This is the EXACT TEXT from the 6/1 memo that was sent to me;

"@Gamer Coupon Now Good on Sale Items

You asked for it and got it. Now there is even more value for our gaming customers that purchase @gamer magazine. Magazine coupons, effective June 1, are now good on sale prices. Coupons will still state that offers are NOT valid on sale prices so make sure your customers know that they can get value top of value!"

This seems super YMMV which I'm sure everyone here already knows. Went to my local Best Buy in Leominster MA today. Saw that they had Ico/SOTC on the shelf for $24.99 (at least like 5 copies) and I had the coupon on me so I gave it a shot. The coupon did not ring up correctly, but luckily I had a really good CSR (thanks Nick) who ran all over the place to check the status of the coup, then he checked online when I told him there should be a memo from June 1st saying the coupon should work with sale items (he didnt find the memo but he said he found a forum online that was close enough) and then got a manager's override for me when he still couldnt get the coupon to work. I also used a $10 reward cert on it so I got it for $5.30 after MA sales tax. About to do my first customer service survey cause the guy actually tried to help me save money.

On a funny side note... while I was leaving the store and they guy checked my receipt I heard him talking to another employee about the absurdity of trading in a game for $12 because "all you could get is a used copy of madden 09" while he was checking my receipt of Ico/SOTC for $5.30

So as a current non-subscriber to @Gamer Mag, is it possible for me to obtain a coupon fast enough to use on ICO/SotC and/or GoW: Origins sale this week? What's the best way to go about this?

Reading through the thread, it's sounding like the coupon isn't ringing up without an override so pretty YMMV or have a lot of people had success?

You can buy the mag in store for $5, but its only worth it if you can get the cashier/ manager to do an override. I seem to find this to be more successful when doing it in the gaming section and not the regular checkouts, and had success today after directing the CSR to look for a memo from june 1st regarding the coupon policy

also the cashier had a hard time getting this to work when ICO/SOTC was marked $24.99 in store, I cant imagine what a headache it'd be to try and make it happen with GOW:Origins which was marked as $39.99 in my store I believe (def not $24.99 like ICO)

Went back in tonight to try again on the ICO/SOTC collection. This time I brought in a print off of a page from the BB community forum dealing with this issue. I went to the game department and talked to a guy about it. He seemed unsure on it, but said he should be able to get a manual override from the floor supervisor. The guy came over and authorized the $10 off and that was that. It still really doesn't address the bigger problem of their system not automatically deducting the amount of the coupon off the total like it previously did. Hopefully it will get sorted out before the next coupon I want to use, because it's really just a huge hassle and hit or miss on getting the discount applied.

I guess its not common, but a while back I used a coupon from this magazine someone scanned in and had posted on either here or slick deals... not sure but I printed it (it was a scna of the whole page, front and back) and BB took it with no questions asked. wish I had a scan of the GoW coupon.

Please leave the thread. All you're doing is being negative to people. I just don't get this community anymore?!
So you are jonesin' for the coupon so you can pay $5 more than sale price? lol
Dude, don't you dare try and tell me where I can post. That's because the coupon isn't set up in the BB system to work on sale prices. It doesn't work! You have to get lucky and get a manual override. Otherwise using the coupon results in you paying $5 more than the current sale price. If you don't like me pointing that out, then that's your problem.

+1 to this. It is just getting annoying at this point. At least we have an ignore function :)

My first attempt was at the gaming department/desk and got denied. Second attempt was with the manager at the customer service desk, which was successful after he looked it up on the forum. I'd recommend going straight to the manager, but I honestly think it's luck of the draw, doesn't matter what you do.. but I would recommend bringing a printout of the forum post or at the very least try to get them to look it up on their forum. You're either going to get an employee that wants to understand where you're coming from and will give you a chance to explain how the policy was changed (with some sort of proof of course), or you'll get someone that follows what they THINK are their policies and will ignore you instantly.

The point here of this thread is "How do we get ICO for $15, etc.?" So if you don't have an answer for that, stfu.

High-larious!

So would you guys recommend to your friends to subscribe to the magazine? The coupons come inside of it from what I understand. And it's $15/year? Have you doubled your money at all?

After seeing all the negative feedback from this and the recent trade in deal I am glad both stores in my area have been nothing but helpful and all promotions were gotten without a hitch.

I definitely would recommend the mag sub for anyone who takes advantage of trading in games at BB. For anyone only interested in getting deals using the coupons not so much. For anyone interested in the articles and game ratings not at all.

Does anyone actually read the articles and game ratings? lol maybe Best Buy would be better off just printing out coupons and charging for them instead of an entire magazine.. I bet people wouldn't care.

My wife went in on the first day and purchased ico and uncharted. the cashier couldnt get it to scan and she was denied the 10 off. They were sold out of GOW origins.

I went in 2 days later and found a copy of origins and had them scan it in gaming department. She looked up the website price and saw backordered, and questioned if they could match the price since it was sold out online. I waited and of course they could, I wasnt even going to go for the coupon, but she looked at the gamer book and saw 10 off regular price and commented to me thats too bad. I looked at her and said well actually you are suppose to since June 1st. I explained and she then went and searched along side a manager on the memo and after 5 minutes she said there you go. Its right there.

So I bought the supscription and got my 15 dollar origins.

I went back the next day with the ico gane and of course the manager and employee wasnt there so I had to go through the same thing again with CS. After 10 minutes I was able to get the 10 dollars back for my 15 dollar copy of Ico. So it can be had, its just a pain in the ass. I would love a copy of the memo just to take in each time, but that would make it to easy.

Success... well, the kind most are having anyway :p Brought magazine and Ico up to the front, had a 10 minute battle explaining that the forum post I was referring to was not a "blog" and that there is an internal memo that they can referrence. Called over gamer employee guy, who kept saying it was "double dipping", and that there wasn't anything they can do, it's policy - to which I asked if the memo was policy? Dude didn't know what I was talking about. I explained this thing like 3 times before I left.

Haven't had one of these deals in a long time (I've kind of cooled off on deal-hunting) - felt good to back in the game.

Today was the second time I tried to get Ico/SOTC for $15 and I finally got it. The gaming manager claimed that he got an Email today from corporate that the coupons are suppose to stack. The other managers had no idea about this so if you go to BB, try to locate the gaming manager. He was also able to override the system. He did mention that they were trying to fix this "glitch" and should be fixed as early as tomorrow.

I will recommend the mag just for the coupons. Even though this particular instance is a pain in the A, I've got about 5-10 games over the last few months with $10-20 off (sometimes off sale prices) which is just fine by me. :)

Also I started reading some of the articles and captions in this latest magazine ... hmm, I think children write those.

Were you one of the ones who posted your store's info on the BBY forum? If not, I hope that e-mail from corporate went out to all stores.

There's been numerous promos for discount subs @ $10. Now with the free unlocked coupon I'm ending up with 2 yrs for $15 & they'll send more $10 promos throughout. This is the 3rd time since the coupons started to stack that there was a problem($30 Driver SF & free Gears of War 3pk* but the wording on the gears coupon was different). If your a flipper the 10% makes a big difference since BB already has high trade in % deals(40-50%). Check the OP for previous months you'll see alot of newer titles that were $10-$30(AC:B, resistance 2pk, tomb raider Coll & DA2 $15, DSIII $25 & Shift 2 $20. The main thing to look for is a newer $60 title that'll go on sale for $40 then take the $10-$20 off & get the BF price long before Nov.

I'd sure appreciate hearing from any CAG who tried to buy Ico/GoW this morning. Are these coupons stacking like they are supposed to? I'd like to run out and get these games, but I don't want to hassle a manager to get it done.

I tried this yesterday for GOW:Origins and was informed by both the manager and gamer manager that after people were getting Brink/Hunted for $10 that stacking the coupon w/sale prices were discontinued hence the coupon not ringing up correctly. I mentioned the memo and both said it was overturned.

I haven't read a single word in any of the magazines, but I will definitely agree that the magazines are worth it for the coupons alone.

I have only received 3 magazines, but I have saved $90 with coupons from those 3 magazines. In some cases, if I had waited long enough, the prices could have likely been the same or close, but in other cases, I doubt I would have been able to ever buy it off the shelf at the price purchased with the coupon.

still needs an override this morning.

Sorry I have not been about to follow this like I used to. Which issue and where is the free unlock coupon is again?

Wow, talk about a line of BS... Brink and Hunted were an MSRP drop to $29.99 - $20 @Gamer coupon = $9.99. No sale prices involved. As far as the memo being overturned, shoot Mike a PM at forums.bestbuy.com and he'll straighten them out...

It's too late to get one now... you had to be a subscriber prior to 9/12/11. It was mailed out with the Sept issue to subscribers only.

The Magazine is certainly worth it for the coupons if they continue to stack with sale prices as they had been. I was able to get the manager's override for ICO/SOTC and have never played it before because I hadnt owned a PS2, but after a little while with it I'm very happy I went took the time to get the manager to override. Now I'm debating grabbing a second mag, printing the GOW Origins price from their online and trying to get that as well, but I know it will be under the $20 I get it for sometime soon enough probably

This. If future coupons don't stack with sales prices, I don't think it's worth buying the magazines, but if they do keep stacking I think there enough games that go on sale within the date of the coupon to make pretty good use out of the coupons.

Yeah, with the sales and coupons stacking the magazine subscription paid for its self with the first coupon you'd use. Hopefully at worst this becomes a ymmv thing all the time and you need to work it out with a manager, but I'm really hoping it goes back to the stacking of the last few months

Apparently Mike is saying that the the coupon issue was fixed and now takes off $10 automatically when scanned with the sales price. Doesn't seem like it's working for everyone though? Mike posted this in the @gamer thread on the Best Buy forum:
To everyone who has sent me a private message or has been posting on this thread,

I have been informed that the issue at the registers has been fixed and these coupons should now work automatically with in-store sales prices as intended. If you have purchased your game and were not able to use the coupon, please go back with your receipt and coupon and the store should be able to to correct it. If you are one of the people I have not yet had a chance to respond to, please accept this as the current resolution. If your private message was in regard to another issue I will still follow up with you.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Is this only for the ICO Collection?

I would love if this would work on the God of War Origins, such a pain thought to price match on website then apply the $10 off.

Just got in from Best Buy in Lexington, KY (Nicholasville Rd location): coupon did NOT auto stack. Gamer guy listened to me talk about the June memo and the Forum posts from the BB rep. He did a bit of research online (including an internal BB answers of some sort) and brought a manager over to do the override, so after 10min or so got the game for $15.

So as of 11:30am the coupon does not work automatically.
Is this only for the ICO Collection?

Yeah it's only for the ICO/SotC collection. The official policy is that Best Buy won't pricematch their own site AND let you use a coupon, so God of War Origins won't work until the in-store price is changed.

However, people are STILL having problems with the coupon not working automatically so I'm not sure if what Mike said is true for any stores.

hmmmmm good news on the stacking working but i'll wait a few hours til i go to a best buy, those usually take a couple hours for everything to work.

we will see later today :D hope i get it.

Anyone have any luck yet today in getting ICO with the coupon WITHOUT override? Supposedly its working, but I havent heard anyone say it did.

They wouldn't let be get it with the coupon at all.
Here's what happened.

I go to the register with Ico/Shadow & the magazine and ask if I could use the coupon inside. "SURE! All we have to do is check out the magazine first.". So I buy the magazine and then when they go to check out the game they rip the coupon out and tell me it's valid only for regularly priced games and not for on sale items. I said "So I Just bought a magazine for nothing then?" "Yup, but hey, there's a lot of good coupons in there!".

*facepalm*
I decided that even if I wait till the end of the month I can still use the coupon when it's reg price, or the one for Dead Rising 2 : Off The record.

Best Buy could clear this up now and forever with a simple 4 step plan:

1) Fix their system to allow the coupon under the proper conditions (on sale).

2) Either remove the "Regular Price" notation on the back of the coupon or change the wording on the back of the coupon to allow in-store sale prices.

3) ???

4) Profit

Tried getting my copy of the October magazine at one store and was told that "that would be stealing" for the manager to let me have a copy of the magazine. Yes, Best Buy, giving me something I paid for and you failed to deliver is "stealing."

Fortunately the manager at another best buy is not suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome and gave me a copy of the magazine.

I simply asked to use the coupon (like I did 4X for Brink/Hunted) to try and get ICO and/or GOW:O. He asked when I signed up for the sub and I told him on the first day of Unlocked 9/12. He said "well you probably won't be getting this issue in the mail so here you go" Then the coupon didn't work without override so I just left.

It was free if you had an @gamer sub already. They sent out vouchers for free unlocked with the September issue.

As for the 10% bonus, from what I heard it is just a radial button that they have to push honor system style where it doesn't double check. Sounds like they have been doing that for you.

The 10% might be bad info because it's only hearsay to me as I haven't succesfully got to use it yet.
