I just got an e-mail from Borders announcing 50% off all blu-rays in store. They are also offering 50% on select titles online with the promo code:

BTJ7933K

Here is the link for the select titles:

http://www.borders.com/online/store/ListView_bluray50off?cmpid=SA_20100702

EDIT: You will need a Borders Reward card for the deal to work. It's free to get and all they need is an e-mail. Sale ends 7/4

For the most part, the deals are atrocious, but there were a few nice deals in there. I saw Nine, Ghostbusters, Superbad, and various others that would come out to around $14.50 after half off. Don't forget, free standard shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Edit: Please note that items that were already discounted will only be given the 50% off the original price.

Edit: Here is a list of blus that are actually a decent price with the half off code:

[quote name='kyrhon']Sigh. They jacked up the prices.

District 9 - $40.

It's only $20 after the 50% off. T>T[/QUOTE]

They didn't "jack up the prices" and it wouldn't matter if they did, since the 50% is off list price.

[quote name='UberSwiss']I tried to find as many of the good deals as I can. If I missed any, please let me know.[/QUOTE]

You did an excellent job of outlining the deals; they can be tough to find at Borders.

Gah, I was in a store earlier today and didn't think the 50% would just apply automatically. That's a good price for Life, may have to go back and get it.

Went and got Life BBC edition today for 35. I saw prices at the store were different than the online deals. Example was Percy Jackson online was 19.99 after the discount. At the store it was 29.99 so after discount it would be 14.99. Just a heads up that prices are diff at store.

Well, prices are jacked up in relation to other retail stores.

Several of their Blus are $40. Most other retail stores are around $30. Heck, usually lower.

So in that sense, yes, the prices were kinda jacked up.

Good lord. I found some box sets I'd be interested in, slashed the prices in half, added state tax and they still cost more than the "regular prices" at other shops!

[quote name='monoxide101']I wonder who buys movies at Borders or B&N? It has to be clueless people.[/QUOTE]

Obviously someone is buying from them otherwise they'd stop selling them. Saw a family buy a Disney movie for their kid at B&N for $30 when it's $20 at Best Buy.

Those absurdly high prices can also be found at stores in the mall that primarily sell music and/or movies.

[quote name='ssjmichael']Red Cliff International at $17 is a good deal no? It's $30 at Amazon.[/QUOTE]

That's a good deal, those movies are fantastic.

[quote name='ssjmichael']Sadly it's not working on Criterion Blus. That would have been a good deal. Perhaps in store?[/QUOTE]

It works for everything in store; the selected titles thing is only online. I bought M and The Man Who Fell to Earth yesterday, in addition to some other stuff.

The Man Who Fell to Earth is out of print now, as is Pierrot le fou, which they also had. I even bought a copy of The Third Man on blu-ray from them a few weeks ago; I'd bet there are still some floating around.

I don't think you understand. The sale is 50% off msrp, so the prices would be the same if any retail or online store were having this same sale.

Might just have to go to my Borders and pick up Life. Thanks for the great outlining of the deals, OP!

Sweet thanks.

I never been to a Borders store. will the Blurays automatically ring 50% at the register at the store? any idea when this will end?

Thanks OP, picked up Red Cliff for 17.49 plus tax. I almost imported that one months ago from Amazon UK. This worked even better.

No coupon, just Borders rewards card...

Might grab 9.

Snagged Assassination Of Jesse James and the Criterion version of The Seventh Seal for $30. At Borders' prices, 50% off is about the equivalent of what you could get the same thing for at Best Buy.

Does anyone know approx. how much the Criterions are going for in-store after the 50% off? Do you need some type of membership to get this deal?

It's probably very YMMV, but I was able to get my Best Buy to price match this and they gave me the 50% off on the store price not the list price. My best Buy sits right next to the Borders though.

You will need a Borders Rewards card. It's free and all you need is an e-mail address. Not sure on the in store prices though.
