[Dead] $19.99 EA NHL 2005 (ps2) pre-order @ bestbuy.com

i just got a cancel letter as well. i e-mailed them back about how it took them 10 days to catch an error and complained about them holding fund in my bank account for the same length of time...prolly nothing will happen but ill bitch just because its bestbuy ^^
sweeeet i got 5 digital dollars!
everyone bitch!!
I didn't write them, but I also got a couple of $5 digital coupons for this.

Weird thing is, my debit card still has a pending charge for this on 9/7 (and still not refunded), and then *another* pending charge for this on 9/14. I know that they sometimes they put a hold on your funds, then that hold expires and then they must put another hold on it, but my initial hold hasn't even been refunded yet. Why they would put the 2nd hold on it after they cancelled my orders is also weird.

My order was cancelled as well. I decided to call customer service. They said all the computer showed as the cancellation reason was "item unavailable' At this point I asked for a manager to get more information as to way the order was cancelled. I was originally told that the agent I spoke to was the highest level I could go to and that managers were there for administrative purposes only. I asked for another number where I could talk to a manager and she put me on hold to check. A manager came on at that point and he couldn't explain why the order was cancelled but offered to place another order for the game at the 19.99 price.

The way they said this works is as follows. They place the order on the phone right there and it will be 49.99. Then they sent a memo to the credit department to correct the charge back to 19.99. I will supposedly receive an email in a couple hours showing I ordered the game for 49.99. Then in the next couple days I will receive another email from the credit department saying the price has been adjusted to 19.99. I would rather get the game at this price rather than get some digital bucks. Give them a call if you still want the game for the 19.99. I can't guarantee you will get it for this price but it worked for me this time.

I think the secret to getting what I wanted was I didn't lose my cool or raise my voice at all I was friendly and polite but demanded answers at the same time. I would have got nasty if they refused to give me the game for the original price I ordered it for. So we will find out in a couple days if i'm getting the game for 19.99 or not.

Ok update on my status. The credit department wrote me back saying it was a pricing error and they could not honor the price. Being the Manager I spoke with over the phone promised me that I would get the game at this price I complained in an email. They responded with a cut and paste of the pricing policies. This ticked me off.

I did some research through google and found the email address to the VP of Operations for Best buy.com. I wrote her saying she was about to lose a loyal customer for good and forwarded my correspondence with customer service. The next day I got a call back from a Manager at the corporate office. He gave me a few options on how to resolve the situation and I decided to have him send me a $30 gift card to redeem for merchandise in store. Don't know if I will be getting NHL 2005 with that gift card, but i am going to get a $50 game for 20 bucks. Issue finally resolved. I told you guys i wasn't giving up.

Hey watch your mail cause best buy can still screw you. I called them a month ago and they said an item was 100 bucks cheaper then it was well i called the 800 line and they said to fix the problem they would give me a 50 buck gift card. WEll guess what the gift card came today and its only a 10 buck gift card.

i called back and they said i have to call after 4 because they have no idea what im talking about

So just cause they said they are going to give you a 30 buck gift card dont belive it till you get it

I'm sure I will get it. This is after talking with a higher up at the corporate office. I have his direct phone number. He said to call him if there are any problems. He called me directly after I emailed the VP and I wasn't at home so he left a voice mail with his direct number. He said the VP printed out my email to her and gave it to him to resolve. I'm sure this will work out fine, and I have his number in case it doesn't.

Update: I got the $30 gift card as promised. It just so happened that Tales of symphonia is on sale at target for $35 this week. I matched the price at best buy and after the gift card only paid $7 for a $50 game. Because of their mistake I got $30 from best buy. I wanted NHL 2005 but since they aren't even playing hockey this year I decided to get something else. I'm pretty satisfied with the results of me escalating my complaint and with the cheapass game I got.
