Amazon DOTD for today is Lost Seasons 1-5 on DVD for $72.99 or on Blu-Ray for $108.99. Comes out to around $14.60 per season on DVD and around $21.80 per season on Blu-Ray.

The Season 1 and 2 Blu-Rays should come with a $20 rebate for each season for those who already own the DVD versions, not sure about Season 3 and up.

Well, trust me for a couple minutes it was $154.49. Amazon must have been messing around with the prices a little bit. It doesn't make a bit of difference anyway.
So did seasons 1 and 2 include a form to receive a rebate if you already own the DVDs?
Yes, seasons 1 and 2 each have the form.

I heard you can only use the rebate once. For either season 1 or season 2, but not both. Some people are saying if you mail them seperate, maybe a week apart, you could luck out and get two $10 checks. Or is it two $20?

I'm still waiting on my amazon order but I don't see how it makes any sense to limit it for only 1 season. The whole idea of the program is to give you an incentive to upgrade to bluray. It don't see how they can limit you to only 1 season for the rebate unless it explicitly says in the fine print.

Well if that is the case then just to be safe I will just have my sister redeem one and I will do the other :D

I'm not 100% sure on how the deal works. That's just something I swear I glanced at reading a Blu-Ray forum last night.

The rebates are for $20 each, first of all. And the rebates say something like "one per eligible product per household" or something like that, so you *can* redeem both of them. Just be sure to mail each rebate in a separate envelope.

Wow, so this set will come to $69 total if you jumped on the deal and had both S1 and S2 on DVD? You just made my day man.

Oh, i think everyone is impressed with Amazon. Oh well, my DVD collections came from there. I wish to visit JApan though.

About problems of out of stock, i suggest you guys understand the game behind Amazon. Collectibles are often bought by a third party vendor. Example, one is sweeping all the stocks so he can manipulate the price. Usually, the price is doubled or even thrice as much. Even if Amazon plug it as stock, sometimes they are stock from third party vendors.

So, i am careful about this. In case my explanation is weak, you may check out Gograbber.com this is where i got the idea. It's cool to know this thing. Sorry i'm new here so i cannot paste a link.:hot:

I was able to get 20 back for both seasons when I did that rebate, so I got S1 and 2 for 40 dollars off.

Bought S5 from best buy before I saw this thread. So I sold S1-5 to a coworker, took out the proof of purchases. Then jumped on the bluray set from amazon. In the end (after rebates) I'll actually be making $$$ by upgrading to blu and getting season 5 thrown in for free. Thanx amazon.....love ya.

Man, that kinda sucks. Season 3 doesn't have a slip cover. I know it's not a big deal, but I like having my collection being as uniform as possible.

I just gave up and will toss the other slipcovers. Best solution. Even the cases with slipcovers don't quite match anyway. At least the physical case spines come close enough. Now I just have to wait a year to buy S6 and chalk one series set off my list as being complete.

Well, my set was delivered yesterday to my apartment office and I picked them up today. I can confirm that I had rebate info in both S1 and S2 boxes. Only the S2 set had any discs off the spindles. Disc 1 and Disc 7 were both off the spindle. No obvious scratches, but I think we know what I might be watching over the weekend to verify. After filling out the rebate info, the next step will be selling my existing S3 and S4 on craigslist.

does lost season 1 and 2 have two proofs of purchase like many disney movies do? Would it be possible to buy off amazon a copy of season 1 and 2, share the upc with someone else and send it in so both could get 40 back?

My season 1 case came cracked, do you think it would be possible to get a replacement? Seasons 1 and 2 also both had loose discs, but not worried since blu's don't scratch easy.

Based on my previous experience with Amazon they may ask you to send back the entire season set. But if you mention damage caused in shipping they usually rush a replacement. So getting it taken care of should be quick.

You will need to send all 5 sets back. I received mine on Friday and 2 of the 5 cases were broken in some way and Season 3 had two copies of disc 6 and was missing disc 1. I received my replacements today and some of those cases were broken as well so I mixed and matched the cases from the old order and new order to make a set of 5 good cases. The set that I have to send back is the saddest thing I have ever seen.

Thanks for the info- I didn't even think to check all the seasons to make sure all the discs were correct! I guess this shows how I've never bougth 5 seasons of a show at once before! :)

I just found my case for season one was destroyed in shipping. Opened it and parts fell off the case. Luckily the discs are okay, but I'm sending it back anyways.

i think this is the first time there has not been a sale for LOST before xmas usually TRU has a sale butnothing this year : (

was hoping to pick up season 5 around 20

Ummm... do you simply mean a sale for Lost BESIDES the Amazon DotD this thread is about? Because Season 5 on Blu Ray was $21.80 on this day.

Same here! I'll have to make a point to do this tonight!

Boy do I really regret not pulling the trigger on this deal, particularly after I find out about the MiR's. I could have sold my extra Season 3 BluRay and the Season 1 & 2 DVDs as well...

whatever cases are used for seasons 1-3 aren't all that great...

the super slim holders for disc 7 on both season 1 and 2 don't seem to work all that well... the disc will snap i place, but when i open the case the disc pops out...

on season 3, the parts that hold discs 2/3 and 4/5 come out REALLY easily...if i hold the case upside down they fall out

I'm kinda happy I didn't get this deal with all the trouble people are having with broken sets received. I am confident they will have similar deal next year when the entire series is released, and then I will get it and sell 1-3 on dvd.

Still though, I'm jealous of those who have it now :(
NE1 else having problems with being shipped broken cases?
Yeah, the case for season 1 and 3 were broken.

Got mine in a few days ago...everything looks good, except season 3 is missing the slip cover...I guess I'll live. Looks fantastic on my new TV.

Season 3 does NOT have a slip cover.

The discontinued slipcase S3 used to have wouldn't look right anyway even if they did have it. If I recall correctly, it was a rather thick cardboard, and would still make that season look out of place on the shelf next to the others. Best solution is to just toss the other slipcovers and display the seasons in just the standard cases.

Got mine today, and a couple cases had that last disc loose in the back.

Kinda pissed they don't have the same perforated tabs to tear off for the UPC that they do on the DVD sets. You have to cut it off the actual case insert if you want the rebates.

It's a different kind of slipcase. It didn't go over the top, it opens like a book with a velcro dot.

Something else I noticed about all the sets, those swinging disc holders pop out very easy. I don't think it would take much force to snap them. I wish they would have stuck with the same foldout design of the DVD sets. The DVD sets had extremely nice slipcovers too, like the kind games sometimes have, such as Lost Planet and Doom 3 on the old Xbox.

man, it kinda sucks that the proof of purchases are on the outside of the blu ray covers... i hate when they put them there... much better when they're part of the packaging on the inside so that it doesn't look so bad when it's missing

I remember reading about this and thinking to myself I need to make sure that my Season 3 set has everything. Wouldn't you know it, I looked tonight (even though I've had the set for at least one week) and realized that my Season 3 Collection is missing Disc 1 of 6.

It was mentioned that we need to mail the entire collection (in this case Seasons 1-5 on Bluray) back to Amazon in order to get the replacement. I however am only sending Season 3 due to the fact that it's the only Season of the 5 that I have an issue with (the rest are fine). I included this explanation in the reason I'm sending the collection back for a replacement. If they end up sending me all 5 boxsets, I'll just send Seasons 1, 2, 4, and 5 back without opening them. Season 3 will "hopefully" have everything in the replacement set.

I just checked my season 3 and started freaking when i saw that disk 1 was missng, then I noticed that it's behind the paper insert. And they must've made the cases for seasons 1 and 2 out of glass because mine were pretty shattered inside. at least the disks are fine.

That's the first thing I thought when I opened the set. It must be behind the paper insert. However, when I pulled them both out (one of the booklet and another was promoting other movies/tv shows), there was no disc to be found!

One thing I did notice about each set is that every individual blu-ray (I assume it's the same if you ordered the DVD collections too) has a number on it that correlates to what box set that disc is a part of (my number had 55944 or something like that on each one. The rest of the individual discs in each set match that number. In other words, for those people that ended up getting duplicate discs in one box set, I'm guessing one of them came from a set like mine that was missing that disc.

Update on my order. I received the entire set (Seasons 1-5 on Blu-ray) as replacement. Due to my telling Amazon that I was only going to send them back Season 3 (due to it missing Disc 1 from the set), I only pulled out Season 3 from the set, leaving Season 1,2, 4, and 5 unopened. When I opened Season 3, it did contain Disc 1 (behind the inserts).

It's odd to me why they would design a case that requires the first disc to be behind the insert? Had they designed the case like the other sets (with a swing case for Disc 1), this could have been avoided. I'm guessing a machine with a sensor couldn't place Disc 1 into the collection due to the insert already being in the box (it sensed that something was already there and didn't add it- I'm speculating that's why it happened to myself and others).

I'm sending the remaining 4 Seasons that I just received new back to them, and keeping my original 4 that I've had for a couple weeks now.

Wow after reading this I am extremely thankful that none of my cases were cracked and that all of my discs were actually inside.

You're fortunate. However, a show as good as this is makes it worth the effort. If it was anything less, or something I bought on a whim simply because it was a good value and not because I was a huge fan, I'd have said screw it and just asked for my money back. However, I'm more than happy to go through what I have in order to get one of the best shows ever, and definitely the best show in the last 4-5 years (The Wire and The Sopranos are just a couple others that immediately come to mind in this same category).

I'm just hoping that the UPS Store (who I'm returning the remaining unopened collections I received with my replacement Season 3) doesn't give me any grief about returning them.

Update- there was no "grief" at all. I went into my local, said I was returning the item and had the label on the box, and it was no more than "Thank you"! ;)

If only everything could be so easy!
