*Dead* Disgaea $35 new

Looks like they will be able to get more copies. I for one am completely puzzled to why this game is hard to find now. There were two printings of the game, it's probably hard to get because major retailers don't stock the game anymore. Does publisher sell the game through their retail outlet?

Wow... I ordered mine and they took payment (no refund yet), but I haven't gotten any email about it. I passed this game up when Fry's had it for $50 - just couldn't get myself to pay that much for ONE game. When I saw it for $35 here I jumped - that is pretty much my *exact* threshold for a new game... $40 (or $50!) too much, $35 great!

Sweet, I ordered on the 16th and they said they had sold out of their first shipment, but said they were getting more in soon. I hope they get that other 'shipment' in soon. *ponders*

Glad you got it. Let's hope the rest do.
Is it just me or did they pull it from the site?
It's just you... only your browser has been banned from seeing it there :D...

No, seriously, it has been gone since not too long after the deal was posted here a few days ago. But it sounds like they are trying to get more so it might pop back up again - just keep checking.

I was one of the first to order (1am EST on the 16th) and haven't gotten an email yet. They've taken payment though, so here's hoping mine will ship.

Edit: Mine came today. I never received a shipping confirmation email, but the game came, so that's fine with me.

Yeah, I got some random goodies in the bag. There was a raffle ticket that I'm supposed to keep and use on their website later.

There was a "miracle fish" fortune telling thing: it's thin, red, translucent plastic (like the kind used in cheap 3D glasses) in the shape of a fish that curls when you hold it in your hand; based on how it curls, there's a corresponding mood on the chart included with it. Mine said I was in love, which is accurate considering I'm getting married in 18 days.

The last two things were one of those rubber, dome-shaped things that pop up in the air after you bend them inside-out and set them down, and one of those sponges in a capsule that expand when you add water to them (it grows into a dragonfly-shaped sponge).

That's some really random stuff, but it's a pretty cool idea. It's good marketing, I guess, because the goodies are inexpensive, but really unique, and helps you to remember where you ordered the merchandise.

Anyhow, I hope I got in the que fast enough to get a copy... and if the guy who tried to order ten copies is a CAG, shame on you. Good luck to all who put orders in, I'm crossing my fingers with you!
Hopefully whoever tried to get 10 doesn't get a single one. It's almost a certainty that that person is a "member" of CAG. It wouldn't be too hard to imagine who it could be either, not many CAGs are known to own a store, though it could be someone wanting them for eBay.

Luckily, I got this game through a trade several months ago. $35 for a new copy is definitely a good deal.

Yeah, I hope everyone that wants to play it gets it.

Yes. I better get mine soon. Imma get La Pucelle and Phantom Brave sealed then sell them on ebay. And I will just borrow my freinds copy of Disgaea.

There are a ton of CAG's who do nothing but lurk... it could easily be one of the thousands of them.

I'm assuming you can get these cheap somewhere? Care to share deals with others?

Ebgames.com has Phantom Brave new for $19.99.
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/245108.asp

I got the special edition with the soundtrack CD for that price too about a month ago, but now they seem to be out. I was able to pick up a copy of La Pucelle used for $20 locally.

No I cant its just that I could buy PB and La Pucelle for $20 each sealed on ebay then sell them on ebay for around $125 with the Disgaea.

I wish my local store had those games cheap.

I've seen La Pucelle for $19.99 at both Fry's and Gamestop. I think Fry's has Phantom Brave as well, but not sure for how much.

So here's a question - I will be getting Disgaea from this deal (thanks OP!) - got an email yesterday (for some reason mine is taking longer but I don't care as long as I get it in June some time!). I also just bought La Pucelle. I know Disgaea came out first in the US, but I think I've heard it is a more advanced game than La Pucelle (and may have come out later in Japan?). So should I play La Pucelle first? Where does Phantom Brave (which I don't have) fit in?

This is the order they originally came out in Japan: La Pucelle Tactics, Disgaea, Phantom Brave (over here, it was Disgaea, La Pucelle, Phantom Brave). Each one is more advanced and has more features than the previous. From what I understand, some people were disappointed with La Pucelle after playing Disgaea because it was simpler and lacked some of the features of Disgaea (a result of its earlier release in Japan). Phantom Brave, because it's the newest one, is more advanced features than La Pucelle and Disgaea and has new features they don't. That's not to say that's it better, though; from what I've read, most people prefer Disgaea out of the three because it has the best storyline. As for me, whenever I get around to getting a PS2, I'm planning on playing La Pucelle Tactics first, then Disgaea, then Phantom Brave.

Thanks for the info! I read some reviews of Phantom Brave that put it down in comparison to the other two, which is why I haven't bought it yet. I'll probably just hold off on that, play La Pucelle and then Disgaea, and if I'm not sick of the genre by then, try to find Phantom Brave. WHEN I start doing this, though, is another question - hopefully by the end of this year :D.

I see. I knew PB and LP were $20 pretty much everywhere but didn't think they would sell more than that on Ebay. So if you ebay all 3 at once people are paying that?

Ebayers can just be plain stupid sometimes.

They aren't paying that. The bundles are ending on eBay for around 100 bucks. There is one instance where a single seller got 170 for a bundle, but his high bidder only had 1 feedback. You can then see that a current bundle that is out there for 117.00 is from the same seller, with the same photo, etc. More than likely the bundle for 170 was not paid for and the seller relisted. All of the ended auctions went in the 90-115.00 range. There is a current auction (the one I mentioned above) on eBay that is up to 117 and if you look at it's bid history, it's a bunch of newb's battling back and forth. A guy with 0 feedback placed 11 bids and was currently outbid by someone with 1 feedback.

If there were more instances of the games selling for 125 a bundle then it would be safe to say that people are paying that...but they simply aren't.

35 for disgaea, 20 for lpt, 20 for pb = 75 bucks + tax.
eBay fees (listing, reserve, fvf) = about 5 bucks if it ends at 100
So you spend 80 bucks and you MIGHT sell the bundle for 100. Not worth it to make 20 bucks IMO.

Not is not correct. Looking at current auctions they are selling for $120+ and its not over yet. IF u look at ended auctions I only saw one and it sold for $170. So ur calculations are wrong I look at ebay everyday so I should know the average prices. But to get those prices u will need good pics.

Wow...this game is really that RARE? I've seen them all over the place around here (Bay Area, CA) I've been waiting for a price drop/sale or something...but I guess I should just suck it up & pay full price before I can't get it anymore. doh!

Everyone claims that Frys has lots of copies. Mine came in the mail Thursday

In case there's anyone still waiting for their copy from this site - I emailed the guy and asked if he had shipped it (worried it got lost or something), and he said he just got more in from his supplier and was sending mine out soon. So those of us who got in late will get the "second wave" of shipments.

Ditto! I'm excited :)

I also assume if they haven't sold them all they will put it back up on their website, unless they got the exact amount needed to ship.

An update - no sooner than I posted this I called home (I am across the country now in that vast barren wasteland of Wash DC), and my wife says she thinks the game came today. She didn't open it, but said it was a DVD-sized object in an envelope and came from "some wierd place from California". I haven't ordered anything else, so I'm assuming that's it :D

Thanks a lot I received mine today. They onl shipped it Firstclass those dummies and they wanted $5 for shipping. Damn people. No matter I got Disgaea sealed for cheaper so I should stop complaining.

Got mine today along with a fortune teller fish and a raffle ticket! Woo hoo! Thanks so much OP and tsunamibomb!
