NO, ITS NOT TRUE. The deal still works and will continue to work unless they end it early on the 18th. If it doesn't work for you, it's due to an EMPLOYEE, not thte fact the deal changed. You can either listen to the employee and the deal is dead, od print out the terms of the deal and fight for it. It's that simple.

I was denied when trading in jampacks today at various EB's...One manager had to manually input the extra 10. At another store, some employee told me that they were taken out of the system as of last night, which makes sense since I traded in Jampacks during the previous week at the same EB's without a hitch. So, it wouldn't surprise me if they started to exclude Exhibition discs as well seeing that they are now excluding certain Jampacks.

Edit: I realize you are talking about the Exhibition discs, I'm just pointing out that it may not be an employee error anymore if something does not ring up correctly...Sorry if I worded my first response poorly.

OK, so do we have ANY confirmation of the promo ending early (on the 18th)? I traded in a few today and the manager said it goes to the end of the month. It seems like if it came down from corporate to end it in 2 days that he would know about it, but perhaps not. Also, the web site still shows it going until Feb. 27th.

Does anyone know what NBA Street Vol. 3 fetches? I got it from Gamerush for the trade-in 3/preorder for $30 deal, so I paid about $10 cash after my trades. If it gets $35 or $40 with the bonus I might just trade it in to EB and pick it up again in several months when it's a PC title. I know it would get $35 at Gamerush anyway.

Edit - just realized that NBA Street Vol. 3 might not even qualify for the bonus because it is a sports title even though it is brand new - or does it because it isn't a 200X-type game?
 
I gotta confirm the no more jampacks thing... At the Owings Mills Mall ebgames the guys love me there and took in about 7 jampacks so far... but today I came in and they said it's no longer in the system. Tried it at 2 other ebgames.. no go.. FOR NOW ON, SPORTS TITLES AND JAMPACKS ARE EXCLUDED!.

It really sounds like EB is starting to exclude some of the non sports games as well then since Zapper and Sea Blade didn't work and it was posted in the TRU thread that Mojo is now excluded as well. I am kind of worried everything I try to trade in tomorrow won't get the $5 bonus.

I understand them blocking Jampacks but they shouldn't be excluding full games that are non sports.

I traded in Mojo (Xbox) today (Weds). Not only is it still allowed for the $5 bonus, it is still a "PO" game so it counts for their more restictive trade-in deals as well. I traded 2 Mojo's and 2 other different games. He informed me that 2 "qualified" for the deal and 2 didn't, so I was about to ask for the 2 that didn't back (I assumed at first he meant the 2 Mojo's). It turns out he was talking about the "PO" vs "POX" games, and it was actually the 2 Mojo's that "qualified". Regardless, I got the $5 bonus for all 4, so it didn't matter.

Don't trade them in to eb.. they'll only give you 25 cents a peice. See if gamestop will take them, if not, try gamecrazy.

The only way to get lucky on this is to have the manager input the price manually. See GameStop has a similar promotion, except it's trade in 3 titles get $10 extra. I don't know if jampacks count... GameCrazy also has $10 bonus credit for 2... again, not sure if jampacks count. I don't know what I'm gonna do with mine to tell you the truth, but I have 2 more PStwo's to put on ebay, I guess I'll just throw in the jampacks and maybe get an extra page visit or 2 on my auction. :\
 
The Edge card I got today seems to be an old one, because it has light scratches and faded colors. Should I worry about putting credit on it? Could the person who had it before me use the serial number to buy stuff? (I made sure to keep my receipts when I trade stuff in, but I don't know if that's proof enough.)
 
I remember reading in one of the threads that somebody tried to trade in Cabela's Dangerous Hunts at EB and the computer rung it up as negative store credit (-$4.70). When I traded it in, I actually got $5! Combined with the current EB promo, the total was $10 store credit.

Running in parallel with the TRU deal, that's one of biggest return on investment besides the Jampacks/Exhibiton demos and that Mary-Kate and Ashley game. I only found 2 copies of Cabela's Dangerous Hunts at $2 though. Anybody have the same luck with this game?

Also, I had a question for you guys. I have 4 different Edge Cards from trading in games (spread out at 4 different EB locations). Is it possible to consolidate the store credit from these 4 cards into 1 card? I wanted the option of purchasing online too. I'm getting mixed messages from EB. The people at the stores said I can use the Edge cards online but when I emailed EB, they said I can't purchase online.

Any recommendations with what to do with my 4 Edge cards? Thanks.
 
Great.. all of U got to go abuse the system... and ruined the deal for the casual gamer...

Well I saw a kid goin into eb today and try to trade in 20 copys of Primal & like 10 copys of jam packs. it was alot cause he went to his car twice to reload.

the employee went to ask his manager if he could do it? the manager came out and turned him away.
and both titled didn't go in the system for the $10 bonus.

I couldn't help but laughing... I felt sorry for him & helped him carry a stack of games to his car.

I asked where he got the games. he said he got them from an online store.. I doubted him, but I offer him $2 for primal. and he took it. yea i knoe this is $1.50 but you cags memeber hoarded them all away.

Yea i know this game sucks.. But for $2 it's worth playing alittle.
 
If your edge card has a pin number that you have to scratch off to reveal, you can use it online. If it has no pin number, you can check the balance online, but cant use it make online purchases.

You can put all of your edge cards on one card...just have an EB clerk do it. Another option is to take all of them and buy a gift card with the total amount which can then be used online. Like above...just make sure it has a scratchable area which reveals a PIN # to be used online.

You also could have given the clerk the same edge card at all the different EBs in case you didn't know.
 
On Mojo, I was able to trade in both the Xbox and PS2 versions at one of my EBs yesterday night (5ish). So it may be a YMMV thing. I have one more Mojo to turn into another EB. I'll report back if I have any trouble. Been easy so far but I haven't had the nerve to turn in doubles during the same visit.

I think Gamestop's promotion is 3 titles get an extra 30%, not $10.

Got the extra $20. It seems as those most of these situations are YMMV. As for the jampacks I don't know as I don't have anymore to trade in.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know I could put everything onto one card. I guess I'd better get the card with the pin on it so I can at least have the option of purchasing online.

Hoarding isn't right but people get greedy sometimes thinking they can turn a profit. I tried to limit what I get unless TRU was stacked with excess inventory. For example, one store had 60+ Mario Kart: Double Dash strategy guides (not with green tag BTW) that scanned in at 1-penny, I picked up 8 to look at all the purdy pictures.

I picked up 2 copies each of all the 90% games on the 1st day of the sale, as to leave the remaining copies for my fellow CAG or the casual gamer on a limited budget. But another store I go to, almost nothing is green tagged and a week later, most of the games were still there untouched. So I went back and bought a couple more copies yesterday.

I usually keep one for myself, give away one or two to my friends and then sell any extra ones to EB... but I try to be smart about it and only sell one copy per a location at a time and spread it out to different stores (and I do it on different days). I don't understand how those people trying to trade in a mountain full of Primal (like in 20 copy quantities) at one time expect to get away with it.
 
Bad news this morning from my EB.

The original Maximo wouldn't take on the extra $5. Mojo Xbox is still good for the 2/$10 deal, but it's POX now too, as ts Jampack V10 apparently (I have a sneaking suspicion that the clerk may have been jerking me around on that one, but since Mojo turned POX overnight, it's possible).

The good news is that V11 and the Summer 2003 M-rated Jampack are still both PO. For some reason Black and Bruised PS2 also came up as PO, even though it's on the online exclusion list.

Primal isn't really bad at all. The story and characters are interesting enough, and the art direction is kind of neat. The only real problem is that the fighting is kind of limited, but that certainly doesn't make it a bad game, especially at a bargain basement price of $2 new.
 
Primal was okay. It was very linear, the combat was weak, very little interactivity (why can you only crawl up specific walls??)

Anyone know how much credit Mary Kate and Ashley is getting before the extra $5?
 
JamPacks denied at my location as well. They went through yesterday, but today was a different story. I'd already gotten rid of all my duplicates anyway and was having misgivings about getting rid of my remaining singles, so I guess I'll keep them instead of taking a lousy 25 cent trade-in.
 
Just got back from my TRU and the nearby EB. Mojo was ok but it was down to 0.25 from 0.50 yesterday. No big, the 2/$10 still applied.

Today was the first day I bought duplicates in one TRU purchase (two of each Mojo, Primal). My other purchases have always been one of each title at a time. It's like fishing limits, there's a reason so that everyone should have a good chance at the catch.

On Monday, a small horde of horders (hehe) came right after I got my single title purchases and clearned the green tag table. They must have had 15 Primals, 10 Mojos and a stack of another, forgot that title. Those are the guys which I/we have issues with.

I think I'm done after my last trade group (four left). It also helps me not get stuck if the promo does end tomorrow.
 
Is this deal still going on, or did the TRU hoarders kill it already?? I was going to go legit and trade in Halo 2 and Paper Mario 2 tomorrow for something new and I'll be pissed if it ended because of this...
 
yeah, the guy at EB told me the deal will end on the 28th. but with some changes to the trade in list, its half dead already. oh well, i got enough for a psp. thank you CAG!

P.S. The guys at EB need a quota of psp preorders. since i know i wont need some of the credit so I am preordering 2 psps and just getting my $ back after they launch. I already have my first preorder paid in full at another eb, but i though it would be nice since these guys were nice to me. if you had nice people help you out at eb, use $20 of misc. credit to preorder a psp. you can get it back after it launches. its like a store credit bank! (uhh...banks have interest and free toasters, though)
 
I traded a jampak (#10) in just now, no problem. I did savages skies, jsrf, turok, and jampack and got $21.50 in credit. they didn't even bat an eye at the jampack!

Also scored a near-mint Suikoden I (no manual) for $35! nice!

shouldn't you leave that extra pre-order spot for someone who actually wants that PSP? because i don't think they're having any trouble selling PSPs. it's still a month before its release and every EB in my area has their orders filled through at least the second shipment.
 
My exhibition disc was rejected, but the guy just punched the $5.00 in. I was grateful, but I haven't traded that much junk in....so I was due.

my reservation was already for 2nd shipment. anyway, when i pull my reservation on the 24th, the next person moves up a notch. still, its all atleast a week before their system comes in. no one will be missing a psp because of me. actually, one person will get on 2nd shipment rather than third. i am making someone's day (a month from now). i made sure i wasnt bumping someone from first shipment. the only thing my actions create is someone getting it earlier and a good, CAG-friendly employee gets "the man" off their back, if only briefly.
 
Does anyone know if the spiderman 2 UMD will be included on the second shipment from EBgames?

They told me they expect mine to come in end March and they didn't know if it included the Spiderman 2 movie.

you guys do realize that many people will get ripped off by this right?

Say if I take 2 games to them that I would receive 10 dollars each for if this promo wasn't going on.With this promo, you only get the "extra" 10 dollars from the two games combined, thus Eb ripping you off by 10 dollars worth of credit.

Strangely nobody has thought of this and won't bother to think about how much their games are actually worth used. :roll:


now if you're smart and you acknowledge how the deal works, then you can utilize it to your advantage by trading in 2 games worth less than 5 dollars trade in each.

EB marketing managers will find ways to completely rip off customers at every turn, while making them think that they are scoring a sweet deal.While it may benefit some, it usually swindles easy money from unsuspecting consumers :roll:
