only problem with that is if ithe store has it in stock or not. around here ive only seen 2 of each at the most at each store.
I'm just going to wait to see if the used resistance 3 copys drop in price. If not then ill get it at the last minute. Im kinda surprised that others aren't doing the same. I remember gears 3 dropping in price by a few bucks when the jan/feb coupons were out so I have nothing to loose by waiting
Nobody in my area has been touching them up to this point. I was however thinking about using my rewardzone points to get a 10$ off coupon and use it on resistance 3. That would bring it down to 3$ or so after the card and coupons are used

u could just get it now and if the price goes down get a price adjustment. its usually not a problem.

Oh Wow I forgot about that, Thanks for reminding me bud ! I'll go get a copy tommorow :)

Already picked up Homefront and Resistance, but debating whether to use the coupon to make Uncharted 3 $25 or Resident Evil: Revelations $25. The fact that it's pretty tough to find the latter in-store might make my decision for me.

I'd probably go with Revelations since Uncharted 3 requires a online pass.

Thanks for the tip, didn't know that.

OK. My local BB stores are batting 1000 on this month's coupons. Both stores had ample copies of :ps3:Homefront 2-3 weeks ago. Now NEITHER has ANY copies. Not to mention one of the stores already sold out of their four copies of :ps3:Skyrim and the closest one had 1-2 left as of today. It's either that game(or taking it back from my one buddy who's currently borrowing it long term from me) or Uncharted 3, which I should finally play through, as my $10 off $29.99 or higher coupon game.

Eh. I'll probably wait and see if either Uncharted 3 or Skyrim drop at all before month's end and definitely wait on Resistance 3, since I'm likely only gonna give that to my one buddy to play through.

As for Homefront I think it'd be hilarious if I did a store to store order for that for all of $2 after tax n coupon/discounts.

Also apparently someone is being lazy at the magazine publisher since they used the same games on the $10 off whatever coupon back in January(apparently I still had that one floating around the house someplace:lol:) as they did for this month's coupon. Not the same barcode or SKU though, believe me I checked.;)

hold off on uncharted 3. new msrp is 39.99 so used price should go down as well.

That's what I'm hoping for. Actually I'm hoping for a one day sale at $29.99, so I can get the game for $19.99. I kept the manual(w/ the online code:razz:) from my own copy from launch that I got for around $35-40 shipped w/ release day delivery for $1 with an Amazon promo code when I traded it into BB, so if I wanna play a lil online mp on UC3 then I'm good to go.;)

Going to check a couple of Best Buy stores in MN this weekend for Homefront. Not even that interested in it, but if I can buy a game for less than the price to rent it, why not?

thats exactly what i said. my store had tons of homefront. i dont think homefront did too well overall.

oh well i expect this game will be gone from best buy in a week or two.

Picked up Homefront and Resistance 3. Gonna do myself a favor and put set some time aside to play em.

I was rip-raring to go, popped in Homefront, and saw that it had to update first.:bomb: Completely forgot that most PS3 games HAVE to be updated before you can actually play them.

Homefront was fun but prepare to beat it in under 4 hours (unless you really suck at first person shooters). The game had its little moments and for under 2$ you will get more than your moneys worth

I fixed that statement for you.;) It seems like some games are patched and tweaked and re-patched and re-tweaked every couple of months. What sucks is unless you Google some of these patches and find out if they're for the single or multiplayer, you may be downloading a file that does nothing for the mode you most want to play.

Case in point: When I still owned Battlefield 3, I went to play it the one night and there was a 600-700mb patch. I searched it and most of the patch was for frickin' multiplayer, which I had NO INTEREST in playing.

So anymore when a patch pops up when I start a game, I check to see what it's adding/fixing before I even waste my time downloading it. To me, the time I spend download these patches is time I could be gaming if these companies would release non broken games in the first place.

Xbox 360 games take seconds to update. PS3 games take forever and the interface for it is abysmally clunky.
Xbox 360 games take seconds to update. PS3 games take forever and the interface for it is abysmally clunky.
this. xbox patches are rarely over 10 MB and usually 2 MB at the most. ps3 patch which could do the exact same thing averages 500 or more MB.

and ps3 system updates are far more common and far larger.

in short nearly all games have an update. and the ps3 updates take about 30 minutes compared to 3 seconds.
I'm in the same boat as you. Subscribed for about a year now and my magazine is nowhere in sight.
I walked in and asked if I could just use a coupon from one of the instore mags. The guy asked for proof I was unlocked, which I gave him and he just did it no problem. Slight YMMV, but you shouldn't have too much of a hassle considering these aren't amazing deals.

I have crap internet service so I always dread having to update games or having to do system updates. Usually the updates are of no use to me. Just recently I was wanting to play Battlefield Bad Company 2 on my PC, so I launched steam, started up the game and it informed me it had to update first and the file was 1-2gb. From the looks of it, it was a multi-player update (I generally never play games online, so I was annoyed to say the least). At least steam allows you to go edit whether or not you want a game updated.
Xbox 360 games take seconds to update. PS3 games take forever and the interface for it is abysmally clunky.
I can't remember exactly how the Xbox 360 update system worked since it's been so long since I've had one, but from what I remember as you said it wasn't anything compared to the PS3. The first day I bought a PS3 and was all excited to play it, I popped the game in, and was told that it needed to update the game first. I was like "WTF is this?" I'd never had to do that on Xbox 360 and that's one of the things I've come to hate about the PS3 the most... that and almost every fucking game is 720p native resolution.

@ maxiell

I got 3 unused Uncharted 3 Online Passes and if you get the game ill gladly give you one in the event you get a used one. No big deal to me.
Hey,
Don't know how open the offer is, but I just got the game at a garage sale sans the online pass and would really love to have it. Thanks either way.

On a side note I was just looking at my receipt, and it looks like it took the 10% GCU discount off Homefront... but not Resistance 3 (both games were on the same receipt). Granted that's only $3.50, but I'm just curious why it wouldn't have taking the 10% off both games? The only reason I bought RE3 in the first place was because I thought I was going to get it for $11.50 before taxes.

I was wondering why the hell people were complaining. I have a 360 and the patches take literally seconds to dl/install.

Was also shocked when I had to start waiting 10 minutes to install parts of the PS3 games to the hdd just to play them smh.

It only has to be updated if you wanna play online. You can bypass the update if you're impatient and only going for single player
Picked up Homefront and Resistance 3. Gonna do myself a favor and put set some time aside to play em.
The card always works for me. I wondering why people are having problems with it ?
the 10% i assume?

apparently according to this thread and best buy forums you must scan game, scan coupon, THEN scan the card or else it wont take the 10% and for some odd reason will only do it for one game. or else since best buy employees lack brain cells they will all start citing cant stack with other sales and offers.

i have that 29.99 10 dollar off coupon im going to test that theory on. admittely ill have to lie to make it go smoother and say im looking for the card even though i never got a best buy card i only use my phone number since they all ask for it first.

i dont except all employees to know all the rules but the customer service people(one of the 4 there) should know the rules.

my local BBY only has preowned homefront for 360. Sheesh! and the only available Resistance 3 game had a generic case. I guess i'll just wait for next week's shipment to see if they get more in. This month's coupons is a let down so far for me.

You guys are nuts. The 360 has something that pops up when there's an update. The PS3 has something that pops up when there's an update. All you do is hit X or A, depending on the system you're on, it takes a few seconds to download, and you're good to go. Literally the exact same process.

Unless you're talking about system updates, which is a completely different discussion.

Some PS3 updates are a lot larger than those on 360. Also, if there has been more than one update, you must download all of them before you continue playing (at least while connected to the network). I think the last SFXT update was 20MB on PS3 while it was 2MB on 360.

more like 99% of updates are 5x or bigger on the ps3 and do the exact same thing.

PS+ mitigates a lot of issues downloading patches overnight but yeah when it comes to a game i havent played recently and/or insert into my PS3 for the first time the patches take way too long.

Damn. Tried to boot up my copy of Homefront today and apparently the disk didn't work. Anyone know if BB will do exchanges? Or how they will handle this?

lol, wait til you uninstall resistance 3. i have no idea why but i heard it took over an hour for some people. i was like, no way, and deleted my resistance 3 game data and it took over 45 minutes to delete. crazy world. i like my ps3 tho ;)

also yeah known issue 10% off gcu doesnt work if two games are purchased at the same time. i got burned out of $4 last month when i bought 2 dead islands at the same time. oh well, live and learn. i know people posted it here, but i get dumb sometimes and forget stuff i read while im in store.

n bestbuy won't give you a refund but will let you exchange for the same game if they have it there in stock. happened to me before.

Yeah, I should have prefaced my question with the fact that my store doesn't have any more copies.

It would be cool of they could just gave you a new sealed copy. Its not like they are going to sell them anytime soon (unless they clearance them for 5$ like those deals from last fall).

In that case, I believe they give you a refund for defective. The only other option is to see if they can order you a replacement through OMS, but I am not sure if they have that option if an item is defective. (I have never worked at BB, so maybe an employee can shed some light on the issue.)
That's my exact situation too. I have the crappiest, slowest DSL you can buy, but that's by choice since I don't feel like paying more than $20 a month for internet access. So if there's an update for a game or the system I'll just switch to tv mode and watch something till that's done.

What bugs me most is that 9 times outta 10 the updates for the PS3 are fluff/crap and don't add anything to my gaming experience. That's why I hate when they say there's an update coming, since that's gaming time I'm never going to get back due to having to download/install the update. The only way to circumvent that is stay off PSN, but I do still play some games online with other people. So it's an unfortunate necessary evil.
If you have Plus, all the updates have already been downloaded for you the next time you turn on your PS3.
which i have found to be really helpful. you can even choose the times in which you want the downloads and syncs to happen. it's been nice especially with how many patches that Call of Duty MW3 gets.
