*DEAD* Circuit City mistake - 5 dollar games!! (YMMV)

yeah, you just need to get lucky, and the cashier is key, try a couple games first, if it's a go make sure to ask that very same cashier if you can go back and get some more, get your games and bring them to the same cashier and see if it works, it's in the system, so all they have to do is scan it and hit the promo button, it helps to have the add there from their circular for the 2 for $35 deal, cus' when they input the code for that it will come up $10 and then you will be good to go...Good Luck everyone...

Thanks to Nephets for confirming that this does work on GBA games as well. I suspected it would, but I was really only after the four games that I picked up so I didn't try it. The only way this could be better would be if it was another $5 clearance sale instead of a glitch.

I saw a few other classic games for 5 I wouldn't have minded picking up, but, I really only wanted Metroid, left the rest for others.

I wonder when people are going to catch on? I don't expect this deal to last much longer.

Just a note for those in Eugene Oregon, the CC here knows about the error and manually fixed the price when I went to ring up, so the deal is dead at the Springfield Mall location.

At my CC, an employee that was ringing up my cousin's order manually fixed it, but the guy I had was nice and let me have them at the 4.99 price, then my cousin went over to him and he got the discounts too. :D

It's really a YMMV case, it's all up to the employees and how nice they are really.
 
It's over. We have been e-mailed to immediately stop selling 2 for $10. My manager is even demanding I return the 12 games I bought since they were purchased on "store time". AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! If you can get someone to still do it for you, good for you. Otherwise, the nail is in the coffin. Allegedly, corporate is fixng the glitch and downloading it tonight. Sucks for us.

Yeah, the problem with the CC here is it's a small town, so the only register open during the day is the customer service desk, at which a mangaer is always right next to the cashier, so there is only one register to go to, right next to a manager. She knew instantly when I brought them up and even told me The Suffering which is not a PH didn't qualify for the 2 for $30 deal. It's cool though, I wasn't even going to try as I have enough games, but I just couldn't resist in case it might have worked.

Damn this workplace! I'm still trying it anyway. The CC in Dedham is usually so behind it's laughable so I still might have a shot.
 
He knows I buy a lot of games so I didn't try to argue it. He just needs to remember this the next time he asks me to stay late. "Sorry, but that's MY time."

Screw that. Once you purchase them, you own them. That would be like CC calling you at home and demanding you return an item you bought earlier in the day because they discovered a pricing error later on.

Yes, they can do this. I've seen them do it, first hand.

CC, after the $5 sale in July, really cracked down on their reps buying stuff on store hours. Even worse for putting stuff off the floor so they can buy it when they're not on the clock.

They could also write him up for it, as well, from what a couple CC reps in my neck of the woods have told me.
 
I went to check out Circuit City for this sweet deal around 1 PM today. Picked up Castlevania LOI and Sly Cooper GH to make sure I would get them for $5 each. Cashier rung them up, both $5 each and he didn't notice anything about the price!

Decided to go back and look for 2 more games to get, found Soul Calibur 2 Non PC for Gamecube and Gran Turismo 3 GH, went to the same cashier. This time he got a little confused about the price and tried to manually adjust it to the advertised price. People behind me were getting impatient at him and eventually he let me get them for $5 a piece too!

Damnit...i guess i wasnt lucky enough....i went in there to get nfl street and nfsu, but they both rang up as 19.99 each...not even the 2 for $30 deal!! then later i remembered they werent "actually" greatest hits, with teh red label on top...so i was going to get on here and you guys about it, but it looks like i'm too late.....hmm...i might still go try again. oh, and if anyone wants to sell nfsu, i'd appreaciate it.
