ESPN MLS Extra Time game, Konami has finally established a good rep for Winning Eleven in the states and probably wouldn't want to take a chance at tarnishing that rep now.

i just got an e-mail saying that the date of the game was changed from the 20th to the 22nd, but i checked and its still $23...so maybe?

Man that is horseshit, I just got the same e-mail. I was hoping it was true, but I guess not. Man best buy freakin sucks.

I got the same email saying the order had been cancelled. Checked my order on bestbuy.com and it still showed the order was active and on preorder still. I just called best buy customer service ready to rip them a new one and they confirmed the order was still active. They said the email saying the order was cancelled was sent out in error. For some reason I just feel like they haven't updated the website yet. If it does get cancelled i'm going to argue with them but I don't know if it will help. Anyone successfully got them to honor the price on an item they listed for the wrong price? Any help would be appreciated.

I will get this for 20 bucks or I will not shop at their store. If I see a sign in the store thats wrong they have always honored the listed price, and then they would remove the sign...They better honor this price.

Send them a letter saying you are going to report them to the Better Business Burearu with your receipts, and that you will claim false advertising. They legal cant cancel your order on the basis of an error

Any ideas why BB had the error in the price? I think in their stupidity they got it confused with the ESPN game. It was weird how they had it on sale though - it said "you save 30 dollars."

That won't get you anywhere. They aren't liable for their mistake, that's contract law 101.
